Review: I have never been more disappointed in a film. I was excited to watch it for i like Jim Carrey and the plot interested me. this movie was a joke. To believe that this guy lives for 30 years without a clue and then one day realizes what is going on insults my intelligence. And are we really supposed to believe a person can live to be that old and never once leave the town he was born in. How ridiculous. Jim Carrey gave a better performance in Liar Liar and those who think he should get an oscar are crazy. The creators of this movie spent no effort to give us a worthwhile movie and it is just another case of the media hyping up a movie just because certain people are involved in it. To say it is a good movie is absurd.

Summary: I CAN NOT BELIEVE PEOPLE LIKE THIS MOVIE
Review: This is the most self indulgent movie Hollywood has ever produced. What is so original about this concept? It strikes me as something that was done by Rod Serling over 30 years ago.I can't believe that people are so enthralled with a movie that is predictable, boring and not very well acted.

Summary: "The Truman Show" is one damn good movie.
Review: Jim Carrey is terrific in his starring role in this terrific film that is a combination of comedy, satire, and real human heart. Ed Harris gives one of the best performances of his career as Christof. This is Jim Carrey's best film, and sure enough, this is the one that people will remember him for.

Review: Wonderful! Just truly superb. jim Carrey really pulled off some talent here. All his other movies were just non-talented goofy characters. Unlike Truman.he steals the show. Winning the golden globe award for best actor, but pretty dissapointing that the academy awards didn't even nominate him. If you want a good movie with no profanity nor nudity. This one is your pick.

Summary: Full of potential, but just misses
Review: "The Truman Show" should have been the best film of the 1990's. This is a rare instance where added an hour to the film would have helped it out. Let's face it, Truman is just not that interesting. If we would have found out more about the other "actors" in Truman's world, and how they dealt with their fame, that might have added some tension to the story. Another sad fact, Jim Carrey's performance was nothing noteworthy. Anybody could have played Truman, while nobody but Carrey could have played Lloyd Christmas ("Dumb and Dumber"). But the positives of the film include the strange world presented here (particularly the homage to "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" near the end), and the high concept of the film. The ending is great! "The Truman Show," while a good film with an existentialist ending (where Truman is free to explore the world and become for himself what he now wants to become), ultimately comes up a little short.

Summary: Excellent, excellent, excellent.
Review: Wonderfully done movie. Jim Carrey has a natural acting ablility. I do not rate many movies with 5 Stars. I knew the plot before I watched the movie, which helped to make the first part more understandable. I tried to explain the concept to my Mother-in-law, but I don't think she ever got it. This was a unique concept, not your run-of-the-mill story. It does the job without bad language, which is almost unheard of today. That alone is quite refreshing.In many ways Carrey is beginning to remind me of Jerry Lewis, who could act both nutty and seriously. True acting artists. I truly think this is one of the best movies I have seen and due to become a classic. Buy it or rent it, but watch it.

Summary: Very ORIGINAL
Review: To me this was the most original and incredibly scripted movie I've ever seen. The use of a lot of camera angles was amazing. I wished more movies were like the Truman Show. It sure reminds me of "1984" and how we could possibly be monitored 24/7 (NSA's Echelon, hint hint). I don't know why it costs a hundred bucks for the video and why can can only rent it now?! I sure can't wait for the video release.

Summary: Brilliant!
Review: I'll make it a quick review since mine is proably just like the rest of the 200 other reviews. It's soooo captivating and amazing that I knew from the start[with the opening music and Jim Carrey talking into the mirror]that it would be a sansation! The music is one of the best parts...It's sooo great and beautiful that it brought tears almost to my eyes. Everyone should see this film...but don't just watch in once. I found that after I saw it twice i understood much, much more...It does get confussing at times...but that's what makes it special! Also, I think that Jim Carrey should act more in Drama films...his comedian act was getting VERY old. He's much more amazing when he does THESE kind of films...he really made the film GREAT!

Review: "The Truman Show" is an original movie with a concept that hasn't been done before (but will be in the future). It sort of plays out like a short storie, which works for me but not for Leonard Maltin. Thought provoking and great.

Review: I thought this show was a great movie. But my friends that I saw it with thought it was dumb. And they said most people thought it was dumb. Why? Carrey was great! I like the whole idea behind the movie. I wish they would really do something like that. A discussion came up in the movie if or if not puting Carrey on T.V. or not was the right thing to do. I think that if someone really did that in real life, I would think that it would be alright. Because the person that the movie is all about would be isolated from crime, drugs and all the other bad things. What a great life! But I admit, it would be weird. Still, the Truman Show was a good movie.
