Summary: a movie worth owning!
Review: I just love movies where you get to hear the characters tell stories. Especially, hearing Ninny Threadgoode tell one! Jessica Tandy will bring warmth to your heart and laughter to your soul, as she carries you (and Kathy Bates) away with her delightful storytelling. Idgy Threadgoode and Ruth Jamison portray the naughty and good sides of people living back in the 30s. You can't help but love Idgie's spunky/dogmatic character, while holding a protective/motherly love for the gentle, sweet Ruth. These two have the time of their lives together and show true devotion in friendship. Be enveloped into the scenes as Ninny tells them, keep those tissues at hand and have your own copy, because you won't watch it only once!

Review: This is a wonderful film for anyone who loves Kathy Bates. Forget "Titanic" and "Misery"; this is truly her best film. If you forget about the "secret sauce," this is a jewel of a movie.

Review: I have seen this movie so many times and each time I love it even more. I've read the book and it matched with the movie so well. I loved the characters and the actors. Summary: Director Avnet gets a C-minus for ignoring lesbian subtext
Review: Fanny Flagg's novel, though intentionally or nor,portrayed a lesbian subtext relationship between Idgy and Ruth. Even though these heroines were never found between the sheets they definately had a romantic relationship. The book does a much better job at looking at this dynamic; two women who are devoted to each other beyond any other relationship. When, in the movie, the story hints at Ninny really being an older Idgy I was extremely disappointed. In the novel, Ninny is Idgy's sister-in-law; once being married to the eldest Threadgoode boy. They movie, however, does stand on its own as a good movie. However, I don't suggest reading the book first.

Review: This movie is typecast as a chick flick. I however feel that a lot of men will actually love this movie if they open up to it. It will leave you all warm and fuzzy inside. Mary Stuart Masterson and Jessica Tandy are playing the roles of their lives.

Review: It's about time that the studio put out this movie in it's extended version. There are several scenes that help to flesh out the friendship between Evelyn and Ninny, and bring the movie to a much more completeness, that were not seen in the theater-released version.
