Review: Saw the movie when it came out. Thought it was good. Watching the DVD made me see the movie in a different light. Maybe the best DVD to ever come out. GREAT behind the scenes footage. See Cuba Gooding audition. See Tom Cruise rehearse scenes on an empty set. See deleted scenes. Great movie commentary. The 2-disc DVD set is awesome. The movie stands over time and shows what sports is currently all about. Money!! And Jay Mohr steals the show in this movie.

Review: I loved this movie sooooo much! I just watched it a few days ago actually. I'm such a HUGE fan of movies!(mostly romantic comedies)While I was browsing through a video store the other day, someone reccomended me this movie. So i decided to give it a try. After all, Tom Cruise is one of my favorite actors and he was nominated an oscar for his role in this movie.(too bad he didn't win!) I bought the vcd and watched it that night. The story was so good! It was really really funny, touching and romantic at the same time. Tom Cruise was wonderful as Jerry Maguire! I watched it a hundred times during this past week! I highly reccomend this movie to you! You will definetely NOT regret watching it! This movie will keep you entertained the whole 2 hours.

Anyway, "Jerry Maguire" is about a sports agent(Tom Cruise) with 76 clients and works in one of the top companies. But one night, he realized that he hated his place in the world. So he wrote a mission statement/memo (25 pages)and made 110 copies and distributed it to all his co-workers. But unfortunately, this got him fired. He tried to keep all his 76 clients but welllll...it didn't work. He ended up with only ONE client, his LEAST IMPORTANT client,Rod Stewart(Cuba Gooding Jr. -won best supporting actor for his role here) He left the company with one client, one goldfish(Flipper) and one loyal accountant, Dorothy Boyd(Renee Zellwegger). The rest of the movie shows how he got back on top again, how his only client became a star again and how Jerry Maguire finally understood the true meaning of love. The whole 2 hours kept me laughing and smiling all the way. This movie is mainly about love, respect and loyalty.

The really hilarious part was when Rod made Jerry yell "Show me the money". I just kept on laughing!!!! It was sooo funny! Dorothy's son,Ray (Jonathan Lipnicki)was sooo cute!!! I loved all the scenes where he was with Jerry. I was like, "awwwww..."!!!! OH! And my most favorite part of all was the near-end part wherein Jerry realizes that he truly loved his wife(That's Dorothy. They got married in the middle part, by the way)and that he wasn't COMPLETE without her. You know the famous line of the movie right? hahaha! It's actually "You complete me". That's the unforgettable line of this movie. Call me sappy but i just loved the part where Jerry said that line. I'm just a sucker for romance movies! LOL!=)

Summary: An outstanding special edition for an outstanding movie
Review: Jerry Maguire is Cameron Crowes best film to date. I know I am not alone when I say it is and always will be one of Hollywood's all time greats.

With regard to the DVD, all I can say is thank god I waited.

Sony has done Jerry Maguire proud. This 2-disc edition is stacked with extras and is packaged exceptionally well, but the real highlight is the fantastic full length video-commentary on disc two. A hearty thanks to Tom, Cameron, Cuba and Renee for coming back to do that, as it makes this DVD one of the best ever made.

More producers of DVD's should take this as an example of how to do things right.

Summary: Show me the Crowe!!
Review: I had wanted to purchase this movie, but when I heard that a special edition was coming out, I waited it out. It is worth the wait.This has many features that you would expect from a Cameron Crowe DVD
one example is a feature on how to be an agent.
Many years later, it is ironic that the agent that this movie is based on, Leigh Steinberg, is going through a fall very similar to Jerry Maguire.

Review: This movie is full of character. Can identify with Jerry as
a white collared guy. Also Cuba Gooding Jr is absolutely fantastic in this movie. One of his greatest performances.

Summary: So What?
Review: A predictable love story with an ending you could see coming with the opening credits. Cruise plays, well, Cruise, as only he can. (The man can't truly act his way out of a paper bag-he is so one-dimensional.) Zellweger carries her role well, and Gooding is excellent. I bought the original DVD version at my wife's request (and she now wonders what she was thinking). At least I didn't waste even more money buying the SE version. I give it 2 stars - one for Zellweger, one for Gooding.

That's another thing that frosts me with this industry. They hype the new release, you buy it, and later come out with the SE version. If it's a movie you really want to add to your collection, you get your pocket picked. So, the moral of this story is clear. Don't buy the first version - rent it and wait 6 to 8 months for the better version.

Summary: A movie that can change a man's outlook in life
Review: The first time I saw this movie was in the theaters when I was 14. At the time I remember enjoying the movie, but without any specific insight or understanding of the drama on screen. I simply enjoyed it for all of its entertaining quirks in dialogue and for the unusually involving(for a 14 year old at the time) love story. Afterwards, I found myself thinking about the movie more and more often throughout the years. Watching this movie occasionally became a sort of habit for me. As I matured(at least I hope I have) I came to fully understand the reasons why the film touched me with such significance. The story dealt with a seemingly successful man who also seemed to have everything a man can want and need. The character of Jerry Maguire is the perfect archetype or role model that any parent can hope for their sons; successful and stable. And more often than not most men believe, as they grow up, having a life of financial security and an "efficient" mate, constitutes happiness and a fulfilling lifestyle. Those qualities were denounced early on in the movie. With this knock down of the very things I held high in my priorities in life, the movie was already an attention grabber for me. Slowly, as the story progressed, it gave Jerry Maguire situations after situations of personal challenges and obstacles to get him to the point where his search for his identity and priorities in his life were over. Because of this, I hold this film in the highest regard. It is one of my personal favorites and I'm sure to a lot of others as well. There are better films than this, sure, but I hold this one dearer to my soul than any movie I've ever seen so far in my life.

