Summary: One of the funniest movie I've seen...
Review: The Replacements is one of the funniest movie I've seen in a long time; it was so hilarious! I had to purchase a copy for my video collection. But best of all Keanu Reeves did a great job. I can't wait to see him in his next movie.

Summary: Fab Football Flick
Review: Although I'm a Keanu Reeves fan, I didn't think I would enjoy this movie because I don't have a clue about Football. I was wrong. I loved this movie and learnt a little about the game. It has now become one of my favorite movies.

Summary: Boring and Recycled
Review: Let's get the only two eliments that I liked about the movie out of the way first. 1) The cast: With Keanu Reeves, John Favreau, Orlando Jones, Rhys Ifans and Gene Hackman. 2)The soundtrack: lots of great sport theme songs you would here at a real football or baseball game. The Movie itself. Well, maybe Hollywood thought the world needed a up to date sports comedy. Taking off of other such sports movie as Major League or Necessary Roughness where you have a bunch of underdogs (that are made of rookies, has-beens, and off-the-wall characters) that, if only they work as team, they will beat even the best of the best, win the hearts of all fans and ulitmately get the girl. I like movies like this, but this one didn't seem work. The crew didn't seem to click together, like the actors were just doing this movie inbetween their real projects (Keanu- waiting for Matrix sequels, Favreau- getting back to directing and writing, Orlando Jones- making an actual funny movie with non-recycled gags). The plot seemed too hokie. They needed a story line that could bring together a bunch of underdogs (In Major League, the owner wanted to put together the worst team so she could get relocated to a new stadium. In Necessary Roughness, the actual college players were pulled from the field because of bribes and under the table perks they were getting). In this movie, the actual pro-team players go on strike mid season forcing the owners to bring in average joes (with remarkable abilities ofcourse) to fill in their places (which is probably taking off the real life strike Pro Baseball went through and owners recruited outside players). The striking proplayers turn into the school bullies, all loyally following their quarterback, as they attempt to torment the players (turning over Falco's ((Reeves)) truck on more than one occasion). There is bar fight, a leading lady (which claims she doesn't date football players, but just happens to fall for one in this particular instance) and plenty of slap-stick gags that seems they may appeal best to 12 year old males. This isn't the first time Keanu has played a former football player. He goes from Johnny Utah (college quarterback turned FBI surfer in Point Break to Footsteps Falco in this movie). This isn't the first football movie for John Faveau, he played an over-weight nerd in Rudy. Gene Hackman played a better coach in Hoosiers. For some of these actors like Orlando Jones or Rhys Ifan this may be a big deal. Major motion pictures with big names to help out on their resume. Not that they haven't played in other movies with equally big stars, this one didn't hurt. For me, with the amount of actors in the movie, it makes playing "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon" that much easier. All and all, don't worry about rushing to your local video store to see this one anytime soon. If you like any of the actors in this movie, then it may be something you may want to pick up.

Summary: Very Predictable, But Still Good
Review: As football movies go, "The Replacements" doesn't break any new ground. I found it rather similar to "Necessary Roughness" except that the latter movie dealt with a college football team on probation whereas this film is about a pro team that replaces its striking players with unknowns looking for a second chance at glory. The rather ugly word "scab" comes to mind here and thankfully is used only a few times in the film.

Keanu Reeves is good but unremarkable as ex-college quarterback Shane Falco, who choked in a bowl game only to become a footnote in college football history. One customer reviewer refers to Reeves' performance as a "comeback", but I question the accuracy of that statement. "The Replacements" is Reeves' first movie since "The Matrix", which although critically panned did reasonably at the box office and is somewhat of a cult favorite. I for one don't think his career was in decline to begin with. Gene Hackman turns in his usual fine performance as the team's coach, rehired by owner Jack Warden.

As one might expect with this type of picture, the replacement players are a ragtag unruly bunch until Falco provides some much needed leadership. From there, the team continues until its last game before the playoffs by which time its regular quarterback has decided to cross the picket line. I don't want to spoil the rest of the picture but I'm betting you already know how it ends by this time. Although very predictable, this movie is still fun to watch because it doesn't take itself that seriously.

Summary: Ready, Set, Laugh!!!!!!
Review: If you are watching this movie with an open mind, you will enjoy this movie. I was unsure about buying this on dvd, but I am really glad I did. It might be a good idea to check your IQ at the door, and just sit back and have a hoot of a time. After all you don't often see guy who looks like a sumo wrestler carrying the ball. There is a lot of corn in this movie, but I dare anyone to try not giggle during the movie. This is a feel good movie, and not brain surgery. Now sit back and get ready to laugh.!!!

Summary: Increddibly Hilarios!!!
Review: This movie will give you laughs for hours. It was filled with imature but funny events. I would give this movie a 100 stars if possible but they only give you five. From bar fights to increddibly riddiculous plays this a thumbs up. If you are into the funny stuff get this DVD.

Summary: Great movie!
Review: This was a great movie. Keanu Reeves was the best part of the whole movie. He was so strong and sexy. I could have done without having to watch the Sumo wrestler guy eat all those boiled eggs and then throw them all up on the field later, but other than that is was a very good movie.

Summary: Avoid This Film At All Costs! You Have Been Warned.
Review: If you have any sense, you will not even consider watching this pile of refuse on free television (I hope I never see the day). The acting is amazingly bad. If you're doubting me, wait until the part where Keanu meets the cheerleader. Even her cheerleading is bad. I don't know how Gene Hackman ended up on the cast list, but this acting credit is now a blight on his career. The direction is so pathetically terrible. A film school drop-out could have done better. What an awful, awful mess. Thank goodness I did not watch more than 30 minutes of this plodding nonsense. If over-done sight-gags and prat-falls are your thing, watch this and be amazed. If you've seen other sports-themed comedies and enjoyed them, please watch them again and avoid this one. This movie can only be described as miserable trash. I only wish I could give less than 1 star.

Summary: "Bomber crew" wins again
Review: Another of the genre of "any group of lovable losers can triumph over anything given the right motivation" movie.

Predictable from the start. I got sucked in because I didn't think Gene Hackman would have become involved in such garbage. He does well- as he always does- but even Sir Lawrence Olivier couldn't have saved this movie.
