Summary: A fine memorial to the greatest generation
Review: I haven't seen the DVD yet as it is not available. I imagine the DVD package will include some nice goodies like most DVD packages do.

Even if it doesn't, I cannot recommend this series any more fervently! If you do not have HBO then you missed it last year. Aired as a 12 part series, Band of Brothers documents the journey of a company of paratroopers in the days and months following the Allied beach-head at Normandy.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, and with an excellent cast of mostly unknowns (the occasional recognizable actor notwithstanding), Band of Brothers captures for 12 episodes what Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List did for a few hours each.

If you love WWII history, buy this DVD. If you love good acting and writing, buy this DVD. Heck just buy it! You will not be disappointed and I think more than one person will sit through all 12 episodes in a weekend, pining for more at the end.

Summary: Amazing reinactment of 101st airborne, best World War 2 film
Review: With stunning acting and excellent storytelling, Band of Brothers is spectacular, if not the best World War II film of all time. Band of Brothers excells in many ways but its greatest characteristic is the way it attatches you to its characters. From the first sargeants to the privates, the viewers get a sense that they have known the depicted soldiers for years and have a different opinion of each. Spanning ten episodes and over seven hours of high-quality video. The special effects are simply spectacular and a sense of fear and adrenaline is felt by all who experience it from their couches. Overall greatness. And if all else fails, it is worth atching simply because of the cameo by SNL's Jimmy Fallon.

Summary: As good as "TV" gets!!!
Review: Every Sunday you could find me on the couch waiting for a new episode of B.O.B. on HBO. It's one of those rare TV/Film events where everything comes together naturally...it felt like a documentary most of the time. You won't find any hollywood "stars" or big time "special effects", just an amazing true story of what men can do in a time of war, told like no other "war" story I have ever seen. History teaches us about the sacrifices of those made before us, let us never forget them. Five stars all the way!

Summary: Great Mini-Series
Review: In my opinion, Band Of Brothers is one of the greatest mini-series that I've ever seen on television. It's got an amazing feel of battle, you get to know the characters over time, and the concentration camp episode is amazingly sad.

I haven't seen every single episode, but I have seen most. If you liked Saving Private Ryan, you'll love Band of Brothers.

Summary: Absolutely Awesome
Review: Every Sunday night my firends and I would take much needed time away from studying to watch this series. The story is gripping and the scenes are just awesome. One of the best series ever made about World War II. The characters interplay with each other brilliantly. Definately a 'Must See."

Summary: coming soon
Review: The description at the top of the page for Band of Brothers on DVD is wrong. The description says that the company is not currently producing the DVD boxed-set. However, the DVD is going to be released in early November of this year.

Summary: Outstanding - Keep your fingers crossed for an HDTV release!
Review: I won't repeat what everybody else here has already written so aptly. This is a beautifully-produced, well-acted and very moving series indeed.

I also had the GREAT pleasure of watching parts of it on HBO-HD on a 10-foot screen. I will buy the DVD set when it comes out, but it will pale in comparison to the HD presentation, which was absolutely glorious in its engrossing realism. I sincerely hope that this is one of the first titles to be released as pre-recorded content finally begins to come out for HDTV.

Summary: Awesome
Review: Clearly the best war depiction ever placed on cable television or in movies period. Far better than SPR, and any other war film to date. What makes this war film better than others is the 8+ hours of footage, giving viewers a real indept look at developing characters and tragedies of war, nearly impossible to be captured in a 2hour film.

Summary: Band of Brothers = Excellent...Now when will it be on DVD?
Review: I subscribed to HBO specifically to watch Band of Brothers last Fall, and when it was over I unsubscribed. If I had not been impressed by it, I would cancelled after a couple of shows. This has the production values of a theater-released movie, and a group of actors portraying real men that performed some amazing acts and lived and died for our freedom. I highly recommend this one!

Summary: Realiy as Seldom Seen
Review: Band of Brothers is a milestone in cinematography. Ambrose's novel that tells us the story of a group of citizen soldiers during WW2, shows that real life has more drama than what any writer can imagine. The series start with their training and how the unit bonds into a cohesive group. You care for each one and suffer as many get injured and some die. The Episode "The breaking point", bring the reality of combat as close as you and I will get unless we have experienced war. As the series winds down you get to see hope, that the men are going to survive. At the end when you get to see who those men are, them the greatness of their sacrifice is seen and what we owe to them.
A Must to be seen and a Must to be shown to all Americans in these trying times.
