Summary: A MOVIE THAT GOES BEYOND GREATNESS!!!
Review: When I first saw this movie opening day,I had a lot of expectation because the film was being directed by my favorite director Steven Spielberg but also because of the great cast that was involved. Plus, it was a World WarII, something that Iam very interested in but when the movie started nothing could have preparded me for what I feel is the greatest motion picture ever made. The movie really does go beyond word, I saw the movie four times and each time after the movie had ended no one got up and the theater was dead silent, the only thing that could be heard was weeping throughout the audience. The opening sequence is just...well, I can't found any words that can really describe it, powerful to say the least. The movie really does emotionally drain you, from beginning to the end. To me this is almost a perfect film. DVD is very much needed!!

Review: Let's get one thing straight right here, the only reason that this movie was written is to earn some quick oscars. I'll admit that the opening and closing battle scenes were amazingly done, but the middle overall did a terriffic job of sucking a** that the only one to blame is that screenwriter Robert Rodat, who should be knee-capped.

Summary: A gift for generations to come
Review: Dear Steven, I doubt that this mail will find its way to you, hopefully someone will read it and remember some of its content. 'Saving Private Ryan' was a gift you gave to all Americans, thank you, we need to be reminded of the sacrifices others have made in our behalf. All to often in todays society events from our past history are taken for granted, a movie like 'Saving Private Ryan' should humble us and make us better for having experienced it. An uncle I never knew died on D-Day from machine gun fire while storming the beach, he was in the 100 and 1st airborne division, he is buried at the American cemetary in France. I am not embarrassed to say that I have seen this great movie 15 times so far, each time the experience was better than the previous one. People cried out at the disbelief of the horror on the screen. I believe in my heart that each person who left the theatre following the completion of the movie, left emotionally drained but with a much better appreciation for those who have served and continue to serve in our Armed Forces. I was sad when the movie was pulled from the theatres after almost 1 year of being on the big screen. I served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam era and am an active member of the Dupage County Marines colorguard detachment in Illinois. We have had 7 parades so far this year, in all honesty the crowds have been bigger and their positive acknowledgement of us greater than I can remember in years past. I really believe on a personal level that you and the movie you gave us are the major reason for their energized spirit of gratitude. I have one suggestion and one request. With the success of 'Saving Private Ryan', why not tell some of the other great stories from our nations history. Having been a Marine, when I see the vision of the great monument in Washington DC which shows the Marines raising the flag following the battle for IWO JIMA(UNCOMMON VALOR WAS A COMMON VIRTUE), I often wonder how many of those Americans in todays society realize just how costly securing that island was and/or why being a Marine is so meaningful to those of us who served and continue to serve our country. If the story of one battle can best describe that statue and/or what it means to be a Marine, than IWO JIMA was that battle. If you do not tell these stories of human sacrifice for those of us living and the generations to come, who will??? Is there any way for me to acquire or purchase some of the movie posters from 'Saving Private Ryan'? I would frame these posters and proudly hang them from my movie room walls. To me, hanging these posters would give me the same feeling I get when flying the American Flag during speial times of the year. When I fly the American Flag it makes me proud and because of that pride, I want to share the history of this great country with others by telling the stories of her life.

Review: I sat down and watched this, and honestly, I don't really know what the big deal about it all, was. Sure, it was full of action, the depiction of the atrocities of war was excellent...but...I don't know. It left me with a feeling of emptiness. Not one I would re-see, frankly. Pretty much nothing to the story, really. Just action, bullets, bodies flying about and blood. No big deal

Review: Saving Private Ryan is an incredible film. Historically accurate, it will long be remembered as THE WWII movie. It is touching if seen in the right light and perspective. It also has the realism of any documentary filmed. It is in my opinion Steven Spielberg's masterpiece.

Review: I've been in the USAF and USAR for a long time. Never been to battle. I have to say that the emotional impact has stuck to my ribs in a somber way. I played war as a kid, the awfulness of it all was good for me to see. It is a thank you to our vets. Thank you all.

Review: This film's first thirty minutes (not counting the crying vet) are quite likely the most breath-taking thing you'll ever see in a film. Unfortunately there's not much else afterwards. This film, while being historically acccurate (I guess), is unintelligent. It is perfection if all you want to see is guns, explosions and body parts. Don't worry, it won't challenge you at all. If you're looking for a intelligent film that will allow you some much-needed mental exercise (and we all need some of that these days), check out Apocalypse Now or The Thin Red Line.

Review: its the best movie. It is ausoume it has action, drama I felt my self shake when the alied forces landed on the Omaha beach.it was so full of action, it was the best movie I have ever seen.

Summary: Yes, one of the three greatest films of all time
Review: Notice, my friends, that "Shakespeare in Love" is not one of the three greatest films of all time, but rather "Taxi Driver", "The Deer Hunter", and this film are. In my humble opinion, that is, of course. The photography, the sound, everything about the way the film is made, not to mention the acting (but I guess I did anyway, EH) are terrific. Should be the modern day "Citizen Kane" war film, in that it should inspire just as many directors. At least, I'd like to see that happen.

Summary: It was real, really real, so incredibly real!!
Review: I saw it 4 1/4 times at the movies! The 1/4 was because I went into the wrong movie theater and the action was so riveting, I didn't and counldn't leave! After that, I saw it again from the start, that left me speechless, I had to see it again after my nerves got used to it, then I took my friends and mom to see it, and they loved it! This movie was soo real, from the sound effects right down to what I saw, it made me appreciate veterans for what they did and endured! I have new found respect and gratitude for what they did; and I really hope I never have to be at war!! But bottom line, I don't think I could ever forget what I saw in the movie!! Few films have even come this close in depiction!
