Review: I have been waiting for Glengarry Glen Ross since I first purchased my DVD player several years ago. This film is easily in my all time top 10. When I heard it was going to be a 2 disc special edition, I figured it would be worth the wait. I managed to get my hands on a copy early and to be honest it is a let down. The widescreen transfer is beautiful but this has to be one of the most empty 2-disc SE's around. The most disappointing missing feature is the commentary that Jack Lemmon did for the SE laserdisc. What better way to preserve his legacy than to include his comments about arguably his finest film performance? Instead, you get a Jack Lemmon "tribute" feature with interviews from his son, Peter Gallagher, and other folks who are mildly ammusing. Another feature is "New Cast Interviews" which is simply Alan Arkin and Alec Baldwin (separately) doing commentary over scenes from the movie. No Pacino, no Ed Harris, no Spacey. They have included a nice Charlie Rose show clip with Lemmon and a very short Spacey clip from "Inside the Actor's Studio". Then you get a non-Glengarry related feature on salesman. Why? You do get a new commentary from the director which is nice, but this was an actor's movie first and foremost. Why Artisan took several years to finally release this on DVD is quite frankly hard to understand with what has been delivered. Mitch and Murray would be very upset with Aristan's effort here. Long live the Machine!

Summary: sales 101 or almost as real as life
Review: this movie is the equivalent of a strong pill for experiencing condensed life--ever changing asymmetry of the relationships and players' power therein, strong and realistic dialogue, situations and characters on the edge. great casting (some reservations for baldwin) with pacino and lemmon (in whatever order) at their best. pacino delivers a role that's already become typical of his--nonetheless fits the character very well. by this point in lemmon's career we see him developing in an extremely fine and nuanced character. the rest of the cast complements smoothly the roles of the first two. the only exception one may take with this movie realism is around the thickly liberal approach to business (in recession anyway.) otherwise, as an unintended consequence, this movie is so well done that one may substitute it for what sales is (not.)

Summary: Never Taken One That Made Me Feel Like I'd Slept 12 Hrs
Review: This is one of the best movies of the past 50 years -- stunning, dramatic, captivating, shocking, saddening, brutal and wonderful. Never has a better cast been assembled, and never has a cast performed better. Never has dialogue been so riveting. The performances are like music, like songs you relish hearing again and again. The realism is obvious to anyone who has ever worked in an office where profits are all that matter. Watch this movie today, and again from time to time. It is magnificent. "How can you present investment opportunities without television, without magazine ads? I say, you take something this good, you go to a man has invested in the past, you go to him direct and offer the money to him: REBATE!" The spiels just don't come much slicker than this, at the hands of the immortal Jack Lemmon. P.S. Put that coffee down.

Review: What can I write other than superb. With an outstanding cast and brilliant storyline, It would've been a failure had it been average.With great writing and explosive acting, it has been one of my favorite films ever. Jack Lemmon's performance will go down as one of the best ever, he absolutely nails it! Lemmon has many accolades in his vast wealth of screen work, but It is nothing short of ridiculous that he did not win an oscar for this role (Hollywood elected a trendier actor).Watch the film and enjoy the emotional roller coaster that all of these accomplished actors take you on.

Summary: Finally!
Review: I'm sure there are many out there who have been counting the days till the powers that be put this out on DVD with the extras. GGGR needs no more accolades from me or anyone else. It has by far the best dialogue of any movie in the last 30 years. The all star cast was asked to stretch themselves to deliver performances of a lifetime. I could ramble on here forever, filling up pages about how I feel about this movie. So go buy the DVD before they change their minds! :)

Summary: Second prize- Steak Knives!
Review: This is a great film. Unfortunately the DVD version is not the great set it could be. It is a two disc set but the extras are weak. The good news is though that the movie is terrific. Everything about this movie from the writing to the cast works, and works perfectly. This has not just one Willy Loman, but a bunch. The trials of four sad salesmen of dubious real estate and their manager (brilliantly played by Kevin Spacey) are detailed in this wonderful film. Based on David Mamet's own Broadway play, it feels like a play with its simple sets and its intense screenplay. Ed Harris, Jack Lemmon, and Al Pacino are all great in this film, along with a powerful appearance by Alec Baldwin. This is America, the great hustle for a buck story. What will men be driven to do when their backs are against the wall. Thee are no heroes in this movie, but anyone who sees this film becomes a winner. This is a movie worth owning and belongs on any list of essential movies. With better extras I would have given the disc set five stars. The movie, however, is still worth owning.

Review: No doubt the best sales movie, the typical sales environment, themes, what goes on behind the scene of and etc... Anyone who ever wroked in sales would really appreciate the film. Al Pacino, a great actor in a great movie, Alec Baldwin, typically successful A-hole. Anyone who works in a sales carrer CAN'T AFFORD NOT TO WATCH IT!

description. It's all-star cast is in top form, including Kevin Spacey as the office manager, long before he became famous in
'American Beauty.' What's really remarkable about 'Glengarry
Glen Ross,' is the fact that it takes place in so few locations.
The entire film is purely dialogue-based. It's perfectly cast,
from Jack Lemmon, as the pathetic has-been salesman to Al Pacino
as the office's top-notch, hot shot salesperson. Although, he's
only in the film for around five minutes, Alec Baldwin absolutely
steals the film with his 'motivating the troops' speech. He's the
absolute personification of a complete self-centered elitist. This is not a film you'll just want to rent, it's a must-own film, which, believe me, you'll memorize line for line.

Summary: Finally on DVD!
Review: Quite possibly the most powerful and entertaining film of the 90's is finally coming to DVD. If you are one of the unlucky people to have never seen this film you are a lesser person for it. Get it NOW! No special effects or computer enhancements here just plain talent from top to bottom. The finest writing, casting and acting in any film I have ever seen along with a unique visual style to boot. Unless you liked the Rambo series in which case do not buy this film. Are you convinced yet? Go get it.
