Summary: weak mob-schtick. 3 hours of it.
Review: come on-- it seems like Scorsese only has one movie in him-- Goodfellas and its younger clones. The film just really is so un-original it's almost stunning; so filled with mob movie cliches you can literally predict it scene by scene. Pesci is the small sadistic psychopath who by the end of the movie "goes too far" and is bumped off by his former associates in a "crime doesn't pay" ending. Believe me, that gave nothing away.

What I found particularly annoying were the little "real life bits" that were pretty innovative when Godfather came out but now form the entirety of that pathetic show, The Sopranos. What I mean by "real life bits" are, for instance, when these blood-soaked mob men spend five minutes talking about pasta, or they respect their old Italian mothers, or, in this film, spending five minutes discussing the details of digging a hole in the desert. (sarcastically:) It's such a great contrast! (not sarcastically:) This spiel is SO played out. Really gets on my nerves.

As for the "gritty, realistic" violence-- it's so expected it loses all impact. Of COURSE a Scorsese flick is gonna have Pesci beating ... someone. Big deal.

All in all, a poor, execrably long waste.

Review: A great movie, Robert DeNiro does it again, this time as the person in charge of a large mafia owned casino in Las Vegas. Joe Peci is in this movie, Sharon Stone....Need I say more? Get it.

Summary: Great Mob movie.....
Review: An awsome movie about the mafia owned casinos of early Las Vegas. Robert DeNiro and Joe Peci give steller performances as usual. A must have for every DVD collection. You will not be dissapointed. - Trust me

Summary: Hillary: it's NOT Dennis Farina.
Review: It's Frank Vincent. Yes, they look similar, but it's not Dennis. Actually, I think Frank is better.

Summary: Old Las Vegas....
Review: The way it was in the "good old days" of Las Vegas, when the union bosses and the mafiosos had the run of the town. Sharon Stone is in vintage form.

Summary: Outstanding
Review: This is probably in the top 3 mafia movies of all time. The story is intrique and well written. Great acting, the more you watch it, the more you'll be convinced.

Summary: Wanna BET You'll Enjoy This Film?
Review: Although not quite as thrilling as his previous pieces, Martin Scorsese still scores with a "Goodfellas" goes to Vegas film. .............I put it this way simply because, part of the appeal is visiting with so much of the same cast as 1990's "Goodfellas". Robert DeNiro is our leading man this time, as Sam "Ace" Rothstein a character based on the real Frank Rosenthal who'd been there, done that. Joe Pesci plays an eerily similar character to his "Tommy DeVito" sociopath from "Goodfellas", as Sams associate with whom NO sane person should associate. ...........Other fun "mobster" character actors like Frank Vincent are on tap too. I personally think Frank is terrific, and has a wonderful presence and look with all that thick silver hair. He reminds me a bit of Dennis Farina, another great actor who is far more famous. Frank was classic as "Billy Batts" in "Goodfellas" and I enjoyed him here as well. I wish we'd see him more often. .............The true original, James Woods, effectively plays the smarmy ex-lover to Sharon Stone's "Ginger", a Vegas hustler, who marries Sam (DeNiro) for his money and connections. Love has nothing to do with this marriage as we soon see, when Ginger continues to love Woods, and much worse. Stone is believable, albeit melodramatic to the max, as she entertainingly deteriorates in her marriage to DeNiro. She deserved her award for this performance. ..............Despite all the good factored into this film, something is intangibly missing here when you compare to "Goodfellas." That's why a "Casino", great as it is, is so similarly done and themed, it seems to pale in comparison. I think if we didn't have "Goodfellas" to compare "Casino" to...it would stand out on its own as an original masterpiece. However, since it's the same director, similar and terrific soundtrack used in the same fashion, nearly identical cast, and mobster theme...you can't HELP but compare! You kind of feel like Scorsese said, well, it worked once, so let's change a few elements, give the movie a new name, and have "Goodfellas Revisited." ..............If "Casino" had been first, would we think "Goodfellas" paled by comparison? No, we would say Scorsese topped "Casino". No matter how you slice it, side by side...comparisons would have been made regardless of chronology. Therefore, once an extraordinary film is made, it seems silly to attempt to recapture THAT magic, NEW magic is always preferable. .................Despite all that, this film is highly entertaining and definitely worth makng a place for in your movie library.

Review: Good enough to own, but not one of my favorite mob movies. I find the narration a little annoying, kind of like a book on tape, but it's a good story.

Summary: The Best Mob Movie Of All Time
Review: This is by far one of Martin scorsese's best film's and always will be. Robert Richerdson's Photography is brillent and the performances are wonderful from the whole cast. The DVD is ok it has good picture and sound thats about it. But the violence is extremely graphic and I am surprized that it didnt get The NC-17 rating. But its still a very brillent picture.

Warning: This film contains Extremely Graphic Prolonged Brutal Violence including Strong language,Strong Drug Use,and some strong sexuality. You Have Been Warned About The Violence In The Film.
