Review: It's hard to come up with what it is about Tom Hanks, but he's got it. We have watched this 4 or 5 times now and it is excellent. I am not a huge S. King fan, but this story is marvellous.

Review: From the director of Shawshank Redemption comes another awesome movie!! Frank Darabont has to be one of the best storytelling directors in the business today. The Green Mile although not a sequel to Shawshank, follows where it left off. It grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let you go until the very end. You will find it very hard to step away for a minute with the way this story is told. This is definately one for your DVD collection because you want to watch it again and again.

Review: Stephen King's story THE GREEN MILE adapted to film could not have been imporved upon in any manner for keeping to the story. Yes, there are some scenes in the book missing from the movie but everything cannot be included and sometimes things need to be changed a little. Hence, why people always say 'the book was better than the movie'. In this case, however, they did an awesome job! The casting of Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan were perfect. Who else could have portrayed the prison guard with so much depth and reality as Hanks? No one. Who else could have played the gentle giant with a gift from God and a curse of such pain & sorrow? He (Duncan)covered the range of emotions needed and is a superb actor! I love this story and the DVD is awesome. I find something new every single time I watch it. The movie is so worth the time to watch and it will leave you pondering many questions long after it is over. Grab a kleenex and enjoy!

Summary: Michael Clarke Duncan deserved an Oscar for this performance
Review: This is a film about miracles within a place where cynicism rules, set in an age where ignorance and connections prevailed. This story is about the arrival of John Coffey into a prison wing run by Tom Hanks and the effect he has on all around him. Coffey (like the drink but spelled different) has been sentenced to death for the murder of two little girls, although it is obvious to the audience that he couldn't have done it. This film has a fine ensemble cast with Hanks, Michael Clarke Duncan (why only Oscar-nominated?), Barry Pepper and David Morse in fine form. The other members of the cast are also very good with Doug Hutchison playing Percy the deranged guard with family connections, his most twisted and evil role since Victor Eugene Tooms in the X-Files. And who can forget Mr Jinks, the miracle mouse who can play fetch with cotton reels? I'm normally a blockbuster viewer, lots of car chases and explosions, so this film is a real change of pace. However, like the Shawshank Redemption before it, the quality of this film transcends genres and will bring something to everyone who watches it. Stephen King has rarely had quality films made of his output, this one is an absolute gem. Note: this is a film you need to see in one sitting from start to finish, so make sure you have a 3 hour window available before watching. Close your curtains, take the phone off the hook and enjoy.

Summary: Very touching movie
Review: First of all, I thought everyone gave an outstanding performance -- Especially Michael Clarke (Duncan) and Tom (Hanks). Their performances were the most moving in my opinion. I was REALLY amazed by John's (Michael Clarke Duncan) faith healing power. The only thing I was scared of was some of the violence -- Especially Percy's (Doug Hutchison) violent ways. Other than that, I enjoyed the movie. In conclusion, THE GREEN MILE was a very touching movie. If you haven't seen it, go out there, rent it or buy it, kick back with a friend, and watch it.

Summary: A GENTLE GIANT!
Review: A compelling look into the lives of men on death row and the circumstances which brought them to prison. One, a gentle giant possesses the gift of clairvoyance and healing. His innocence, and gift is recognized by a few compassionate prison guards and the prison warden whose sick wife is cured by his efforts. Tom Hanks and a superb cast make this film believable. It is an intense, alternately cruel and beautiful production. Much like "Shawshank Redemption" and "Cider House Rules."

Summary: Either you'll love it or you'll hate it
Review: *Be Forewarned* - The Green Mile aims straight at the heart and the tear ducts, not the head. Intellectually stimulating fare this movie definitely is not. Does it pander to people in search of a mindless tear-jerker of a flick? You bet. The characters are paper-thin & one-dimensional P>The message of the film - life is hard & we make it harder on one another - is contradictory & self-defeating in that the film's two supposed heroes (John Coffey and Paul Edgecomb) both manage to embody the epitome of cowardice (Edgecomb - moral cowardice; Coffey - spiritual cowardice & self-pity). If you need a good cry, then this may be the film for you. If you like crying for people who feel sorry for themselves and whine about how hard life is, then this may be the film for you. If you are a fan of self-pity and moral cowardice, then this is definitely the film for you! But if you want something of substance then pass on this turkey of a film.

Summary: The Oscar Mile: American Beauty wins by a nose
Review: A very, very good film. Although it did not match up to Shawshank, it had its own good stuff. About a miracle man up for execution, you guessed it, he didnt do it. Tom Hanks and David Morse do a great job. Tom Hanks now does all kinds of things that are not comedy. This would have won best picture easily, but one problem. Too many other good ones to choose from! I have never seen American Beauty, but I expect that it must be pretty ******* good to beat this, The Sixth Sense, and whatever else there was. See this, you wont soon forget.

Summary: Stupendous!
Review: This was a great movie. It had characters that you felt sorry for (John and Dale) and had characters that you absolutely hated (Persy and Wild Bill) This movie had drama, the sense of supernatural phenomena that all King movie's/books have, and a great cast. The actors actually did a good job of portraying the times and what they all did. My advice would be to see this movie, because it's nothing short of a masterpiece!
