Rating: Summary: A must see Classic. Timeless Movie, Transcending Generations Review: A must see DVD for the whole family
Rating: Summary: What DVDs were made for! Review: Casablanca digitally remastered with sharp blacks and whites contrasting in the shadowy world of Rick's Cafe. This funny and heart-wrenching movie is finally done justice...and probably in the best condition since our parents saw it on the big screen. Who can out-sauve Humphrey Bogart, or fill a screen with more beauty than Ingrid Bergman? The short retrospective is fair, and the 12 odd previews are not in the best shape but hopefully a bone thrown to us as to what classic Bogie films are yet to come to DVD (or at least we can hope). This is a MUST buy for classic movie and DVD enthusiasts alike!
Rating: Summary: One of the best Review: A great romance, wonderful drama, enchanting characters, a trully beatiful history, really fine performances. So I don't need to say that it's one of the best movies ever made, and who doesn't agree with me must surely be crazy.
Rating: Summary: The most noble movie ever made.... Review: "Casablanca" is still being viewed and loved a half century after it's release because in addition to being a wonderful love story, it is an example of a real man doing the right thing. Bogart's code of conduct sends Ilsa away with her husband and though his heart is broken, he walks off into the fog, wisecracking all the way. If you love this film, try Robert Reford's "Havana" also. Alas, another star crossed love triangle, where you just know someone is going to get hurt in a very big way. The question is: will it be Redford?
Rating: Summary: Ahem!!! Please stand up for one of the best films ever!!! Review: Most of my friends at high school think that because this movie doesn't have explosions, or a sinking ship, it's not worth their time. I must say that this is a shame. Casablanca is a love story for the ages. And quotable, too!!! Name me one movie with more quotable lines (and "Jack, I'm flying" doesn't count). Humphrey Bogart dominates the film as Rick, but you can't forget Ingrid Bergman's fantastic performance as Ilsa, the girl Rick never truly gave up. An underrated job is given by Paul Henreid, the essential third corner to the love triangle. So, despite the lack of explosions and Leonardo DiCaprio, you must see the true gem that is 'Casablanca'!
Rating: Summary: One of the all-time greatest films!!! Review: Casablanca is a classic in so many ways! It's an eye-opening historical movie illustrating the plight of those refugees trying to escape the war and the Nazis, what was going on in those backwater nations unaffected directly by war, also an exciting adventure at times of those attempting to resist, as well as a moving love story, beautifully acted by an incredible cast! My own favorite scene, when Victor Lazlo leads the nightclub patrons in a rousing singing of the French national anthem to drown out the Germans! One of the great moments in the history of cinema!
Rating: Summary: Here's sleeping to you kid Review: A melodrama that is good, but most assuredly not great
Rating: Summary: Here's Looking At This DVD! Review: There are other movies that are my favorite movies because they are more personal to me but this is undeniably the best movie every made. It has romance, action, comedy, intrigue, exotic locations, great stars, wonderful music, and this amazing Hollywood-movie feel that is only "Casablanca". The extra stuff on the DVD is very interesting as well.
Rating: Summary: Romance at its peak Review: One of the most romantic and touching stories of our time. I have yet to meet a person who did not like this movie. Great ensemble cast.
Rating: Summary: almost perfect entertainment Review: Somehow this movie manages to mix romance, suspense, (hilarious)humor, and Ingrid Bergman looks very good. And I wish I could be like Humphrey Bogart.
