Summary: Forget Titanic!
Review: This really must be the best movie of all time. I love it so much. Johnny Depp and Leo DiCaprio are the best actors. I've seen a lot of Leo's other films, but in those, he's good, he's even great, but he is just completely astounding in this movie. I think he's cute, but I 've read some reviews here written by people who are obviously like...totally obsessed with him. I'm not like that. I think that the best part of this movie is that it's about life, even a troubled life, and it's in a place that isn't totally Hollywood glamour, and it's like....real. Not like some other movies, in which everyone has weird problems, and then they have weird solutions to the problems, and then they live happily ever after. Arnie doesn't stop being mentally retarded, and Gilbert's problems don't disappear, but it ends on a happy note. I still don't quite get why he burned the house down, though. It ranks right up there with the all together best movies I've ever seen, and I'd like to thank everyone who helped with this movie.

Summary: Gilbert Grape is a wakening of our perilous souls
Review: I think that after repeatedly viewing this film, What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a work of sheer genius. Not only does it show the compassionate side to the perils of obesity, but at times a happy and remarkable comfort and joy to mental dissabilities. I thought that the film was powerfully acted with immense talent. Leonardo DiCaprio (Arnie) shows a new side to his ever-so-quickly growing ability as a striving actor. Johnny Depp (Gilbert) also had a great grasp on his complicated-in-disguise role. Juliette Lewis (Becky) was no less then the wonderful talent we all expected her to be. As for Darlene Cates (Momma), that was an exceptional role she took on. I applaud her strength to have done the the courageous exploitation of her own self. If I were a true critic I would I would have given this subdued yet riveting film two thumbs up for promiceing talent and intriguing newcomers. Review: Not to disparage all the fine comments about Leo's fine acting, but this is a Johnny Depp film, and he is brilliant in it, as he is in every movie he's ever done. If you've tried this out due to being a Leo fan, I heartily encourage you to try other Johnny Depp films.

Review: I'm in 11th grade english and I never would have seen it if not for an assignment but I am so glad I did. I'm not a big Leo fan but when I saw this it melted my heart. It was surprising how well he played his role. Jonny Depp also did his part extremely well. This movie made me laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time. If you're ever in the mood for a good movie, get this one!!! You'll love it even if you don't like Leo, believe me.
