Summary: Sensuous, tender, and true to life in the 50s
Review: I saw Picnic some time after it was first released in 1957. It simply stirred my soul. I was recently able to see the wide screen version on a movie channel. Guess what? It still stirs my soul. Without nudity and vulgarity, it is simply one of the most sensuous love stories of all times. How do we convince the studio to release this to video???

Summary: Can't get the dance scene out of my mind!
Review: William Holden is one of my favorite actors and he was incredible in this movie. I can't get the dance scene out of my mind. The steps and the music come to mind first when I think about the movie. Please pressure the studio into releasing a video. They would make millions.

Summary: One of the all-time classic romance stories!
Review: I picked up my love of old movies from my father, and now I have passed that on to my children. My son likes many of the same old ones I like, and this one is no exception. William Holden and Kim Novak sizzle together! If you can ever find this one on video, it's definitely worth it.

Summary: A movie to be remembered from these 100 years almost past!
Review: I saw this movie when I was in high school and will never forget the chemistry between Holden & Novak. It's a shame the studio isn't releasing it. Maybe if they see enough of us want it they will.

Summary: Above and Beyond Excellent!
Review: The tension created is tremendous, the settings picturesque, the chemistry excellent, and the music magnificent. The dance sequence is so sensuous and unforgettable! One of my all-time favorite movies....a joy to experience. Every man or woman dreams of having a "Picnic" in their life, a love so deep and desperate and delightful that they allow themselves to be swept away on a tide of emotions, leaving the world behind!

Summary: Most every performance was worthy of oscar consideration.
Review: How many movies can boast flawless performances from every major character and the supporting cast ? A recent Biography (A & E) stated that William Holden didn't want to do the dance scene because he said he was no dancer. He then asked for several thousand dollars extra, hoping to discourage the dance scene, but the studio paid it. The rest is history--in my opinion, there will never be anything more sexy and sensual on the silver screen. I first saw this movie when I was in my 20's, and William Holden has been my favorite every since. There has never been a time when I haven't had "chills" when I view the dance scene. What a shame that he never felt he was worthy of all the acclaim. The movie touched me--the music, the photography, the storyline, and most of all, the actors who were perfectly cast for their roles. "Picnic" is a genuine classic. It is one of the few movies I never tire of viewing. There aren't many movies to which that last sentence can be applied.

Summary: I saw Picnic in 1956 and I have Never Fogotten it.
Review: Picnic is really the only Movie Video that I want to own, I don't own any others. I have never fogotten the dance scene. I was nineteen years old when I saw it and I've wanted a man to dance that way with me my entire life, oh well, there was only one William Holden.

Summary: One of the best and most haunting movies ever made!
Review: I have tried to find this movie on TV or tape and no one has it. PLEASE make a video of it. The dance scene with William Holden and Kim Novak is still by far the most sensual I have ever seen, without groaning or sweating and fully clothed.

Summary: Americana
Review: Having been raised in the area in Kansas where Picnic was shot (I remember seeing the lights and stuff when I was about 5 years old), I consider the movie to be a brilliant piece of historical Americana. The "old-fashioned" kitchen was actually from the house next door (since the corner house had a "modern" kitchen). And the school across the street burned down soon after the film was made. PLEASE -- what does it take to make a video!!??

Summary: One of the best movies ever!
Review: The characters took on every way of life in that era of time. It was a passionate, romantic and wonderful storyline. With Holden, Novack and Strasberg, how could it miss. Please bring it back on VHS for people to enjoy once again.
