Rating: Summary: SURPRISINGLY EXCELLENT! Review: I never expected to like this movie. I thought it was more hype than substance. Since that ill-conceived little notion, I have watched this movie over and over, never tiring of it. This is the mark of a true classic - when you find yourself slipping it into the VCR/DVD every so often. It is for me a movie that will endure and I highly recommend it.

Rating: Summary: Tom Hanks' best performance Review: Forrest Gump ( Tom Hanks ) is a decent man that is also mentally challenged. He is raised in the south alone by his mother (Sally Field), and is in love with his childhood best friend Jenny (Robin Wright). Forrest soon realizes that his ability as a runner is going to take him places. As a college football star he meets John F. Kennedy; as he fights in Vietnam he wins the medal of honor; and as a talented ping pong player, he defeats the Chinese national team causing him to meet and be recognized by Nixon. Forrest goes on to become a succesful shrimp boat captain, and an original investor in Apple conputers. But he still cannot forget his one true love Jenny, who we watch go down a path in the 1960's and 70's that is nothing but trouble. These with all the other memorable events in Forrest's charmed life really provides for a memorable and emotional experience!! Forrest Gump is one of my all time favorite films. It offers an extremely original story. The script is incredible and offers brilliant and funny dialogue which makes all of the film's actors do a great job. Tom Hanks was very deserving of the oscar that he won for this film. It is the best performance of his career. He truly captured the essence of Forrest Gump with his simple nature, his love for Jenny, and his life in general. Gary Sinese was amazing as Captain Dan. He was actually my favorite character in the film. Robin Wright does an incredible job as Jenny. Sally Fields does a nice job with the limited amount of screen time she has as Forrest's mom. Mykelti Williamson gave the most surprising performance with his portrayal of Forrest's friend Bubba. His endless knowledge about Shrimp will make you laugh and the friendship between Forrest and him is very touching. The film also has excellent special effects. The news reel footage that Hanks' is spliced into is very realistic and convincing. They provide for some of the funniest moments in the film. Forrest Gump is a true masterpiece that offers brilliant performances, a detailed look at our nation's history, an incredible script, and mind blowing special effects. It is truly one of a kind! The DVD is great. The 2 disc special edition really lets you see the film in a whole new light! It offers 5 unbelieveable featurettes that go into the making of the film, the makeup, the sound effects, the production design, and the visual effects! Not to mention the presentation of the film is top notch. If there was one film that you were looking to own on DVD, it should definately be Forrest Gump.
Rating: Summary: Forrest Gump is a good movie. Review: If you like Tom Hanks then you will love this movie. A must see for any movie fan.

Rating: Summary: Utterly improbable, utterly delightful, utterly heartwarming Review: Tom Hanks can play everything: hero, castaway, romantic lead, and now a sweet dull-witted guy in love with his childhood playmate. Forrest Gump manages to be at the center of many pivotal events of the 20th century: Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Vietnam, ML King, etc. Thanks to a connection made during his war years with a shrimp-loving guy from Louisiana, he falls easily into wealth and becomes a charitable benefactor. Meanwhile, his childhood love has fallen victim to sex, drugs, and rock and roll, and suffers the consequences, leaving Forrest to raise the son that they conceived during what we are led to believe is Gump's one and only sexual experience. Superb visual effects put Gump into real newsreel clips, and OH! The sound track! Don't miss it.
Rating: Summary: loaded with Oscar worthy performances Review: I saw this movie when I was 11, and remember it being one of the first films I knew was actually genius. This movie is where I got the little history I know from. One of Robin Wright's 2 breakthrough performances (along with Princess Bride) and another of Hank's Oscar winning roles (greatly deserved). And you can't mention great performances without mentioning those by Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson, and Sally Field. Too bad they all couldn't have won Oscars. I was really excited about the special edition DVD and was not disappointed. Highlights include 2 commentarys, audition footage of a 5 year old Haley Joel Osment, a documentary and special effects footage. The technological advancements made with this film are spectacular and it's really interesting to see just how difficult things that may only appear on screen for a few seconds were to film, take after take. I greatly respect and admire all those involved with this film. And agree with everyone that includes this movie as one of the classics.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant box of chocolates we got here Review: Forrest Gump was a shocker to me. It was SO good, so unexpected, so complete, so kindly about poking a little fun at itself... Just tremendous! If you have not seen this, you must do so. You won't regret it. A terrific, terrific film!
Rating: Summary: Life Is Like A Box Of Chocolates Review: Film: Forrest Gump(1994) 142 Minutes Actor: Tom Hanks Actress: Sally Fields, Robin Wright Director: Robert Zemeckis Studio: Paramount Pictures Nominations/ Awards Academy Award (AA) The film was in color and sound was Hi-Fi stereo. Forrest Gump is an outstanding movie; Tom Hanks and Sally Fields played excellent rolls. The characters of Forrest Gump and Mrs. Gump could have only been played by Tom Hanks and Sally Fields. The movie took place in a small town in Alabama during the 1950' through the 1980's. The story began with Forrest not being allowed to attend public school due to an IQ of 75. His mother convinced the school officials to allow Forrest to attend public school. Forrest was laughed at and bullies threw rocks at him. Forrest's only friend, Jenny encourged him to run as fast as he could. After high school Forrest received a football scholarship to the University of Alabama where he excelled carrying the football. After graduating from the university Forrest joined the Army and was sent to Vietnam where he had to run for his life. During his tour in Vietnam Forrest met Bubba and they became best friends. Bubba encouraged Forrest to go into the shrimping business after he got out of the Army. Forrest became a wealthy man, however he gave much of his money away. When Forrest got word his mama was sick he went home to take care of her. After Mrs. Gump's death Jenny came back into Forrest's life and they eventually married. Mrs. Gump would tell Forrest "life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get", "stupid is as stupid does", and if God had intended for everyone to be the same, he would have given everyone braces". I recommend this movie to everyone. Forrest Gump is rated PG 13; It is the best movie that I have seen.
