Summary: Modern-day classic
Review: "Sleepless In Seattle" is the perfect romantic comedy -- an instant modern-day classic. It pays perfect hommage to the great Golden Era film "An Affair to Remember," while maintaining an appropriately updated feel. What strikes me most about "Sleepless In Seattle" is the amazing chemistry between its costars (Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan), a chemistry that is felt throughout the entire course of the movie -- a movie which uniquely finds the star-crossed lovers apart for the majority of the running time.

This film has become such a classic, proof being its frequent mention in pop-culture these eight years since it's original theatrical release (for instance, television series "ER" featured an episode entitled "Sleepless In Chicago," containing a heartwrenching scene involving two very popular characters, star-crossed lovers Hathaway & Ross). A must-see for all who love an uplifting, heartfelt, touching, and often times funny romance!

Summary: Nora Ephron Didn't Write This Movie
Review: One of the reasons this film towers above Nora Ephron's other efforts is that the story and original screenplay were written by Jeff Arch. Ms. Ephron's contribution to the script consisted of tinkering around the edges, and a few food and sex jokes. I only point this out because Nora Ephron has a habit of taking credit for things she did not do. If you want pure Ephron, see the abominable "Hanging Up." As for this film, thank Jeff Arch with an assist from David S. Ward.

Summary: Love in the movies...
Review: Nora Ephron says (in the soundtrack liner notes) "This isn't a movie about love - it's a movie about love in the movies." Keep this in mind, and you may enjoy this movie as much as I do (it also helps to be a woman); however, if you try to see it as a serious and realistic discussion of true love, you will definitely be gagging for the last 20 minutes or so, if not long before. I saw the regular DVD (as opposed to the "Special Edition" DVD) - did not see any problems with the transfer (although I'm not an expert). There are no special features on this DVD *at all* - the menu just gives you the movie and chapter selections. Since I was able to get this disk at a substantial savings over the Special Edition, this is fine with me - I loved the movie, but don't see a need for director commentary, making of, etc.

Summary: Yaaawn...
Review: After watching this movie I had the queasy sensation that I'd overdosed on marshmallows, like blah...It has no substance and zero personality. Talk about overrated! A bunch of people overacting (Meg at her cutesiest) and trying to get through their shallow and meaningless scripts without falling asleep. The one thing it did for me was wish I'd watched An Affair to Remember instead.

Summary: good film
Review: i really enjoyed this film.i felt the Chemistry of Meg Ryan&Tom Hanks.i didn't know if Meg Ryan could be in a romantic movie and pull off the Chemistry that she did with Billy Crystal in when Harry met Sally.but she did with Tom Hanks.it's a cool Laid-back film.

Summary: Only Romance I will Watch
Review: I'm not much for Romance films, but this is my favorite. My wife can't believe I've actually watched this more than a few times. Even though Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks spend very little time together on screen, the film makes you feel that they are spiritually connected throughout. The suupporting cast of Rosie O'Donnel, David Hyde Pearce, Rita Wilson, and Rob Riener add much more than their short time on the screen. No doubt Meg and Tom are the best match since Spencer tracy and Katherene Hepburn. Also, the young boy is one of few child actors that looked like he wasn't trying to act, but rather appeared natural.

Summary: Seattle looks GREAT here!
Review: I live in Seattle, and this movie was a great change from seeing all of the bad publicity that Seattle has gotten lately. I am a fan of all the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan "pair" movies..."Joe Versus the Volcano," "Sleepless In Seattle," and "You've Got Mail." This movie was witty, funny, and cute. Throughout the whole movie, when they showed Seattle, my dad was like "that's by my office" and "I went there!" Tom and Meg are a great team and I really hope that they make more movies together. They create a chemistry that cannot be matched! See this movie!

Summary: An American Classic
Review: My wife and I enjoyed this movie so much that it actually inspired us to MOVE to Seattle from Boston! This movie is a true American classic that will be enjoyed for generations. Tom Hanks is the Jimmy Stewart of the nineties (and then some)! A genuine 'feel good' movie!

Summary: Sleepless Gets Mail
Review: Written & directed by the same woman who wrote & directed "You've Got Mail", has same fantasy quality, same song, and even the same bit actor or two in both movies. While Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are a combination made in Heaven, first watching "Sleepless" then watching "Mail" it was as if one should be Part I and the other Part II (the sequel).....Don't get me wrong, I love both movies....let's face it, when you pair Hanks & Ryan you get a chemistry that can't be matched, I don't care who you pair! It is definetly a "chick's" movie and as a "chick", I can honestly tell you that it is and always will be a movie to see with your favorite "hunk"....if you haven't seen it, see it. If you don't own it, buy it. If you can't buy it, rent it! Borrow it! Do whatever you must, but don't miss this movie! Afterall, fairytales can come true, it can happen to you, if you're young at heart....

Summary: You need see An Affair To Remember to GET IT
Review: When I was a teenager, my favorite movie was An Affair To Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. My best friend, sister and I adored this movie. The depiction of the women in Sleepless in Seattle was us. We could recite the dialog word for word (and still can) and we debated the pronunciation of Deborah Kerr's last name (is it car or is it ker). When we saw these scenes in the movie, we knew that Norah Efron knew exactly how we felt. My husband also enjoyed the film, because he saw that my fascination with An Affair To Remember was not all that unusal. My recommendation is a double bill for a Ladies Night At the Movies: 1st An Affair To Remember, followed by Sleepless In Seattle. A truely fun evening!
