Summary: Not the best mob movie around but a decent film
Review: My list of top gangster movies includes the sadly underrated "Casino," then "Goodfellas," the first two "Godfather" films, "Pulp Fiction," "Scarface," and "Reservoir Dogs." While not as good as those classics, "Donnie Brasco" is good gangster movie. Only an actor as great as Al Pacino could make such an unspectatular character as "Lefty" seem interesting. "Lefty" is not very nice, but not particularly mean either. He's just a regular down-and-out guy who has not had much success in his organized crime career. Depp's performance as undercover FBI agent Joe Pistone a.k.a. "Donnie Brasco" is impressive, especially since keeping up with Pacino is no easy task. Michael Madsen gives a great performance as usual in his role as a more successful (and more ruthless) mobster. Madsen is definitely the scariest screen gangster ever. And that's what makes this movie stand out, because it's scary. Not just because of the ever-chilling presense of Madsen, but also because it's disturbing to see such treacherous, decietful behaviour from someone who's supposed to be the "good guy" and you never know what will happen next. Pacino's character, for all his flaws, is ironically the most likable person in the film when compared to the other characters. I did find Anne Heche annoying, as I usually do, but that wasn't a big problem because I couldn't picture a guy like Pistone married to a nice lady. If you have already seen the seven gangster films I've mentioned above, give this tense and unsettling movie a try.

Summary: There is a brighter more comical side
Review: This is an all around great movie it has it's drama side, violent side, and a funny side. Some of the people i showed this movie to fail to see the comedy behind some of the scenes like in the begining in the social club Lefty and Nicky are having an argument which is a better car a lincoln or a cadillac in that scene the comedy behind it is the way they argue. Another scene thats pretty funny is when Donnie and Lefty are rideing in Donnies car pulling a porsche and when lefty tells donnie to pull over and starts taking donnies stereo apart and loses his scewdriver in the stereo. what you have to do is listen to the way they talk to each other its funny. Also the way Nicky is in the movie with the little smart comments its quite funny... to me anyway.but if you listen to the way they talk to each other and watch lefty always ask donnie for money. But all in all Its a great movie. If your a fan of Mafia Type Movies Which i believe It was either Joe Pistone Or Mike newell or Johnny depp says on the special features (which are totally awsome) its dangerous to categorize it as a mafia flick because its not its more of a love story in sick way or somethin like that youll have to watch the special features to find out what im tryin to say also the deleted are funny as can be - anyway ITS A GREAT BUY YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED TAKE MY WORD FOR IT AL PACINO AND JOHNNY DEPP ARE GREAT TOGETHER IN THE MOVIE AND ALL OF THE OTHERS ANNE HECHE AND MIKE MADSEN AND BRUNO KIRBY ARE ALL GREAT JUST BUY IT AFTER YOU WATCH IT THE ONLY THING YOU'LL REGRET IS YOU DIDNT BUY IT SOONER.

Summary: Pacino on the way out- fading fast
Review: Pacino has lost the energy that defined his prior roles- the hard work that he used to put into his characters to make them as believable as possible- hes getting old- pushing 65 now and its starting to show with some really bad films like the one he was in about big tobacco with Russell Crowe.

Review: Though Al Pacino gives a solid performance, I found the film to be blasse. It's plot was slow and teedious. The movie does have its tension filled moments. However, I found this movie to be a poor man's "Goodfellas".

Review: If you like mob flicks, Johnny Depp and Al Pacino, this will entertain. Pacino is a whiny second-stringer in the New York mob who brings Depp into his gang, not realizing he's an undercover FBI agent. Hijinks follow. Allegedly based on a true story.

Summary: Ah! Fugheddaboudit!
Review: Yeah, another mob movie but this time with Pacino and .... Depp. A good combination for a movie but a mob movie made alot of optimists pure pessimists but since this is based on a true story and the Special Edition shows an interview with the man the movie was based on this movie has alot more. Anne Heche is hot in this one and she plays Depp's wife (for sure she ain't a lesbian! Jus' look at how she grabs Depp, hahaha)Anyways I ain't gonna say anything about this movie cause if you like movies with a mob member in it or even the word 'mafia' in it than this movie is for your bad self!

Review: If you are into the whole underground world of the mafia than watch this movie cause it has all the twists and turns that all of those movies in that genre offer. Good movie based on real life FBI undercover agent working with the mob.

Summary: Excellent!!
Review: This is a beautiful transfer, on an excellent mob film. The DVD package is VERY good espcially for the below 15 dollar price most retailers have it at. Deleted scenes, directors commmentary, and other special features are done very well, but the movie is classic. Johnny Depp and Al Pacino play off eachother so well, that they make this true story into a cinema masterpiece. I give it the fifth star, because of the "bargain bin" price its been giving, if you see it for 15 bucks consider yourself lucky.

Review: this movie can be a real drag....this movie just doesnt cut it in any collection....the only reason i can think of someone buying this DVD is to fill up ur Al Pacino collection. This movie is in a way similar to Blow...but it doesn't keep your attention...

Summary: One of the best!!!
Review: I loved this movie. It was a great story that sits with some of the best mob pictures out there. Depp gives an amazing performance and Pacino is as always great. The story is gripping and the huor makesit very enjoyable. The fact that this is based on a true story also makes it more compelling. One word of caution though the story in the movie is pretty far off from what really happened to Agent Pistone but it is still a great movie. Check out the book as well and you will like it even more.
