Summary: NUMBER 38 OF 100 WORST MOVIES
Review: This movie is also known as Vercingetorix (re: Internet Movie Database). IMDB has it listed as #38 in the bottom 100 movies, between Captain American & Kangaroo Jack. This movie follows - sort of - the book titled Druids by Morgan Llywelyn, who is otherwise a very accomplished and respected writer (check her out here at Amazon). IMDB.com does not give her a writing credit so I can't tie the two projects together, but they come suspiciously close - the main difference being that the book focuses on the Druid influence more than Vercingetorix. However, they both largely deal with Caesar's Gaulish campaigns against the Celts and "Rix's" attempt to organize the fractured Celtic tribes. But more importantly, they both are absolutely miserable in their mangling of history.

Summary: Incredibly amateurish and embarrasingly awful.
Review: With the exception of a few scenes of very strong imagery and brief battle sequences with interesting music it was really, really bad. I should have known when I saw guys wearing horned helments on the back of the video box that something was up...
I can't express how horrible the majority of this movie is, the acting and the silly camera angles is just incredibly bad. Plus the dialogue is so out of step with what you would expect and most of the actors DO NOT look the part in any way. I feel sorry for Mr Lambert. If they didn't have the partial nudity scenes it could have been rated PG. There is no foul language in the film at all which was refreshing. I would say if you are about 12 you would find this to be an epic, but for the rest of us Braveheart is the de facto midevil epic.

Summary: Really Boring and just not what I expected.
Review: .... But this movie was honestly a great disappointment. The acting was awful, the plot had little to do at all with Druids. One good thing that came from me getting this awful "b" movie, was that I was forced to get two really good books on Druids. Skip this movie, they compare it o Braveheart on the slipcase, but do not fall for that.

Summary: YAWN!
Review: Once agian Chris Lambert proves his acting is less then spectacular! The acting and dialog were so woooden and dry, that it makes Plan 9 From outer Space look like hamlet! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!

Summary: A good historical movie
Review: I am not an Historian , so don't expect me to tell you if all the tiny details are like the French history (even though I have a French passport, I was not there at that time, or if I was, I do not remember). However, I have been at French school since my youngest agre, and , all in all, this movie is Correct (historically). It also explains why Vercingetorix lost (all Frenchmen who have been at school should know why anyway). That being said, I appreciated the movie itself a lot - good cast , good scénario , nice shots (although I would have preferred if it cold have been filmed on the actual battle field in France ). Altogether, it is just a good entertaining movie relating historical facts. To be honest I do not intend to buy it, but it is really worth watching it...

Summary: HORRIBLE!
Review: I wish that I could have given this movie no stars. I have always watched an entire movie because I feel that there is always a chance the movie could get better before it ends. Well, the movie never got better. Horrible acting, horrible war scenes, did I mention horrible acting. Basically this movie was HORRIBLE!!!

Do not waste your time on this movie. I recommend catching up on your sleep, doing some math problems or staring at a wall. All these activities would be more exciting than watching this film.

Summary: What happens when Potential Meets Reality
Review: Its one of those movies that you dont enjoy watching but you have to, because at one point it had potential.
The storyline is good, but the combination of bad acting on some parts and bad editting by whoever they found to do it, really makes this one of those movies I hate to love, and love to hate.
First, I have heard some folks had trouble with the Tuetons(Germans) and their red hair. They thought it was cheesy and rightly so to some respect. But don't forget, the Suevi tribe in Germania dyed their hair red! They did so to appear more intimidating in battle, and to cut down on individuality. It seems cheesy to some, but if there is anything accurate about this move, this is it.
Second, I have to trash the editting here, because, lets face it, it is terrible. Even the enlgish actors were not in sync with their voices and I suddenly realized why this film was never in the theaters.
Third, Some of the characters were useless, and a lot of the music was terrible. I can't stand the music they were constantly playing during the battle scenes and just when I thought the annoying music would stop, it started right back up again.
All in all, rent it first!

Summary: I enjoyed the movie...
Review: Unlike most reviewers I reviewed before I started writing my review, I did enjoy the movie.

I think that the key reason for general disappointment is the fact that this film is not the classic Hollywood epic-entertainment product. It's not the story of a super-hero fighting for freedom or any other general accepted cause; it doesn't have scenes full of patriotism and big emotions. Instead, it presents a plain historical context with actors illustrating historical events.

I am fortunate enough to like that kind of honesty in historical films, because it gives me the opportunity to concentrate in history rather than distract my attention in chilly emotions.

Summary: That almost beats U-571
Review: This film almost beats the worst war/history movie I have ever come across: U-571.

Druids looks to me like a bad soap opera. The costumes looked as if the makers of this film have studied cartoons like "Asterix and Obelix" rather than history books.

Christophe Lambert has played in a lot of good movies but also bad ones and this is one of his worst.

Everything in this film just has the feel of being fake. The worst are the Teutons who are ALL shown red-haired. What a joke. Did they all fall into the same pot of red paint?

Brandauer and his cynicism kept me going in that movie. This is how Caesar should be portrayed: as a ruthless, cynical, and ice-cold careerist politician who walks over corpses to achieve his political aims. That portrayal of Caesar in the film is good and historically accurate.

The rest should be kept in silence.

If the French ever see how the Gauls are portrayed in this film, the director will never be allowed to enter France again.

Summary: I would rather throw myself on my own sword than . . .
Review: watch this horrid movie ever again. I like Christopher Lambert. I really do. Even in his awful, cheesy movies. But not this one. At one point during the movie, I turned to my husband and said, "Remember when Clint Eastwood went and made Spagetti Westerns? Well, this is a Spaghetti Braveheart." I actually sat through the whole thing. I truly don't know why, and would like to demand two plus hours of my life back, thank you very much. It wasn't exciting, it wasn't epic (well, except in the epic amount of time they took to draw out the most boring battle scene I've seen in my entire life). The best part of this movie (besides when it was finished) was when the townswomen got on the town walls and started baring their breasts to distract the Roman soldiers. Gratuitous breast shots always enlighten a dull movie. Even so, this film gets a rating of "what... did they think they were doing?" from me.
