Summary: A human comedy of mythic proportions.
Review: Truman's universe is anything but seamless. Odd things fall out of the sky. People behave in strange ways, and some of them even try to tell him Things Are Not What They Seem To Be. Yet he clings fiercely to that version of reality which has been presented to him. Eventually he begins to realize that things just are not adding up and he escapes, overcoming a fear instilled by his "creator" in the process.Having recently escaped from a religious cult, I was surprised by the intensity with which I identified with Truman. Near the end, when he shouts at the sky, hardly knowing who he is addressing, "Is that the best you can do? You're going to have to kill me!" I wept, for I know what it is to overcome such obstacles. The Truman Show reminded me of of James Burke's PBS series, The Day The Universe Changed. One of most heroic parts of our humanity is the ability to change the universe we live in. This movie put me in touch with that part of my humanity.

Review: This movie has it all. A great plot, interesting characters, and an overall great presentation of life. Anyone who gave this movie one star should really get a life and think about it again. They are the kind of people who went to the movie expecting a comedy. Sure, it has its funny moments, but the Truman Show is not a comedy. Still, I think Jim Carey did a terrific performance in this film, and should have been nomonated by the Academy for best actor. If you don't buy this movie, rent it. Just see it, and pay close attention, and you'll see why it is one of the year's best films.

Review: The Truman Show was an absolutely unoriginal, poorly presented product of Entertainment Tonight style all glitz no substance horse manure. I'm serious. I bet horse manure would make for better viewing. I'm going to go film a couple hours of it, and then see if I can get the Hollywood machine to hype it up as an "Oscar contender". The Story - Crap. Jim Carrey's Performance - Average.
