Summary: Mandy makes it all worthwhile
Review: This movie doesn't work on several levels but what does work is Mandy Moore's performance as a confused but independent teenager. She's really quite remarkable. She's natural, charming, pretty (but not too pretty) and so very convincing. You probably didn't see it in the theatres (I was one of the few who did) so be sure to catch it when the DVD is available. Mandy is going to be a huge star once Hollywood figures out what to do with her.

Review: This movie was so good. Having read the 2 books it was based on before seeing it, I knew what I was in for- a very dramatic movie. I can't say enough about mandy's acting talent and the rest of the casts as well. They took the two books and made it a great movie. I wish the movie could have been in the theaters for longer than a week to give it a chnace to be seen by more people. I think people prejudged the movie because of having Mandy Moore as one of the cast members but it was an incredibly well done movie that deserves more credit than given by the public.

Summary: Too much...
Review: This could've been a great movie, well, as great as teen movies can really be... This movie was based on two novels by Sarah Dessen, That Summer and Someone Like You that have absolutely nothing in common, and it shows onscreen. Too much drama, too many problems, all packed into a less than 2 hour movie. Do yourself a favor, save the 8 bucks and rent the movie... allowing yourself to fast-forward through some needless scenes.

Summary: Second Times the Best
Review: The first time watching this movie, I enjoyed it, but I was overly critical, thinking there were far too many disasters, and emotional outbursts. Being the huge Mandy moore fan that I am I went to see it again, and the second time I just sat back, and I LOVED it! You find more comedy in it the second time that it almost over shadowed by the tragedy of the first viewing. Also it should be kept in mind that this movie is based on two books. Books in general tend to have alot of emotion for the readers to react to, if you put two together you have a whole bunch of it. Trent Ford might have been able to be better, but I'm still giving this movie 5 stars, because it shows such a range to Mandy's acting. Also, Allison Janney is an incredible actress with so much range, and she is alot of the comedic relief in this movie. So if you've only seen it once, get back out there!

Summary: Somethings are just unexpected, you just learn "HOW TO DEAL"
Review: In this amazing,funny,and beautifully romantic movie young but not so young Hally Martin learns that you can't always expect things. When her parents go through a bitter divoce and her father gets remarried Hally swears never to fall in love, stating that people always end up hurt. She vows that her older is ruining her life by marring the wrong guy. Her best friend Scarrlet doesn't see a promblem and falls head over heels in love and starts to do things Hally can't understand. Until Hally meets a sweet bad boy named Macon she starts to save herself from falling, but can't fight the power of love. When unexpected things like when Macon's best friend and Scarlet's love of her life Michal dies or when Scarlet finds out she is going to be pregnant with Michal's baby Hally learn that love will be there for you and you can't plan everthing. Hally begins to fall in love and learns that it isn't the easiest thing to say no to it. When she really begins to "crash" into love a horrible car accident nearly takes her life and love isn't there to help her coup. She begins to dout love prescence in her life. This has Hally vowing never to fall in love again until Macon swears his love to her on national radio, Hally learns you don;t have a choice when things happen, when to talk, when walk, when to say something, when someone or something dies, when to have a baby, and when to fall in love. These our just things you have to deal with in this wonderful movie about "HOW TO DEAL" You can't choose life it chooses you. My favorite thing about this movie is where Hally and Macon kiss and he swings her around.

Review: I saw this movie!! I laughed,I cried ,etc.! It is such a great movie! I would recommand this movie for anyone! Mandy Moore is an awesome actress!! Yes, it is a chick flick , but it is the best chick flick I have ever scene!! I hope you consider buying or at least seeing this movie!!

Summary: great, original, touching, fun, amusing, honest movie
Review: This is so much more than your typical, cliche teen movie. I didn't know what to expect before seeing it, but I was very pleasantly surprised. What's ironic is that the thing that makes this movie so good is, at the same time, what holds it back from being a more realistic, believable and better movie that it could have been. What makes this intriguing and different is the issues that it encompasses. Realistic issues such as death, injury, pregnancy, etc. But there are a series of events (tragedies) that occur that would have been better left out, for instance, the death and car accident. It was just too much to cram into one movie to make it believable. Had the death occurred beforehand and was simply mentioned; that would have smoothed out the plot a lot. Now for what I liked about the movie. First, Mandy Moore does an excellent job portraying Halley. She has such an ease in front of the camera and is so easy to believe. The supporting cast (consisted of many prominant actors) does a great job creating the backbone of the story. The music was done almost perfectly to match the emotion of each scene. The 'small-town' feel adds a lot to the movie. It adds a warmth and character to the story. The plot of the movie is also very well written, although there were a few cheesey moments. There is a lot of depth to the story; it's very different from many teen movies in that it has many sad aspects and is quite complex. I think the thing that makes this movie is the characters. They are each intriguing, complex, and yet believable. You can relate to these characters and feel as if you know them, because you probably do. This is an honest movie about things you go through in life and have to deal with; it's reality. I'd highly recommend anyone to see it.

Review: how to deal is the best movie i have seen in my life!it had also changed how i think of love. i believe in it more and i hope that when i grow up that i will eventually fall in love sort of like Halley did. it is about a teenager named Halley(played by mandy moore) who is dealing with life.she has a lot on her going on in her life right now.her bestfriend scarlett's boyfriend died at a soccer match because of a heart defect and she found out that she was pregnant with his baby.her father is getting re-married her sister is getting married and even though she doesn't believe in love she ends up falling in love with macon,a boy who doesn't care about school but obviously cares about Halley.one of my favorite parts in this movie is when Halley's mother comes back from a date and finds her daughter making out with Macon on the couch! it was so funny to me because once they got caught Macon fell off the couch making a quick exit and Halley stormed up to her room trying to ignor what her mom found out. I liked this part because Macon and Halley risked getting caught and even though they did and Halley's mom refused to let her go out with Macon on New Years Eve Halley sneeked out anyways so she could go to a party with him. I think that anyone who wants to see what it takes to bee in love than this movie is for them and even if you don't want to see what it takes then you should still see this movie.I loved it.

Summary: Refreshing and realistic
Review: There are so many teen movies out there, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. But alot of the teen movies available today are well what Hollywood THINKS teen life is like. What's good here and new is that the plot of this story is very realistic to teen life in America. There's nothing wrong with a film teens can relate to, and I personally feel this is one of the best ever. From teen pregnancy to divorce to first love, this about sums it up. Halle is a teenage girl of course, and I felt like Mandy Moore played her brilliantly, probably because Mandy could relate to her character in alot of ways. Halle's parents are getting divorced, her dad just doesn't understand her, nobody thinks she's smart or trustworthy and she just doesn't believe in love. Her whole life she has witnessed people doing the exact thing: FALLING in love. And like she says in the film, why do they call it "falling" anyways? She's seen so many people get hurt because of love, therefore she wants to protect herself. When her bestfriend's boyfriend dies of a heart deffect, her friend comes to find out that she's pregnant. Not only is the father passed away, she has to raise this baby on her own. Halle has to deal with lots of trust issues in the film & whether or not to take a chance on the person she thinks she could possibly fall in love with...Meckin. A summary would make this movie sound cliche, but it's not. The cast is remarkable and the grandmother puts a nice light spin on the story..."Oh boy, do I have the munchies!" This movie will make you laugh, cry and smile...as well as relate. So if you want to see a film that's light-hearted and just about growing up & discovering what love REALLY is, then this is a film for you. It's not for a certain age or sex, anyone can relate, it's as simple as that. So make sure you go see this movie, because you will like it just as much as I did. Watching Halle learn How To Deal is everything that a good movie should be.
