Rating: Summary: This left me wanting more.. Review: I don't often sit thru' an entire movie without moving at all, but I sat through this whole movie. It was good in that the story was told fluently by the mature acting of the young cast. I think the adult cast merely cameoed. In fact, Rosie O'Donnell and Demi Moore's face looked devoid of emotion most of the time. But the young cast was brilliant. The camaraderie among the four girls was brought out in such an awfully touching manner. A good movie about childhood should be one that leaves the audience wishing people never have to grow up, and this was one of those movies.
Rating: Summary: nice bit of nostalgia Review: I saw this film at the theater when it first appeared in 1995.I loved the late '60s music and the beautiful photography.I enjoyed the script and the young actors as well.In spite of the criticism which has been levelled at this movie, the characters are sympathetic and the emotions are real.Granted, the movie is not CITIZEN KANE,but it still makes an important statement about friendship, and it does so in a fun way.An excellent movie for 9-13-year-olds of both genders.
Rating: Summary: Fun to Watch Review: Now and Then is about four best friends who live a brand new 1970's neighborhood. It is a whole lot of fun to watch and has a lot of good songs. The four best friends is Teeny, Roberta, Crissy, and Samantha (Sam) and they are always hanging out and sometimes they meet the Wormers witch they all hate but later Roberta starts liking one of the Wormers.
Rating: Summary: NOW AND THEN Review: OH MY GOD IF U HAVEN'T ALREADY SEEN THIS FILM U DON'T KNOW WOT UR MISSING. I'M 15 AND I FIRST SAW THIS FILM ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO. AT THE TIME I COULD TOTALLY RELATE TO THE STORYLINES IN THE MOVIE. ALTHOUGH THE PLOT NO LONGER RELATES TO MY LIFE I STILL GET A WARM FEELING INSIDE WHENEVER I WATCH IT. ITS FULL OF COMEDY MOMENTS E.G WHEN THE GIRLS STEAL THE WORMERS CLOTHES BUT ALSO FULL OF EMOTIONAL MOMENTS LIKE SAMANTHA TELLING TEENY BOUT HER PARENTS DIVORCE. THIS IS DEFINATELY A FILM TO WATCH WITH THE GIRLS AND UNLESS UR ALIEN WILL DEFINATELY MAKE U REALISE HOW MUCH U NEED GREAT FRIENDS. I DONT THINK I WILL EVER BE ABLE 2 EXPLAIN HOW MUCH THIS FILM HAS CHANGED MY LIFE BUT I KNOW IT WILL TAKE PRIDE OF PLACE ON MY SHELF FOR MANY YEARS TO COME
Rating: Summary: NOW AND THEN rocks! Review: I just love NOW AND THEN. It's about four best friends who recall their lives growing up as kids one summer. The film starts out when they are adults, going back to their home, and then it goes into the 60s when they were kids...and then at the end, back to their adulthood. The film is all about what they go through that one summer: hilarious moments, depressing moments, scary moments, and so on. They remember trying to bring back a 12-year-old boy who died and they remember trying to find out how he died. They remember stuff about their families, and they even remember the pranks they pulled on each other and pranks they pulled on a group of neighborhood boys, who also played pranks on them!NOW AND THEN stars Rosie O'Donnell and Christina Ricci as Roberta, Demi Moore and Gaby Hoffmann as Samantha, Thora Birch and Melanie Griffith as Teeny, and Rita Wilson and Ashleigh Aston Moore as Chrissy. Devon Sawa, Bonnie Hunt, and Brendan Fraser also star in this delightful comedy classic. If you love coming of age films, then I definitely suggest this to your collection. NOW AND THEN is a wonderful film with excellent acting and a terrific screenplay. Go and buy it!
Rating: Summary: Wow!!! Review: I love this movie and I always will. This film has always helped me cheer up and it also helps me appreciate my life and friendships I have. It also tell me how people ,young or old, can grow so quickly and how much we all need friends to help us muddle through the bad times. This story shows Samantha (Gaby Hoffman and Demi Moore) trying to cope with her parents getting a divorce and how ,even in movies, it is hard to do that. I would say that my favourite character in 'Now and Then' is Roberta (Christina Ricci and Rosie O'Donnell) as she reminds me of myself because she doesn't care about getting dirty and how she sticks up for herself but also as she needs her friends as much as anyone else does. I like all of the characters because they all have such different personalities and that is why I love this film so much.
Rating: Summary: Not just for the 13 yr olds out there! Review: So ok, maybe I was 12 when I first saw this movie but I am 17 now and it still takes pride of place in my collection. Maybe its because I love 'Stand By Me' (and you gotta admit they have their similarities) but all in all, this is a movie that I have grown up with and has been the movie that me and my mates watch (religiously) whenever we go round each others houses. It is a movie that not only has a great storyline, but also a great soundtrack that gets you in the mood for a laugh. The added bonus of Brendan Fraser (hubbada hubbada hubbada) makes this all the more worthwhile! Anyone who doesnt even give this movie a go (for unknown, twisted and strange reasons) should be damned to the darkest regions of hell and made to watch old re-runs of some really BAD 70's american 'comedy' television series.
Rating: Summary: A perfect movie for pre-teens and teens! Review: At first I was getting bummed because there was no movies for twelve year old kids that were interesting, they were either too young or to old. Well, I found this one, and it turned out to be one of my favourite movies! My favourite parts are when Samantha tells Teeny about her parents getting a divorce(I can totally realate to that), and also when they hide the boys clothes!! A perfect movie for teens!
Rating: Summary: Watch this movie!! Watch this Movie!! Trust me! Review: Gather up your three best gal pals, one of those extra-large containers of popcorn (c'mon, you know you put it for some special occasion!), some soda, a nice comfy spot, and put Now and Then in your closest VCR and you'll thank me. I first watched this at camp last summer - as part of a movie night where a blustery rainy day had turned to night and the counselors decided it was time to stop complaining how bored we were, it was time to watch a movie. So, in our bunk where she brought in a television and VCR (which, to our amazement, made us all want to sneak into the counselors' lounge more often than we already wanted to), we watched Now and Then beginning to end. Occasionally we cried. Often we laughed. But we had bonded over a movie that clearly described what we were - stereotypical 12 year old girls. Watch Now and Then. If you're a preteen, teenager, or just 13 like me, you'll re-watch this again and again. It's one of the best movies around!!!
