Rating: Summary: This film has not aged like wine Review: When I first saw this movie, I was moved--it was funny and sad. I felt that Tom Hanks' performance was one of the best I'd seen. I was dazzled by the idea that so much of the film was done through computer manipulation. I was 14 years old. Five years after the fact, the film has not aged well. There are inspired notes--I still enjoy the sequence where Forrest runs across America several times--but they are outweighed by bad puns and clunking dialogue. Forrest stupidly showing his rear end to LBJ, or serving as the inspiration for John Lennon's song "Imagine", or telling Jack Kennedy that he needs to evacuate his blatter--these things are no longer amusing. The film has lost its lustre. I still admire Hanks' nuanced and subtle performance, but he was better as a little boy trapped in a man's body in "Big" and as rock-solid James Lovell in "Apollo 13". Gary Sinise pumps as much as he can into the cliched Lt. Dan, but he, too, has been better elsewhere (see his magnificent performance as George in "Of Mice and Men," which he also directed); the effort is honorable but even his considerable talents cannot redeem the part. The film is not a total waste; if you can get past the conservative sloganeering disguised as liberal babbling, and the occasional idiocy of the script, the film has its moments.
Rating: Summary: funny, sad and great Review: this is a great movie. my favorite scene is where maggie says run forrest run and his leg braces come off. it's a must see!
Rating: Summary: Tom Hanks's Best Yet! Review: I loved this movie. It definately had a lot of sexual content, but the movie itself is about what love really is, life's lessons, and accepting yourself for who you are. Also shown is the message You can do anything you put your mind to. I am a big fan of Tom Hanks, and I think this was by far one of his best performances.
Rating: Summary: This is the greatest! Review: Forrest Gump is the greatest movie of all time. I can say this, because it's the truth. It's touching, humourous, and leaves everyone who has seen it a better person. It makes you think, while keeping you entertained. Although I'm not old enough to fully appreciate all the history in the movie, I feel that Forrest Gump helped me feel like I was there. Everyone needs to see this!
Rating: Summary: ANOTHER OVERRATED FILM!!! Review: The moviegoing public must have turned off their brains when they watched this mindless and stupid piece of contamination. Surprisingly, all the characters act meaningless and they were awfully acting. Plus, the special effects blending famous scenes from the past is just a distraction to keep away the viewer from realizing the filth of this overrated film that will remain, in my opinion, one of the worst films trying to be sympathetic!
Rating: Summary: If not THE best, it's one of the best Review: This is my favorite movie of all time because it has everything a movie should have: action, drama and humor(without resorting to cheesiness as most movies do). It ties in many years of American history with a simpleton living the American Dream. For those who don't agree that this is a great film, you probably think that Cuckoos Nest is bad because there are too many retards in it.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST FILM EVER Review: WHY ON EARTH COULDNT HOLLYWOOD MAKE FILMS LIKE THIS? THIS WAS AN EPIC. IT TAUGHT US EVERYTHING WE COULD LEARN IN 3 HOURS AND DID IT SO SHOCKINGLY. THOSE IDIDOTS WHO HATE THIS FILM ARE THE ONES WHO THINK WILD WILD WEST AND GODZILLA ARE GREAT FILMS BECAUSE THEY ONLY LIKE THE SPECIAL EFFECTS AND NOT A STORY WHICH MAKES A FILM A REAL FILM. TOO BAD IT DIDNT WIN EVERY OSCAR!
Rating: Summary: Tom Hanks is awesome! Review: Tom Hanks gave the performance of his life in this movie. I'm glad he won the Oscar for it, he deserved it so much.
Rating: Summary: Ugh .... Review: ... highly overrated sappy nonsense. Filled with one tired old cliche' after another all wrapped up in one sappy theme. Only reason I gave it more than 1 star was for the clever use of spliced vintage footage.
Rating: Summary: One of the most overrated films in recent years. Review: I suppose I am in the minority, but I felt this was one of the most overrated films in recent years. It was a depressing movie and seemed to send a message that if you are a simpleton, you will also live the American dream. I thought Hanks gave a good performance, but gave better ones in "Philadelphia","Apollo 13", and most recently in "Saving Private Ryan". How this has become a classic shows just how few original films are being made in the 1990's.
