Rating: Summary: A truly uplifting and fantastic film. Review: I have read Mr. Sagan's book twice, once after I saw this film and once before. Although the film was not as indepth as the book (If it was it would of been an 8 hour movie) it still held the beauty and mastermind of Sagan's work. The charactars were just as involving as the storyline. The beautiful and talented Jody Foster was terrific as always. Then to top it all off, it is directed by the terrific director of Forrest Gump, Robert Zemmickis. Extraordinary! END
Rating: Summary: This is as good as it has every been Review: As someone who has spent their working years designing earth stations like you see in this film I was so impressed that the technical detail was so good. Small technical errors are forgiven in a great film overall. This film played out a scenario I have pondered over many times. Late at night in a earth staions during performance tests I have kicked the antenna off it test axis and looked around at the many carriers out there.... Jodie Foster played that role so well and I enjoyed every moment of a thinking persons film..a rare output from any studio. END
Rating: Summary: The story is as beautiful and breathaking as it's "star" Review: Every now and then a well thought out and complex story actually makes it through the Hollywood studio maze. CONTACT is one of those infrequent victories for Hollywood. Like the brillantly comprehensive performance of Jodie Foster, the story fully explores its intended moral. If you're looking for alien chase sequence, shoots out, and adrenaline pumped, quick satisfying action, try ID4. If you're looking for a true spiritual vision relfective of a perfect marriage between director, writers and actors, get CONTACT. END
Rating: Summary: Great Example of How Hollywood Should Use the Special Effect Review: In these days, the mainstream Hollywood movies seem to be using too much special effects and even defending on them without a good story telling. Contact is one of a few movies that combines a good story line and a great special effect (even though I think showing Mr. Clinton was a bit too much). We need more of this kind of movie. END
Rating: Summary: One of the Most Thought-Provoking Films of All Time Review: As a small child, I watched intensely as Carl Sagan explained, mathematically speaking, there had to be life on other planets. As an adult, I watched intensely as Foster's character comes face to face with that vision. "Contact" touches the audience scientifically and spritually and challenges it. The film is solid in its characterization and dramatic structure. I was at first skeptical when Foster's scientific character was mirrored with a religious man, but I found interaction between the two characters to be fresh and compelling. END
Rating: Summary: ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES....EVER Review: When I first saw this movie, I immediately thought that this movie was what movie-making was all about--sheer brilliance! Zemeckis' direction is astounding, and Foster's acting is top-notch. I can't believe that twit Helen Hunt got this year's Oscar for Best Actress, when Jodie should have gotten it for this movie. Hunt can't even act. Foster is a master, and in this movie, she shows you how well she does her craft. Zemeckis is on fire as well, and his art is just increasingly getting better and better. END
Rating: Summary: POWERFUL! Review: It's great when a movie goes exactly where you think it SHOULD go and your in sync with it through-out. An excellent movie that should be more talked about. Powerful without ANY over-acting, great filming and editing. Great writing/directing. END
Rating: Summary: WOW WOW WOW!!!!!! Review: Contack is the 90's version of 2001. It is a work of art! Robert Zemeckis (Forest Gump, Back to the Future I, II and III,) has done it again. Sagon would have loved to have seen this film. It questions faith, the world and everything. Jodie Foster was a complete knock out. She is quite simply the best actor alive. William Fichtner, also impressed the hell out of me. James Woods, the evil Mr Kitz was a perfect portayel of a sleezy government man. WHAT A FILM!!!!!!! END
Rating: Summary: The best film I have ever seen! Review: The best film I have ever seen! There are no words to describe the strength of the emotions I felt... END
Rating: Summary: This is one of the best DVD's ever made! Review: This is a great DVD! With three commentary tracks, two theatrical trailers, original computer-generated concepts, production notes, cast/crew bios/filmographies, plus tons more! And it's in widescreen - which is what LD and DVD were made for, right? The movie is great too which can never hurt, right? END
