Summary: Best life/love story in decades!
Review: Beautiful content and the majestic scenery is unbelieveable!
Louise Fletcher sings in this story, so be cautioned... but all the characters are totally true to life and you will feel like you are a part of this story, too.

Summary: don't let the stars get in your eyes...
Review: ...don't let the moon break your heart. Yes, this is a fantastic movie. Everyone should watch it. It's got gay characters but it isn't about sex, AIDS, clubs, dance music, etc...like so many are. It's beautiful. And he was never captain of the football team, watch the movie again.

Summary: Smalltown Wonderful
Review: This film goes straight to the heart and you melt. This movie has the potential to help break down phobia's. If we could all understand that what we are looking for is usually right in front of us. I loved the story line, the beauty of the area they choose for the filming and the characters. The performances were great and you felt like you were in Big Eden. Loved it one of the best in a long time. I can not wait for the director/writers future projects. Keep the love flowing.

Summary: Big Eden, Big Emotions
Review: Finally, a terrific and realistic movie about gay people in a straight society not in SF, NY or LA and not straight out of the gym! It deals very well with internalized homophopbia that many gays deal with. I am sure most gay and virtually all "stright" people would benefit from this flick. It is predictable, but well done all around. And Nurse Hachett in middle age is quite the revelation! The setting in and around Glacier National Park is nothing short of fabulous.

Summary: A tad slow, but worth the effort.
Review: Okay, so it was a bit slow, but we're not talking action heroes here. And, yeah, the town's complete acceptance of the main character's sexuality was kinda unrealistic. But the acting was first-rate and it was so good to see a gay-themed film that didn't deal solely with scoring, circuit parties, substance abuse, fashion-addicted queens or muscle worship. Not once was the word "fabulous" uttered. The 3 main characters and the issues and emotional turmoil they face are completely believable. I guess you could say this film is your basic gay-western-romance flick. I personally would welcome more of them.

Summary: BIG Disappointment
Review: I bought this movie based on the reviews here. What a disappointment. I thought I was watching a different movie than the one reviewed here. The premise of the movie was encouraging, but the execution and the acting was just not believable. In fact at times it was laughable (unintentionally). The lead was not believable - I couldn't get past the premise that he was being persued by TWO men, not just because he wasn't traditionally 'cute', but there was NOTHING in his personality that made him attractive or appealing. In fact, he seemed to be uncomfortable being gay. Another problem I had was that the movie was filled with all these 'wacky' but lovable and understanding characters who became annoying (to me) since they were a bit too cutesy. This movie tries to be a 'feel good' movie, but I couldn't get past the bad acting and unbelievable characters. The movie's soundtrack was the best thing (older Country).

Summary: It makes you believe everything is possible...
Review: Ok, let's stick to the facts ...this is a movie about an artist from NY who finds out his grampa just had a stroke on the day he is about to make a display on a gallery. That same day he goes back to his home-town Big Eden and reencounter with the ghosts from the past , a.k.a his best friend from highschool who he was in love with. Yep, this is a GAY MOVIE.

The movie has a slow rithm and it increases near the end. For a low-budget film, it has a great quality on performances, location, photography, etc.

Whether you are gay or straight, this movie is a must-seen. For one part, is about family, love and search for happiness and as much as idealist the movie is, it show us that is possible to be tolerant and accept the fact that there's gay people who look for happiness and a long term relationship. We will be aware that a lot of situations on this movie are ficticious and hard to believe, full of excesive-sweetness but who cares? It show us what a lot of people wants to see(including me) a place where you could be with the person you love without having to worry about what people say about sexual preferences, go where you want...in brief, a perfect place, like an Eden. That's the whole point.

By the end, you'll think that everything is possible...The DVD features two DVD's, the second one includes a lot of features like the challenge of filming a gay movie in a rural town. Excelent presentation, great features, interviews, a lot of trailers from wolfe movies, and even cooking recipes! What else can you ask for!?

Last but not least, i gave it 4 stars because the DVD didn't have any subtitles, not even CC. Being from a Country where the official language is spanish, i had a hard time understanding all the dialogs.

Summary: Was okay, but I thought fairly slow moving
Review: While a slow moving film, I was happy for once to see a gay flick that wasn't about penises, how to hook up or of a "sexual" nature other than running through some issues. I did think the actors in the movie were a bit stiff, and the story was a bit hard to believe.

Summary: BIG EDEN - BIG PLEASURES!
Review: In concept, acting and overall execution HONESTY is the byword for this very real story of a triangular relationship which plays out in the nexis of a loving -- and humorous -- mountain community. There is also a big-city/small community axis to grind the central character. Beautiful location shots on the edge of a mountainside lake, lovable and well-developed characters, sentiment, a fanciful concept, constant laughter and strong drama combine in this film -- the kind of DVD you want to show to friends and recommend to acquaintances. A cult following is inevitable for a movie so unique and insightful, which apparently had no widespread public screenings. When its over, you wish you could meet these people in person.... and maybe we do every day without knowing it.... Brava! Bravo!

Summary: A Warm Fuzzy Gay Film-- but is it a danger?
Review: As a 50+ year old gay man, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Don't we all wish that Big Eden, Montana was our hometown? A place where men can easily show affection to one another, without repercussion; a place where townspeople support same sex relationships; a place with just community-- not "gay community". I also recognize this film as a fantasy- albeit an appealing one.

Would a gay teenager make this same reocgnition? I'm not so sure.

Given the number of states that still have sodomy laws on the books that particularly target gay relationships and given the number of gay-bashings that occur in rural America each year, I wonder if this film poses a danger to a young man coming out.

What would happen to most gay men making a choice to dance the "Cotton Eyed Joe" with a man that turned them on at a local celebration? When a small town busybody discovers a gay man in the process of coming out, is the usual response to start hooking him up with other men.

If a viwer were as naieve as this filmmaker, they could easily find themselves seriously harmed. We live in a real world. Sorry to burst the bubble.
