Rating: Summary: Good thing-Bad thing Review: Good Thing: Jim Carrey's performance is the best yet, with an exception to "Doing Time on Maple Drive". A real breakthrough for him and he'll surely be recommended for practically any role in a movie.Bad Thing: Sadly, his performance doesn't seem enough for the Academy Awards. He's not in the Best Actor category, not even nominated. But It'll probably be made up if he wins other awards (i.e. Blockbuster Awards, MTV Movie Awards, Kids' Choice Awards) Then again, maybe not. =)
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT ON ANY LEVEL Review: Zowee!! This movie has loads of comedy, romance, suspense, and a societal message!!! And it's rated PG, so it's great for the whole family. I love this movie, and I'm very happy that Carrey won the Golden Globe.
Rating: Summary: the TRUMAN show a film to remember Review: Jim carrey is the main reason this movie works, Peter Weir took an original idea and screenplay with a versatile comedian who showed the world he can act. Many believe the truman show is just about a man trying to escape his life in a tv show but they are wrong. It is about Romance, the media and how it controls scoiety today and the human spirirt. Truman at times shows the kid inside of us. Jim Carrey puts on an ICONIC performance, his snub at the osars will be regreted one day, it is very sad that he was snubbed because of his comment at the golden globes when he won best actor. But something that I will always remember is the shot of truman sialing in his sailboat looking at the wide open sea and letting his face bask in its glory and when he pulls out the pastings of sylvia you just want to shot GO TRUMAN! a movie hard to forget.
Rating: Summary: Creative and very ingenious. Review: Andrew M. Niccol creates yet another unique movie (since Gattaca)that shows his immense talent in movie making. Jim Carey does an excellent job drawing us to Truman Burbank's world and forces you to imagine yourself in his situation.
Rating: Summary: The Truman Show is really about media anxiety. Review: The main character in The Truman Show is not Truman, the character played by Jim Carrey. The main character is really Christophe, played to ultra-pretentious perfection by Ed Harris. As I watched this movie, it slowly dawned on me that Truman represents the 'real people' that media types talk about (as if they are not real at all), and that Christophe represents the people who think they create the reality that regular people live in. I suspect there is a huge undertow of anxiety in the media elite as they become increasingly estranged from real reality while they create a marketable, pseudo-reality for us all. They know that they, like Christophe, are not God. Some of them, like Christophe, are terrified that we will find them out. And some of them, like Christophe's assistants, are terrified that we won't.
Rating: Summary: COULDN'T STOP TALKING ABOUT IT Review: Even if you can't stand Jim Carrey from his earlier flicks, you will love him in this one. It is a wonderful movie that made me feel a little creeped out. One of the reasons I loved it was because MY name is Meryl
Rating: Summary: This is originality at its best! Review: Director Peter Weir (Dead Poets Society) clearly displays his stunning imagination with The Truman Show. Jim Carrey's performance in this movie is worth an Oscar. I thought Ed Harris did a terrific job in this film. Funny, I never thought I'd see Jim Carrey and Ed Harris in the same movie. The originality and concept of this film is second-to-none. Also, Natacha McElhone is a hottie!
Rating: Summary: Good Family Film Review: I found the film to be thought provoking, yet in the same charming. It is a must see movie, for those that enjoy a clean fun movie. The move was funny & sad at the same time. Get ready for several twists and turns.
Rating: Summary: Makes You Think... Review: How many times do we feel like our privacy is being invaded when we become aware of hidden cameras, audio taping devices, etc. in our every day lives? Well Truman Burbank brings it all home for us, and it's an eerie picture that someday in the not too distant future, can easily become our reality. With the age of science and technology which we're living in, who's to say someone out there is not watching us as we eat our morning corn flakes or take our evening bath?! For all his goofy performances in the past, Jim Carey impresses us this time with true heart and feeling for the role of sweet, trusting Truman. See this film, if not for a message, than just for a look at "the possibilities."
Rating: Summary: Excellent and deep Review: A wonderful film about breaking the barriers society and other people have set for you. Excellent performances from the entire leading cast, especially Harris and Carey.
