Summary: a pure johnny depp classic
Review: This truly is one of johnny depp's most wonderful films in my opinion. I may be a bit biast since i am completely in love with johnny but he is a really amazing actor and i would highly highly recommend this movie. No other actor could have played this character. I hate it when people rate movies on this site and give the whole movie away by telling you the entire plot so i would just say please see this movie, you will not regret it.

Summary: Magical - Surreal - Captivating
Review: Edward Scissorhands is not only a brilliant study of man-made emotions such hate/hostility/love/prejudice, it is also a super analysis of the fear of the unknown. Johnny Depp (who is simply fantastic in this great film) plays Edward, the lonely, caring, and artistic man(depending on opinion) who is found by an Avon lady one day in his dark, gloomy home. She brings him to her warm, colourful neighbourhood and integrates him with the family. As a viewer, you'll hope that Edward lives happily but with his scissor like hands, the likelyhood of him being 'normal' is slim. Is he accepted? Does he find love? These questions can only be answered when you watch this film. The film unravels itself to be a great piece of cinematic work as it uses bright colours and characters to portray the environment that Edward is living in. The film counts on the actor who is playing Edward to deliver a magnificent performance and Johnny Depp just does that. I can't imagine anyone else playing him. He is more than just looks, he has undeniable talent and if you have doubted him before, you'll change your mind when you watch this film. In terms of a film that has soul, character and emotion in it, Edward Scissorhands has all of it. Undoubtedly one of the best film of the 1990s.

Review: Edward Scissorhands was a piece of my childhood & remains as a favorite film to me to this day. This movie is pure genius, to say the least...with a perfectly picked cast, especially Johnny Depp & his eyes that do a lot of the acting, the emotion & feeling behind the movie equipped with a heart wrenching sound track-- The story line is absolutely beautiful, & this movie is a must see for people who apreciate art in the form of film.

Review: It is interesting to me how people either hate this film or absolutely love it. There doesn't seem to be a middle. (people either give it 5 stars. or 1 star) I happen to be one of those who love it. The whole thing is awesome. The plot, the music, the characters, i can go on... I don't like giving things away, but if you haven't seen this movie yet it is a MUST SEE. Seriously. But let me warn you, it is not a "happy" film. I always cry whenever I see it. It is my favorite Tim Burton film, and one of my favorite movies of all time. SEE IT! SEE IT! haha :)

Summary: Edward Scissorhands Is Burton's Best.
Review: Edward Scissorhands, director Tim Burton's fifth film, is, in my opinion, his best non-claymation film. Starring Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorhands, this film is all-around quite well-made. The directing is odd and memorable, but not too intrusive--the same goes for the story. Edward Scissorhands is set in a frightening characterization of a suburban neighborhood--there, all the houses are the same [except for their pastel colors], and, at the end of the cul-de-sac, what else could there possibly be but a large medieval castle, Edward's first home. Edward is a poor scientific experiment who is left unfinished when his creator [Vincent Price, in his last film] dies, leaving him with makeshift scissorhands, never making Edward some real human hands. After his master dies, Edward is left skulking about the castle until a wandering Avon woman happens up to the castle and wants to give him a makeover. Feeling sorry for him, she brings him to her house in the neighborhood below. There he lives with her and her family, including her beautiful daughter, Kim [Winona Ryder]. All of the housewives are fascinated with Edward, and soon Edward's scissorhands get him jobs pruning hedges, grooming dogs and styling women's hair. Edward's scissorhands and his love for Kim soon get him into trouble, however. The ending is dramatic, but not excessively so. The acting is very good, as is the music [again, done by Danny Elfman]. Overall, Edward Scissorhands is a film that should definitely be seen and one which you will certainly enjoy.

Review: this movie is just plain amazing. almost like a gothic fairy tale right out of the pages of a book. Johnny Depp's costume is beautiful. hehe, im sure it makes "normal" people look at goth's a bit differently. the movie touches my heart everytime i see it. the movie is bittersweet, leaving your heart melted and wanting more.

