Summary: Movie was great
Review: This movie was great, funny yet serious at times. My favorite
actor Kneau Reeves was just brillant. I am going to buy
every movie he made. After Speed he truly is better with
each movie. The cast was just perfect. I will watch this movie
many many times and it will be a keeper.

Summary: Not a football fan
Review: I sat down to watch this movie with very low expectations. Keanu Reeves has a uneven acting career that makes me leery. I was pleasantly surprised by the humor and humanity portrayed here. I laughed out loud throughout most of the movie. If you are a big Keanu fan you will love him in this. He is in good physical shape and his acting is not too bad. I have always been a big fan of Gene Hackmans and he does not disappoint this time around. It is well known that Keanu gave up a few million so they could afford to bring in Gene Hackman, I wondered as I was watching how they could afford both 10 million dollar actors!
This movie earned its PG-13 (sexual content)rating so be mindful of your kids!

Summary: Simple and predictable story... but fun to watch
Review: Boy meets girl, buddies, underdog vs. favorite, a chance at redemption, throw in the expected group of misfits, some strippers, a little sentimemtality and there you have it. Hmm... sounds kinda like Armageddon (Another film I really liked).

First and foremost the film is just funny. Whether it's John Madden diagrammin' a bustin play or guys goin' after their own teammates. Ok... so a lot of the humor was pretty infantile. So what. It's still funny.

Just check it out for what films still can be. Entertaining.

Summary: The Replacements
Review: Great movie for anyone, but if you're a Keanu Reeves fan (which I am) you will love this! Not like alot of those sports movies that think you have to have alot of bed scenes to make it, this movie is funny and makes you cheer for the underdogs. Gene Hackman is excelllent as always But Keanu is the one to watch as the washed up Quarterback making his place and bringing his team together like no other. The jail scene is one of the many enjoyable team efforts. Great movie...own it, rent it but make sure to see it.

Summary: From the female perspective...
Review: I had heard about this movie being made since friends of mine were extras during filming done in Baltimore. Since it was supposedly a football movie, I did not rush to the theater to see it, but waited. When I finally watched it I definately thought that this movie was right up my alley. It starts out with the football league players all going on strike since they weren't making enough money. The players were portrayed as spoiled know it all types. So, to salvage the season, the owner of the Washington Sentinels hires a coach played by Gene Hackman to scout and put together a team of replacement players. The variety of guys is incredible and sets the audience up for a lot of laughs to follow. The quarterback of this team is played by Keanu Reeves who plays a solid working class guy who is now given a second chance for glory.

There is the inevitable romance, tons of laughs, and football sequences where you don't have to know much about the game to understand what is going on. I thought that this was a cute, funny, romantic movie to watch. I'm not sure if it's one that I could watch over and over again or if it really has any memorable lines, but definately worth watching at least once. If you found Major League to be entertaining, but more with football then this is your type of movie.

Summary: Little Gians Retro
Review: This movie was awesome. it has been a long time since i stayed well over midnight to watch a movie that didn't end until well after 3 a.m. this movie reminded me a bit of little giants [the old 94 or something like taht movie in which it is a little pee wee football game b/t two brothers]. Nevertheless, Rhys Ifans is funny, being welsh and wirey. i recommend this movie to everyone

Summary: Did Gene Hackman Really Need The Work This Bad?
Review: Right up front, you should know that the plot of "The Replacements" is one that has been rehashed countless times in Hollywood: a grizzled veteran is called in to coach a bunch of misfits, inspire them, and ultimately lead them to the promised land ("Major League," "Necessary Roughness" or "The Mighty Ducks" anyone?). While such movies usually provide their share of chuckles despite the unoriginal plot lines, "The Replacements" rarely even does that. The plot centers around NFL owners having to draft replacements to fill in for the real players who have gone out on strike. Predictably, the usual ragged band of louts and misfits show up to play for coach Jimmy McGinty (Gene Hackman) of the fictitious Washington Sentinels, including washed up quarterback Shane Falco (Keanu Reeves). Throw in a sub-plot involving a love interest for Reeves, a slightly eccentric owner (played by Jack Warden), and, or course, the entire season coming down to one final play as time is running out, and well, you can pretty much guess what happens. This has to be Reeves' flattest performance yet (and that's really saying something - he rarely changes expression in this one). What's puzzling is what Gene Hackman, surely one of the best actors in cinematic history, is doing here. For gluttons only...

Summary: This movie was shot in my home town...so...
Review: at first that was the ONLY reason I got it. I wanted to see if I recognized anyone or anything in our area. But! it turned out to be the funniest movie I have seen in a very long time. I have always been a big football fan and watching this was hilarious. I laughed so much my sides hurt and I had tears in my eyes. (You have to be a fan and understand the game for the most part to enjoy this movie) I thought Keanu was very believable as fallen quarterback. He even surprised me in this role. I have added this to my collection, it's now #1 on my favs shelf. Blessed Be, Rane
