Summary: Best film I've seen.
Review: Since I am a Jane Austen fan, the most wonderful thing to me about this film is the way that Emma Thompson remained loyal to the novel. Her screenplay absolutely captures Austen's dry humor. This film is such a treasure. I bought it and watch it all of the time. I would reccomend it to anyone who loves a good story full of wonderful characters. It is a timeless story.

Summary: If there's a better adaptation, I haven't seen it!
Review:

Emma Thompson did a fabulous job with the script....Ang Lee did a wonderful job with the filming...and the cast did a superb job with their characters.

If you like cinema at its best, this is a must-see video. It just doesn't get any better than this!

Enjoy!

Summary: ...deeply reaching.
Review: This adaptation of the Jane Austen Classic has proven itself worthy of her name. The screenplay, written by Emma Thompson, pays close attention to the heart of Jane Austen. The joys coupled with the many sorrows of these girls carry the viewers along on a heart-felt journey that captures the soul. The strength of Elinor Dashwood is something I, to this day, cannot apprehend. It is so moving, so challenging, the way she carries the burdens of everyone in her household upon her shoulders, to the point of forgetting(rather, neglecting) her own very pressing needs. Emma Thompson is brilliant and makes this movie a laudable classic fit to be applauded for generations to come.

Summary: A wonderful film that matches the book - whch says a lot
Review: This is the first film I ever saw that matched my feelings when I read the book. I was never disappointed or critical as I watched it. I have read Jane Austen's books several times over for 25 years and was still able to weep and laugh throughout this film. Well done, and I thank all involved, especially the actress who portrayed Elinor, whom I have since discovered (through amazon.com) wrote the screenplay.

Summary: An excellent movie with perfect casting.
Review: I really enjoyed this movie mostly because of the acting talent. Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet did an incredibly good job of bringing their characters to life. After reading Sense and Sensibility, I also realized that this version was very close to the actual text. For anyone who likes romance movies, try this one and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Summary: The best movie I have ever seen. I want a sequel.
Review: Over Christmas, I watched over and over again.

When tired or down, I watch it. I really love Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson in this. Just superb, as well as each and exactly every other one of the actors.

Can we not have a sequel, with all of the same actors? Certainly Emma Thompson could handle it.

I would love to have it!

Summary: Never a dull moment!
Review: Emma Thompson's screenplay is superb! The story retains its charm and is easy to follow, with never a dull moment. I would recommend this version to anyone who doesn't usually have the patience for period films!

Summary: A beautiful story well told!
Review: This is one of my all time favorite movies, it is most certainly a *classic*. The story of the Daschwood sisters' troubles are told so sweetly- the sisters love each other so much and want each to be happy. It is funny, too, Mrs. Jennings and Charlotte lighten up any person's day yet they also make you frustrated for Marianne and Elinor. The scenery and music in this film are lovely... they portray the spirit of the scene you are watching. This movie was what made me a Jane Austen fan. Immediately after watching S&S I read it and fell in love with Jane Austen. I think everyone should watch this movie, you will be touched!

Summary: Two thumbs up! I loved the movie. Gracie from Waco.
Review: I enjoy watching the movie everytime it comes out. I've gone as far as recording the movie because I cannot find it in the stores. Way to go, Kate!

Summary: Blew me away
Review: Maybe my favorite part was the facial expressions in this movie. Just a little subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle extra effect. It was so well-acted and well-written that I have to buy my own copy, and I don't do that with many movies... in fact 3 in my whole life! Loved the story, loved the casting, loved the costumes, loves the scenery, loved the dialogue. Guess you can tell it's one of my favorites.
