Summary: Glorifies adultery...
Review: Very romantic, but glorifies adultery. I just can't like a movie that does that.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: I hated it. So did my sister, and she likes romantic movies.
Review: I am a male, I'm 20 and I'm single, so maybe I wasn't the indicated to enjoy this movie. I really hated it, it was sooo slow, long and boring. But my elder sister is 32, she's married, and she loves to read romantic novels (all of them awful in my opinion). She even read the Bridges of Madison County novel and liked it. But she hated the movie as much as I did. If anybody has an explanation for that, please tell me.

Summary: Ummm, Yawn!
Review: I admit it. I like a bit of action, humor or thought stimulation in the movies I watch. Well, the whole movie is inside of an Iowa Farm House, either in the kitchen or in the bed. Wow. I felt as if I was watching a documentary of how to watch your grass grow. Streep talks very low so you can't hear or guess her phony Italian accent. Maybe it wasn't Italian? I kept wanting to yell, "speak up lady". She did a good job portraying the farmers wife, definitely looking the part. If only she didn't have to speak in that horrible accent. They advertise this movie in 5.1 DD. Well, if it was, my system (which is very good) could not ascertain it. Almost everything comes through the center speaker. Poorest 5.1 DD I have ever heard. There are lots of flash backs to the now grown children reading about their mom's lover in her diary. Boring! I kept waiting (kinda hoping) for her (Francesca-Streep)husband to show up from the county fair and find "Clint" hanging around the farm house with his cameras. Maybe I am just not a romantic. Sorry. 2 Stars. And those are for Streep's appearance/performance. Otherwise... Zilch. I am sooo glad that I rented this one.

Summary: Bridges...will NOT make your day!
Review: Again the critics dissapoint me. This movie was an utter disgrace. I was anticipating such a great film but was left kicking myself for enduring the entire film naievely waiting for the story to thicken or grab my interest. The movie in general had a very monotone feel about it. Granted it's not an action flick. However, I have seen some fantastic love stories. This is definitely 1 of the top 10 worst movies I have ever seen (READ THE BOOK!)

Summary: Touching, true to life drama about love
Review: Clint Eastwood portraits a matured believable human being finding love in an unlikely place. Meryl Streep portraits Eastwood married love interest. The drama unfolds in a natural, evergrowing flow of emotions. Streep, a lonely, middle-aged married woman living in a small secluded community (Madison County) find herself overwhelmed by this visiting photographer (Eastwood). Old, long forgotten feelings are reborned in her heart making her feel like a desirable woman again. At the end love conquers. Although short-lived this relationship leaves you with a good feeling about the importance and the power of love, at any age.

Summary: an excellent movie worth watching
Review: truely a fine movie that, in many ways probably imitates real life more closely than many people would be willing to admit. eastwood and streep do a wonderful job of acting. they make you feel as if it is really happening to someone you live next to or is or has happened to you

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Bridges of Madison County is simply breathtaking...
Review: Meryl Streep is at her ultimate best and absolutely mesmerizing as Francesca and Clint Eastwood is as you've never seen him before. They both are magical together and give breathtaking, passionate performances that leave you wanting more. A beautifully scenic photographed movie. Oscars should have gone to Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood as best actors, Clint Eastwood as best director, and The Bridges of Madison County as best picture.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: It is Streep's triumph. Watch it for her.
Review: She is brilliant. She makes every moment work. I think this is one of her best performances. Alas, the movie is not up to her talents. Eastwood's direction is often static and wooden, and the same can be said of his performance. Honestly, there are moments in this movie that are as bad as anything in Plan Nine From Outer Space. Feel free to FF past any and all scenes that do not involve Streep, ESPECIALLY those involving her now-grown-up children. Just watch every minute that Streep in, and see how a great actress can transcend some less than stellar material.

Summary: Excellent acting and a good script.
Review: The performances are top-notch. The story is good. All-around a great one. The big dissapointment subtracting from a would-be 5 star rating is the lack of a widescreen format. Even though the movie is heavily dialog driven, the lack of widescreen (or letterbox)format reduces the visual impact to a certain degree. In DVD this is almost inexcusable.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: IT WAS GREAT, THE BEST MOVIE I'VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME.
Review: ALL THAT I CAN SAY IS THAT IT'S THE GREATEST MOVIE. IT'S FILLED WITH PASSION. IT PULLS YOU RIGHT IN AND TUGS AT YOUR HEART AND DOESN'T LET GO UNTIL THE CREDITS ARE ROLLING AT THE END. TWO GREAT ACTORS MAKE THIS MOVIE ALL THE MORE WORTH WATCHING.