Review: I've seen this movie so many times the tape is worn out. I absolutely love it. Edward is a invention. One day Peg Boggs comes up to the mansion selling Avon products. Well what she sees or who she meets could change her life and her familys forever. She brings Edward home and Edward develops a vrush on her daughter Kim. Part Fantasy Part Sweet Innocent Romance. All great.

Summary: Great Film...problem DVD
Review: This DVD claims to be a 10th anniversary edition. I was really excited to hear what Tim Burton and Danny Elfman had to say in their interviews...problem??? Press either and you are wisked back to the openning menu. In other words "they don't work". I tried to view them on a Sony progressive scan DVD that is no more than a year old and then on my Dell computer. Both could play the movie, which is a real gem, but not the interviews. If the movie weren't so good I'd probably send it back as this is annoying...But hey, its a really cool film. Edward should be required viewing for children, it says so much about how quickly people can adobpt a gang mentality and stop thinking for themselves and it does it in a humorous way. Great movie for anyone whose ever been the "odd man, woman, boy or girl out."

Review: Pirates of the Caribbean has gotten so popular, it seems like most pre-pubescent girls are completely oblivious to Johnny Depp's most worthy-of-seeing movies because they're quite caught up in his very, very, very, very good looks (yum). Not that Pirates of the Caribbean wasn't awesome or anything. Edward Scissorhands is amazing because Tim Burton is a genius and Johnny Depp is playing a good role for his particular talents. It's an obscure role, but, you can't not fall in love with his wonderfully scarred-up face. Well, yeah, the point is that it kicks ass. Yes, I recommend Tim Burton movies ((Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow also with (Johnny Depp), and The Nightmare Before Christmas))

Review: 1990's "Edward Scissorhands" is a sad but beautiful fairy tale that's enveloped in frozen gloom. This movie incorporates Tim Burton's artistic vision with a classic story of social prejudice and acceptance; mankind's nature to fear what he doesn't understand.
Johnny Depp's title character is a vulnerable freak of nature who becomes curious of the outside world. Incomplete and unable to touch the people around him, Edward displays a unique innocence in his scarred and pallid complexion. When a makeup saleswoman named Peg Boggs (Dianne Wiest) invites Edward to live in her house, he becomes a spectacle under the eyes of Peg's nosy neighbors. Such individuals include Joyce, a sexy Southern belle (Kathy Baker) and Marge (Caroline Aaron), whose love to gossip is as big as her bouffant. In scenes that are either amusing or uneasy, Edward struggles with life's most simple routines, such as putting on a shirt and eating dinner. Later, Edward gains a celebrity status with his ability to trim hedges, cut women's hair, and beautify dogs with lightning-quick speed. He becomes so popular that he even appears on a television talk show. However, when he falls in love with Peg's sympathetic daughter Kim (Winona Ryder), poor Edward gets in several ugly confrontations with Jim, her jealous boyfriend (Anthony Michael Hall).
Burton's signature style can be found in the contrasting set designs. Edward's castle is ominous and cold in its ghastly rigidity. The suburban neighborhood, on the other hand, reeks in a grotesque perfection; the spring green lawns and flawless pastel houses exhibit an overly manicured way of life, one where anyone who is different immediately stands out. And, of course, Vincent Price appears as Edward's gentle, slightly mad Inventor. Throughout the film, flashbacks reveal how Price converted a cookie-cutting machine into a man and taught him poetry and etiquette. The sequences also show how the Inventor died before Edward the man was finished. Sadly, this movie would be the last one Price appeared in; in real-life, just after the film was released, the veteran actor passed away.
I strongly recommend this movie to anyone wanting to see a creepy, well-written tale. "Edward Scissorhands" is one of Tim Burton's best, along with "Beetlejuice" and "Mars Attacks."
