Rating: Summary: Amazing Warchoskis Review: While the Warchoski Brothers found fame with the Matrix, it was Bound that put them on the map. A lesbian slash mob film noir, this film sizzles with plot twists, mob hits and a superb cast including Jennifer Tilly, Gina Gershon and Joe Pantolina(?, traitor in Matrix)! Fast-moving plot, time flies in this film with weird overhead shots and POV (Point of View) looks that capture more emotion most films can. If you liked the Matrix and its action, you should watch this film too.
Rating: Summary: Long on style and plot, a little short on the ladies Review: Jeez, the film is good looking. The sets, costumes, the leads, the production, the editing, etc. The plot twists involving the heist are tricky and unpredictable. I had not seen Joe Palotiano before and he has energy to burn. Unfortunately, the twisting plot was at the expense of the relationship developement between the two ladies. The seduction scene came on really fast (and is still hard to beat because it was so convincingly verbal and not visual - the close up of Meg Tilly's heavy breathing and shaking, her ghasping whipers, pleading to Gina Gershon - well, I certainly bought it!). But once the steam clears, it's a full on robbery/cheesy mafia movie. The uniqueness of the ladies gets swept aside. Sorry to be nitpicking, but it sure would've been nice if the by-the-numbers Mafia stuff was replaced by some other classier motif
Rating: Summary: Excellent mob film noir Review: Bound is one of those nouveau film noir's where it is difficult to see what is going to happen next. The twists and turns of the plot are really excellent and they are engrossing. Best of all is that the characters behave realistically and Joe Pantoliano, as Tilly's sleezy boyfriend, is marvellously adaptable to his rapidly changing situation. Jennifer Tilly is very hot in her black stockings, high heels and miniskirts-definitely a real turn on for any lipstick lesbian (or male for that matter). Her seduction of Corky is very arousing (or is it Corky's seduction of her?). Even if you discount the heroines' interesting relationship, this is a gripping very well done film and highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: Wowzers! What a suprise! The Waschowski Bros. really outdid themselves with this one; it's even better than The Matrix! Beautifully shot, cleverly written, seductively provocative, this is one not to miss. I haven't heard of this movie until as of recently and I was totally taken by suprise. In all honesty, I rented this movie because of the "steamy" scenes between Tilly and Gershon, but the entire movie really does some job on your eye sockets. You can't take 'em off the screen.
Rating: Summary: One HOT Movie! Review: The chemistry between Gina Gershon & Jennifer Tilly is scintillating. This is a not to miss film for viewers who dig strong, sexy women, explicit gay female sex and seedy misadventure. True to life, no one is a "good guy" in this movie. One major disappointment: abruptly, after the initial erotically charged scenes between the women, the plot abandonned the intimate relationship for mafia misadventure for the rest of the movie! A better choice would have been to continue to combine the two. This shift left me very disappointed. Nevertheless, Bound is decidedly one of my favorites in the Lesbian genre, right behind "When Night Is Falling". I only wish there was a director's cut or at least a "making of Bound" trailer.
Rating: Summary: Worth a viewing. Review: Bound was a decent movie that sported some good acting from the entire cast. I don't consider it to be a great movie, but it no doubt is satisfying and worth a watch. Bound was quite extreme in every department. The plot didn't totally interest me, but this was still worth a viewing.
Rating: Summary: as exciting as they come Review: From the makers of _The Matrix_, here is evidence that gangster noir is alive and kicking in the trunk of American cinema's Cadillac. The acting is uniformly great, the thrills are intense. _Bound_ has an impressive number of completely unexpected, perfectly timed moments of tension. The cinematography is excellent.
Rating: Summary: BOUND to Please Review: A thoroughly absorbing caper from the first scene to the last. If you like sitting on the edge of your seat, wondering what in the world is going to happen next, then you'll love being plopped down into the intricate maze of this film. The story twists and turns unpredictably, and the billiantly quirky cinematography and seamless editing add to the fun. Great star-turns by Jennifer Tilly, Joe Pantoliano, and especially Gina Gershon who never hits a false note. There's also an edgy, over-the-top performance by Christopher Meloni as a gleefully sadistic mobster; Meloni makes his scenes crackle with barely contained malice, and proves once again that he's a highly capable actor with a commanding on-screen presence. The DVD presentation of this underrated gem is quite good. "Bound" is much more enjoyable when viewed in widescreen, and the sharp transfer offered on the disc is a vast improvement over the VHS version. The theatrical trailer and audio commentaries are enjoyable extras. A "making of" featurette would have been a nice bonus - but even without it, this is a great DVD that current and future fans of the movie will be proud to own.
Rating: Summary: A rainbow review - Thumbs up! Review: I loved it! Very believable! The Corgy character sizzles! It's not just another "Oooh lesbians" guy flick. The love scenes are great, but the plot is very exciting. The "roles" concept that might be taken away from this is only for the really lame - the relationship was well done. I saw it on HBO before running out and buying it.
Rating: Summary: Smart, fun, sexy Review: Wonderful caper flick. The lesbianism is portrayed honestly and makes for an interesting twist to the genre. If you liked "The Matrix," check out "Bound" to see the beginnings of some of the techniques the Wachowskis used. Great performances all around.
