Summary: Nicholson confuses me
Review: Jack Nicholson continues to confound me: His Oscar-performance in "As Good As it Gets" is incredible. Yet when you listen to the director/cast commentary for two hours, Jack has absolutely nothing coherent to say. You'd think the guy was a moron. Still, the commentary is enjoyable, and this film is a real gem.

P.S. How can people say the romance between Nicholson and the younger Helen Hunt is not realistic, when in real life Jack is dating the nubile Lara Flynn Boyle?

Summary: Nicholson at his very best
Review: Nicholson starts out as such a miseable human being, along the way he learns tolerance, love and compassion. Helen Hunt and Greg Kinnear add to the magic with the touching scene at the motel when she takes a bath. Wonderful, a real treat for intelligent people.

Summary: A "Macho" Conservative Learns How to Love
Review: This movie is a very well told story in which a hateful, OCD, conservative-type guy learns how to treat people with compassion. He starts out hating, of course, gays, people of color, and women, but we see a tender transformation happen and it is remarkable. It struck me how that Melvin Udall (Nicholson) is an amalgam of the typical mean-spirited conservative who hates gays because they do something that just happens to be particularly repugnant to them. They hate blacks because their getting uppity. They hate women because they are a threat to the males' long-held dominant status. The story says a lot about loving people because of who they are instead of hating them because of what they do.

Summary: A boring and below standard Movie
Review: I don't know what is the criteria of hollywood to judge movies and actors, and so do of some "noble" critics, but I think this movie is a piece of junk. I think the hype of the movie came because of Jack Nicholson. And yes people who praise too much Jack Nicholson should know that a good actor should be verstile. Not like Mr. Jacky who even can not change his tone of delivering dialouges since last 25 yrs. Please be unbias about actors and judge the movies on the basis of theme and plot instead of big names without talent.

Summary: One of the worse films of the 90's!!
Review: I don't get what was so interesting of this film. I tried tounderstand, but the characters act so stupid and so senile. The filmtries to have the actors and actresses show comedy, but they fail miserably. Where was the comedy relief or the romance? This film is awfully disappointing.

Summary: Best Film of 1997
Review: This was a really great movie. the chemistry between Jack and Helen was very good and the story was written in such a brillent way that you come to care for these characters a lot by the end of the film. The film ends with the feeling that you spend a good time in the company of old friends. The oscars that went to Jack and Helen for their acting performances was well earned.

Summary: Truly, As Good as It Gets
Review: A film about coping with everyday life that is entertaining is a rare treat. This film succeeds in that manner and goes beyond. Helen Hunt gives her best performance and Jack Nicholson is terrific as usual. The biggest surprise is Greg Kinnear, who has proven himself as a great actor in this film.

The movie has you cheering for Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson to get together, even with Jack's phobia behavior. Also, the connection with Jack and the sweet adorable dog, that seems to help get Jack over his phobias, is a gem. The movie one minute is a tear jerker and the next it warms your heart, truly, as good as it gets. GRADE: A+

Summary: Titanic beat this out??? Crazy?!?!
Review: I am a teenage girl and I liked (okay was obsessed with) Titanic. But I saw As Good As it Gets before I saw Titanic and I never thought that Titanic should beat it out for the Oscar. Titanic was a total teeny-bopper movie. Very little plot and big suprise....everyone dies. In AGAIG, there were these crazy people who were brought together in the midst of New York and are all so very different and very funny that it takes you on this crazy 2 hour trip. And I just remember sitting there and watching wondering what was gonna happen. With Titanic, it wasn't very hard to guess. It was a totally awesome movie and I loved watching every minute of it, not to mention my role model and favorite actress Helen Hunt, did one of the best acting jobs in it I've ever seen in my life. It was amazingly funny, creative, and downright groovy.

Review: This is by far my favorite move of all time. I discovered it at a very somber time in my life; i was just released from the hospital, following a traumatic brain injury resulting from a trajic autimobile accident. It remains my favorite in this time between high school and college.