Summary: You had me at "Hello"
Review: Jerry, a sports agent awakens one evening with a bad case of scruples. Suddenly, the life of a sports agent lacks integrity and honor and must be changed. His life seems empty and he must take steps to fill it. But after he puts his thoughts on paper, is fired from his job and all of his relationships crash and burn. All except for Dorothy, a single mother who can also use a steady relationship.

Writer/Director Cameron Crowe (ALMOST FAMOUS) constructs a solid film with something for everyone in JERRY MAGUIRE. It is a romantic comedy with elements of a sports film. Well, sports acts only as a backdrop. This, like other Crowe films SAY ANYTHING and SINGLES focuses on relationships, foremost the one between Jerry and Dorothy. Tom Cruise carries the film nicely as Jerry, but it is the others in his life that make this film sing. Renée Zellweger is charming and believable as Dorothy. She is an actress who can say more with silence than most can with paragraphs of dialogue. Jonathan Lipnicki plays her scene-stealing son. Guaranteed to be cute, he will definitely have a huge fan club. But, there will probably an even larger group of detractors who are out for blood. With boundless energy, Cuba Gooding, Jr plays Jerry's only loyal client Rod Tidwell and received an Oscar for his work.

But, the true star of this film is Cameron Crowe who again shows he has a knack for attractive characters and dialogue. Like most films, there are some strange decisions. Early in the film Jerry is described as someone who cannot be alone, that he must always be in a relationship. But rather than accomplishing independence to prove the nay Sayers wrong, he jumps right into a relationship. Well, at least it is a nice relationship. Maybe they should have described him as someone who has to be alone for the growth to be more palpable when he commits.

Still, it is a great date film with a lot of energies and subtleties. This early DVD release has no extra material and only Spanish subtitles. But, the video is remastered well and the audio is sufficiently transferred. If you get one thing out of JERRY MAGUIRE it is...

Review: Cameron Crowe is simply one of the greatest filmmakers ever and the great thing is that he isn't done doing it and I'm so honored to be around during his reign. Jerry Maguire touched me from the first time I watched this remarkable story. I even recently came across an old diary/letter I had written to myself. It refers to how I felt at a point in my life like the character Jerry Maguire when he is singing Free Fallin'. I quote myself saying "I was singing out Free Fallin' I felt like Jerry Maguire." I was 16 then, I am a 21 year old aspiring filmmaker now and still watch Jerry Maguire and understand this character. All of these characters I learned to understand. The great thing about Cameron Crowe is that when he writes, he writes from his heart. Not to make money. He explains in the first Almost Famous DVD that he loves to write about the little things that are huge things in a normal persons life. When Ray hugs and kisses Jerry for the first time and how Dorothy is so overwhelmed and touched. Crowe tells that at that point he felt like a real Director. If you haven't read the Jerry Maguire book either buy it or go to the library or book store and read the intro by Cameron. You learn so much more behind this film and you appreciate it so much more. If you love Crowes taste of music in his films I highly recommend that you find on the internet these songs from Jerry Maguire that are not on the soundtrack: Sitting Still Moving Still Staring Outlooking by His Name Is Alive, Requiem Again by Durutti Column and Through The Hill by Andy Partridge and Harold Budd. If you feel as passionate about filmmaking as I do and love Cameron Crowe these songs will ignite that excitement and amazing feeling you get from watching a film that truly touches you. I don't want to get into a lot of detail as far as the story of the film because everybody likes something different but I do recommend you give this film a chance if you haven't seen it already. I also hope that it touches you like it has me.

Summary: So so sweet...
Review: A moving triumphant movie about personal growth and awakening, JERRY MAGUIRE has got several scenes guaranteed to get you misty eyed...not out of sorrow but out of joy. Jerry (Tom Cruise) is a sports agent who suddenly has a realizaion: he's become another shark in a suit. He writes a mission statement (not a memo) on how to improve the business of being a sports agent: "Fewer clients, less money." This way they can give each athlete better personal attention. Seems simple enough (to me it makes perfect sense), but in this day of ME ME ME and MO' MONEY Jerry's humanitarian idea just doesn't fly, and he gets fired. He strikes out to form his own company, maintaining one client (Cuba Gooding Jr. in a funny, moving, charming performance) and one coworker (Rene Zellweger). The movie has several laugh-out-loud moments which draw you in to like the characters, then hits you with the drama. It's an effective one-two punch. Also charming is Rene's son, played by Jonathan Lipnicki. There are lots of movies that use cute kids to carry the movie; thankfully, this isn't one of them. Most notable here is Cruise, who has transformed from a pretty face box office smash guarantee into an actor of astonishing, moving depth. The scene at the end where he comes home to his wife has got to be one of the most touching and sweet in cinematic history. Some people may find it corny, but what can I say...those people aren't human beings. They are the same ones who rather watch movies like Collateral Damage or any other mindless action film with some testosterone-driven "good guy" blowing away countless "bad guys." In this day and age, I think it's time we gave peace a chance. I mean, I've watched my share of violent movies too, but come on people...show some sanity. Instead of watching Jason or Freddy carve their way through countless teenagers, do yourself a favor: watch JERRY MAGUIRE and realize what a great part of the human experience you've been missing.
