Summary: This was the BEST movie of the year! Bar none (Titanic fans)
Review: Reading some of these reviews makes me laugh. I say,"get a life" to all the people OFFENDED by this movies lack of respect toward mathamatics. Its a movie!! Show me 1 movie that has a better story line, better acting, and the warm feeling this movie gives and I'll show you a Titanic fan

Summary: The movie was good for young adults learning about sex.
Review: The movie was very intriging and kept me with it all the time. It kept me on the edge of my seat and as always, it was mostly because of Mr. Robin Williams himself. He's a GREAT actor and was perfect for this role.

Summary: Inspirational
Review: Good Will Hunting is my all time favorite movie and for good reason. The script is excellent, and knowing that it was written by the extremely talented Matt Damon and Ben Affleck made me appreciate the movie even more. The best scenes were those of the therapy sessions between Robin Williams and Matt Damon. The two writers based that part of the script on real-life advice given to them by their parents and it just goes to show the type of healthy parenting they received growing up. Matt and Ben make an excellent combination of characters and their talent shines brightely in this film. It seemed pretty low-budget to me and that makes it even better. It was not special effects or millions of dollars that made the movie good, as in Titanic, it was rather the talented actors and the script. That is what a good movie should be based on. It was real and to the point. I believe that was one of its biggest strengths. I could watch it over and over...every time I do, I must sit back and reflect on the inspirational nature that this film brings to the self-absorbed world that we so often face.

Summary: Trash
Review: My sister rented this "movie" during Thanksgiving for the family to watch. We mostly talked over it. Then we took it out and watched something on TV. When is Hollywood ever going to learn to talk without gutter language. It's starting to get boring.

Summary: Terrible language
Review: The movie was great. I would have rated it super if it had not been for the terrible language. It seemed that no one could say a sentence without using the F word. Because of the tasteless language, this is not a movie that a Christian would want to see. Therefore, I would not recommend it to any of my friends; must less let them know I saw it.

Summary: DVD buzz kill
Review: This DVD is loaded with features- too bad they're ALL MOVIE TRAILERS AND TV SPOTS! I swear, they put every permutation of the trailer on this DVD and it's a drag to watch them all. It does include commentary by director Guss Van Zant, and actors/writers Damon and Aflec, but it's not very engaging. Menus are not very well laid out either- I kept losing my way around. I give it 3 stars because the story is good, but not good enough to make up for this uninspired DVD presentation.

Summary: A hell of a lot better...
Review: mathematics are a key factor in understanding almost anything today. and, will hunting was not forced to pursue it. it was for his own "good" if you will, to pursue his special talent. and the awards it got were well desreved. robin williams perfomed majestically. his powerfully-emotional character was outstanding. and the screenplay by matt and ben, was remarkable for their time. this movie is a must-see in my book, and in the books of many others. so check it out, you'll be impressed. a lot of language though, so be prepared for that. but nowadays, that's not that uncommon. and as for that "viewer from new york," learn to appreciate math, and great films. END

Summary: yes, only 3 stars
Review: However, it must be said all of the acting was excellent. The story is modestly entertaining, it just requires a slightly greater suspension of disbelief than most dramas. Other reviewers determining that the bad language is "unnecessary" PLEASE take note: maybe you don't but a lot of people in poor urban areas actually speak that way. At least the film was realistic in that regard.

Summary: The Best Film of 97/98
Review: Surely to become one of the most memorable dramas of the 90`s, "Good Will Hunting" is a genuinely excellent film that is enriched with a rare, down to earth power. Surprisingly moving and effective, "Good Will Hunting" is basically about choosing what we truly want and need in our lives. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck`s script is incredible, and it goes perfectly with Gus Van Sant`s style of directing, which is this time a lot more "softer" than his previous works. "Good Will Hunting" is brimming with remarkable performances, and is constructed almost flawlessly. The publicity the film recieved is well-deserved. An unforgettable and highly satisfying movie.

The lead character of the film is Will Hunting(Damon). A cocky, rebellious but deeply troubled young man who is also a mathematical prodigy. But instead of using his gift, Will hides it, and mops floors for a living. But Will`s phenomenon is accidentally discovered one day by an MIT professor. He practically offers Will a ticket to exposure and fame, but he obviously refuses. Will would rather stick to his blue-collar roots and best friend Chuckie (Affleck). After several failed attempts to reach him with psychologists, the professor calls in his old roommate Sean Maguire. A wise and recently widowed psychiatrist played excellently by Robin Williams. Sean and Will seem to understand each other deeply, and they ultimately become each other`s inspiration to change themselves for the better. To add even more complication to Will`s life, he meets a vibrant Harvard student named Skylar (Minnie Driver). She quickly falls in love with him, but unfortunately evokes Will`s traumatic childhood and makes him more confused then ever. Between fame, roots or a true love, Will`s search for the answer is difficult, but slowly becomes clear in the end.

Summary: Stupid and Unreal
Review: I swear I must've heard the word F-U-*-*. (You know what comes next) 20 times in ten minutes! Not only does this movie degrade itself with excessive strong language, but sorrily degrades mathematicians too! Those people work their whole lives at becoming what they are, then a non-educated little janitor comes and put them to shame!!! Yea, right!? How on earth could Damon and Afleck have possibly won an Academy award for bst Screenplay? IT SUCKED!!!!!!!!!! Don't even rent this to satisfy your curiosity. STAY AWAY FROM GOOD WILL HUNTING!! Or you won't be so GOOD!
