Summary: Well done update of Doris Day-Rock Hudson comedies
Review: Critics who were lukewarm about French Kiss failed to place it as a Doris Day/Rock Hudson update. Kevin Kline's combination of wit and vulgar good humor contrasts with the Rock Hudson emotional monotone. Meg Ryan is overtly sexy, compared with Doris Day's closet sex appeal, but both are the nice-girl-nextdoor-you'd like to go out with. It's the perfect straight up Doris Day/Rock Hudson revision for the '90's. (If you want an update with Doris Day and Rock Hudson laughing at themselves and each other, then you need John Cleese and Jamie Lee Curtis.)

Summary: Watched it a dozen times!
Review: I've seen this movie so many times I had to go to Paris to see the sites for myself! Meg plays a woman "going through a tansition" after her fiance leaves her. Of course it takes place in Paris. And Kevin Klein gives an excellent performance. Buy the tape just to see the dialouge between Ryan and Klein on the plane. It is hillarious!

Summary: Meg Ryan is the best!
Review: This is one of Meg Ryan's funnier films. She is delightful in everything she does, but she was just too cute in this movie!

Summary: Loved it, loved it, loved it!
Review: Kevin Kline and Meg Rayan played their parts so well with all of the subtle cultural differences in tact for us to appreciate without tripping over. Speaking as an American woman married to a Frenchman, I can say from experience that the humor in this film definitely stems from true life! If you are in a Franco-American relationship of your own, you must see this film. We've been laughing over it for years!

Summary: Terrific romantic comedy.
Review: Charming characters caught up in an unexpected set of circumstances -- loved Kevin Kline as the unromantic Frenchman who keeps stealing soft looks at Meg Ryan -- a woman who will do anything for love. Like the best of all romantic comedys, this one places an unlikely couple in close contact over a period of days and love blooms. They meet on an airplane as she is chasing down an errant boy friend with his eye on a drop dead gorgeous French woman. They continue because the Kline character, Luc, has stashed something valuable in her bag to get through customs and he doesn't want to let her out of sight. Go along for the ride -- its great. And, its technically good film making too.

Summary: Almost Five Stars
Review: I have loved this movie for some time, and just saw it again. It's entertaining, sweet, and plain old fun.

It maybe isn't the most realistic, but for romantic escapism, it's tops. Kevin Klein is great here, as usual, and believable as a Frenchman thief who finds his heart stolen by a whimsical, befuddled woman (Meg Ryan) who, coincidentally, finds attraction and love in an entirely unexpected place.

I'm not a big Meg Ryan fan, but she's wonderful in this piece, and makes a remarkable transformation on screen from horrified, squeaky girl to remarkable and capable woman. It's something to experience. Klein transforms too. Truly, these two work together well.

The pacing is great and the supporting characters (particularly the concierge at the hotel) are wonderful and help contribute to a great product, overall.

I had a copy, but a friend of mind "borrowed" it indefinitely. I guess she liked it too. Recommended.

Summary: WONDERFUL!
Review: An outstanding romantic comedy, French Kiss, brings to the screen the love story between an American, whose Canadian fiancé leaves her for a dashing European woman, and a French con artist trying to smuggle a stolen diamond necklace out of the country.
It is a film about human relations, hope and second chances, but most importantly about trust, love, and inner strength.
Meg Ryan, Kevin Kline, Jean Reno and the rest of the cast, have truly outdone themselves with their performances, which are exceptional to say the least! All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows (the chemistry is AMAZING)! Very well written and very well presented, the movie is without a doubt guaranteed to provide more than just a few laughs, not to mention a few tears. The film is simple enough, but does a great job of describing people's every day lives and the problems they face. It just goes to show that simplicity is often far better than complexity, when trying to present issues of a human nature.
The setting, the plot, the dialogues, the humor (!!!), and the music are all wonderful!
In short, French Kiss is a movie definitely worth watching and one to seriously consider adding to your movie collection!

Summary: "La Vie En Meg Ryan"
Review: This movie is, I believe to be, Meg Ryan's best movie to date. She and Kevin Kline have such amazing chemistry in this film that it makes other similar movies like "You got Mail" and "When Harry Met Sally" pale in comparisson. Bold statment, eh? I mean every word of it too.
Meg Ryan once again plays the quirky control freak aside a flighty frenchman (Kline) with alterior motives. This movie truely taps into certain stereotypes but also reveals some sincere attributes that both American and French cultures don't make apparent. It does have the typical "opposites attract" theme that is ever so popular with comedic romance films, but it works in this case. French Kiss has been categorized as a "chick flick" but take it from me guys... it's a pretty nice movie. Don't be affraid to check this movie out.
