Summary: Wonderful Film
Review: This visit to "Big Eden" is a two hour delight. The characters are friendly and supportive, the scenery is beautiful, and the emotions are rich with sincerity.Folks here allow others to act on their own inclinations, and refrain from being imposing. People respect one another here, as they enjoy life, and allow relationships to develop as they will, free and unobstructed. To me, this represents a model community, what all such groups should be about. It also presents a humanistic model and, as such, is a family film, entirely appropriate for all age groups, including children."Big Eden" is subtlely prophetic, for this is where humanity is heading: a fully free society, allowing consenusal adults to live and love the way nature intended them to. Bravo, "Big Eden."

Summary: one of the better romantic movies seen
Review: i LOVED it! one of the local theaters, a larger known theater, agreed to show "art films" as the number of art houses have decreased substantially in orlando.

this movie, from the plot line to the cinematography to the soundtrack were all incredible. (i found out later, they haven't published a soundtrack to it?!)

a romantic comedy that is just histerical. the actor (arye gross) plays henry hart, the heartthrob! he's so adorable. why can't i find a man so cute, romantic, sweet, sensative. (sigh) one of the funniest characters of the plot is the town.

a must see!! and, a buy-er when it comes to dvd!!

Summary: The Way Life Should Be
Review: What a lovely movie! Sure, it's not like life is, but it's like life should be and can be. Beautiful performances all around, lovely cinematography, a terrific screenplay--Big Eden is a big success. What a relief to see a movie where being gay doesn't cause angst. This is a movie every kid should see -- gay and straight. For gay kids, the affirming message of this movie could be a lifesaver. And how refreshing to see middle-aged men, including a Native American man, at the center of gay love.

Summary: Solid, Heartwarming, a Miracle
Review: This is a little miracle of a movie. It grew on me with each passing day since I first saw it, and I ended up seeing it two more times. I now consider it one of my all-time favorite films. I can't wait to own the DVD.

Summary: All-time Favorite Movie!
Review: BIG EDEN is superb - acting is absolutely tops, and the story although not exactly to be believed, is one I would hope could exist! That neighbors care for one another, and support each other through joy and troubled-times is a wonderful concept - I have found this to be reality in close, trusted friends and my own natal family - and it would be such tremendous help and freedom if we could begin to strive for this way of life.

Yes, I will see the movie again and again and suggest friends do the same.

Summary: A WOMAN DID NOT MAKE THIS!
Review: My title is an inside joke if you saw the movie.... I've seen it 3 times so far and it is still not enough. I will own a copy of this film. I also met the director at the SF G&L Film Fest in 2000. To hear how he made this film (a first effort by the way) was tremendously inspiring. I told him to prepare to win the Audience Award which of course he did. And I was there again to say I TOLD YOU SO. BIG EDEN is supposed to be a fantasy. Read Arye Gross' interview in the Advocate and you'll get it. The name of the town is the hint. But the relationships are genuine and they are what will make you laugh and break your heart. I can't say enough good things about how this movie made me feel. It deserves all the accolades it has received and MORE!

Summary: You'd better believe it's a nice dream!
Review: As hokey as it sounds, if you don't ever dream, if you don't ever try, you'll never know.

Even 1000 miles from nowhere.

See this film... Then, see it again and bring a friend... Then, ask them to do the same.

It's that good.

Every single person associated with this film - if you guys ever come onto Amazon and read stuff like this - thank you.

Best,

Summary: But It's a Nice Dream
Review: Big Eden has its heart in the right place, and writer/director Thomas Bezucha is a filmmaker to watch out for. As someone who has lived in the big city and the big nowhere, however, I gotta say this movie's depiction of middle America and human nature in general is a pure Pollyanna fantasy, which always keeps the movie's credibility somewhat questionable. Maybe they should haved called it Montana As Seen Through an Eddie Bauer Catalogue or An Upper West Side New York Worldview Goes on Vacation. Subtle character interaction from the uniformly excellent cast and a few scenes of honest emotional confrontation (especially between the hero and old high school flame) do make this worth a look. N.B.: that art would NEVER end up in the Whitney!

Summary: Not a Twenty-Something Love Triangle
Review: Henry's being the love object of two unlikely guys at the same time -- a straight father and a quiet Native American, in the most unlikely place one can imagine, a small town in Montana -- gives all of us older guys who didn't connect at 21 real hope that we can experience a love just as profound at 41 (and older). For a change, the stars of this triangle are not kids blossoming forth into homesexual life. The film is entirely believable and has some very funny moments, as well as realistically portraying the unrequited love aches we've probably all been through. The character roles are just as good as the leads, too, especially the Widow Thayer. What a feel good film this turned out to be! See it, by all means, even if you go alone.

Summary: If you have ever loved, you have to see this movie
Review: This has got to be THE movie dealing with typical man-to-man love relationships. The characters are played wonderfully and in-depth. You have a warm, good feeling when the movie is over, and most movie goers were clapping at the end in the theater where I saw the movie. Although the town of Big Eden (in Montana, no less) seems at bit too far-fetched, it leaves you hoping that somewhere a town of loving, connected, and caring people like the people of Big Eden exists. The scenery itself is simply stunning - as well as the actors and the acting!
