Summary: Great cast, great director, unbearable tension!
Review: I am a huge fan of suspense films, anything from low-budget indie efforts to big-budget hollywood thrillers, but 1991's "Cape Fear" is definitely in my top 5! Nick Nolte is superb and believably human as the strained and stressed southern lawyer whose family life and professional life is falling apart. But the real show stopper is Robert DeNiro as the menacing psycho, Max Cady. From the moment you meet him in his 8x9 cell in prison you know he is insane. And in the bravura finale on Cape Fear he goes gleefully over-the-top and lets all hell break loose. If you are squeamish or easily disturbed, this film is not for you. There is extreme violence in a few portions of the film and a hard-to-take scene where Cady mutilates a woman in her apartment. But if you are a suspense fan and are in the mood for an emotional and tense film, "Cape Fear" is for you!

Summary: Very scary & an excellent movie
Review: This is one movie that really scared me, it is Robert De Niro at his best, he is such a fine actor & very versatle. I own this one & have seen the original, this is by far the best, even though the other actors were very good. Robert De Niro is my favorite here.

Summary: Cape Fear is great!
Review: Cape Fear is a wonderful murder flick! Nick Nolte plays a North Carolina lawyer who defended a convicted felon. He lost the case and Nolte's client Max Cady(De Niro)goes to jail. When he is released Cady terorizes Nolte and his family, Jessica Lange his wife and Julitte Lewis daughter. After being harrased and pursued by Cady enough the family escapes to North Carolina's real life location Cape Fear for and exciting climax. The film goes off course some and does kind of get boring but it really is worth it! I've liked this since I saw it for the first time when I was much youger. The theme is amazing! And De Niro's performance is not to be missed.

Summary: I don't see what's so bad about this movie.
Review: no one seemes to like this movie. I personally found it very exciting. I think, actually, it was the most exciting movie I've ever seen. I'm 13 and I enjoyed this movie. In fact, ever since it first came out, and I was just 5 or so, I thought the premise of the story sounded interesting, although I don't think I would've even wanted to see it back then. I know my parents wouldn't have let me anyway, but it seemed too scary. Ever since then I've always remembered it, and just a few weeks ago I saw it. I just decided to look at the reviews, and they upset me very much. I think people who saw the old one just didn't like the remake and wanted to post up their opinion. It's really very good. MUCH better than they make it seem. You'll love it.

Summary: NOT THE BEST OF SCORSESE & DE NIRO
Review: WE HAVE TO ADMIT IT BOTH DID MUCH BETTER THAN THIS ; HOWEVER IT MAKES YOU THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING ON A BOAT AGAIN ; JESSICA LANGE IS PERFECT ; & IT WAS A GOOD BEGINNING FOR JULIETTE LEWIS ; OK BUT NOT GREAT...

Summary: Cover of a beatles song
Review: The original Cape Fear was old fashioned looking compared to this modern remake. But the golden oldie standed strong with Peck an Mitchum. Scorsese changed the Bowden family into 'less' perfect and made Cady more psychotic. It didnt helped.
I believe remakes are destined to end up as less good then the original. It feels the same as a cover of a beatles song.

Summary: EXCELLENT REMAKE OF A TERRIBLE OLD FILM!
Review: The only reason you do not like this film is because it is a remake. ADMIT IT YOU MORONS!

Summary: I can't believe this is a Martin Scorsese film.
Review: I don't have a clue what they were thinking when they made this, but I have never been more disappointed in a film made by such a talented director. Robert De Niro is usually very engaging in his roles, but he was an utter washout in this. It is too bad about Jessica Lange and Nick Nolte because I can tell that they worked hard, but this one just didn't click. Avoid this movie.

Summary: Excellent movie
Review: This is one of my favorite movies ever made. Juliette Lewis is one of the most talented actors alive and this is her best role.
