Summary: one good thing.
Review: Before watching this movie, make sure that you either (A) Had plenty of sleep before watching, or (B) Watch with your significant other and snuggle. If you chose (B) you will then realize the chances of scoring will significantly increase as the movie will NOT KEEP anyone interested past lets say the first ten minutes. Good Luck! This movie is absoulutely BORING. You will have not one memorable moment to take away from the movie, unless you happen to create one yourself while watching it!

Summary: Best comedy iv'e seen for a long time.
Review: Catherine Zeta-Jones and George Clooney give and outstanding performance in this funny movie. When it came out, I scoffed at the movie, because I thought all of Zeta-Jones's movies were bad. However, she gives a great performance in this movie, along with her co-star. This is a good comedy that I would reccomend.

Review: No fancy write up here, but just the facts. I sat through ten minutes of this movie and knew I had made a mistake. After suffering through many bad plot "twists" we finally came to the end. Which wasn't too bad actually. BECAUSE YOU KNEW IT WAS OVER! So if you are looking for a good movie or just something to watch, turn on the tube! Because this movie is one that lives up to it's name

Summary: INTOLERABLE IS THE OPERATIVE WORD...
Review: I confess to being a big fan of the Coen brothers, which is why I was surprised at my response to this film. With a cast to die for, it has all the makings of a terrific film. Unfortunately, that is about as far as it gets, as the cast cannot undo what has been done by a screenplay that is seriously flawed, due to its inability to decide what type of film it should be. Unfortunately, it looks as if the director could not make up his mind either, producing a film that is neither fish nor fowl.

At first, I thought that it would be a screwball type of comedy, with George Clooney in the role that would have gone to Cary Grant in the golden age of filmmaking. Then, it seems to take another direction altogether, as if it were supposed to be a romantic comedy with a dark side or simply satire gone awry. Who knows? The Coen brothers surely don't. The film lacks a total surety of identity that kills it, despite the stellar cast. It is a flop, pure and simple.

The plot line is a fairly basic one. It is about a slick, greedy and grasping, unscrupulous matrimonial attorney (George Clooney), the kind that gives all lawyers a bad name, and a greedy and grasping gold digging beauty (Catherine Zeta-Jones), who gives all beautiful women a bad name. Their paths cross, and the chase is on. Unfortunately, the viewer does not give a rat's behind about either one of them. There is nothing that would ingratiate them to the viewer, due to the two dimensional, leaden screenplay to nowhere in which laughs are few and far between.

If you are a die hard Coen brothers fan, as I am, do yourself a favor and, rather than buy this film, rent it first. You will thank me for this advice, once you have seen this film.

Summary: Funny and flawed
Review: In "Intolerable Cruelty," George Clooney plays a truth0bending divorce lawyer who has met his match in Catherine Zeta-Jone's sexy gold digger. This is a Coen Brothers film, so as you can expect there are plenty of colorful characters, and hilarious dialogue that is such a staple of their work. The good news is that it is a fine comedy with a much more sophisticated screenplay than anything else you could probably fine today, George Clooney gives a slimy (and great) performance as Miley Massey, and the film never gets dull or bogged down in the middle. The bad news is that Zeta-Jones is nothing more than a beautiful statue (definitely not one of the best actresses on the planet), as well as the film having no real sense of structure. It never knows what it really wants to be, which make certain scenes come out of nowhere and fail to connect to the audience. Still, this is a pretty good comedy and I would recommend it if you don't have anything else to do.

Summary: Love amongst the sharks
Review: I think the actors do a wonderful job with the materials they are given. George Clooney, Catherine Zeta-Jones, et al give their roles energy and sparkle. The story line is like watching a ball of snakes all trying to eat each other and mate at the same time. Except that these snakes are all obsessed with cosmetic surgery.

Miles Massey (Clooney) is a supremely successful divorce attorney who wins impossible settlements for his clients while crushing the other side without regard to facts, truth, or even ethics. Marylin (Zeta-Jones) is a gold digger who wants a divorce settlement to provide her with independence. Unfortunately for her she ends up on the wrong side of Massey the first time they meet. What she does about that crushing experience is the rest of the movie, which I can't talk about here.

In spite of the virtues the movie has in performance, it lacks some sparkle in the screenplay. With characters this cynical the movie needs to delight in its sheer all conquering wit to draw you in. As it is, this movie, while entertaining and funny, still left me feeling a bit outside of it all. If you like Clooney and/or Zeta-Jones then you will at least have a couple of hours looking at them. However, if you are looking for something wonderful, look elsewhere. I will say that Geoffrey Rush has a small role in this movie but proves the rule about there not being small roles only small actors. In some ways, his performance is the most memorable role in the film.

Summary: Such potential, and yet so bad
Review: With the sleek talents of Clooney and Zeta-Jones, one would think that this movie would be a surefire hit. It's not. The writing fails miserably, letting down what could have been fabulous chemistry. Too many random screams... too repetitive. Quite a shame considering the serious talent casted for the movie. Try again, Catherine and George, but fire the sceenwriter.

Summary: Intolerable and Cruel
Review: This movie was both intolerable and cruel to the eyes, ears, ah heck to all the senses. This movie only had one funny thing about it: Cedric the entertainer saying "I'm gonna nail yo' ass!' and that was only good for a couple laughs. It was a waste of time, luckily I didn't go of my free will so my taste in choosing movies stays perfect. DO NOT RENT THIS MOVIE! YOU WILL BE DISSAPOINTED!

Summary: Very amusing
Review: George Clooney (Miles Massey) and Catherine Zeta-Jones(Marylin Rexroth) and Geoffrey Rush (Donovan Donaly) star in "Intolerable Cruelty", a film from the mind of the Coen brothers.

It tells the story of an unscrupolous divorce lawyer (Clooney) who falls for one of his clients wives (Zeta-Jones) who also happens to be a gold-digger.

I have to admit, I don't like most of the Coen brothers movies, but I really enjoyed this one. It was refreshingly mostly free of their usual smattering of smut and tastelessness and was very well written. George Clooney is sensational in his role of Miles Massey and the whole affair reminded me of the early Cary Grant comedies that I enjoy so much.

Their a many entertaining moments in this film and a few twists and turns which I won't spoil for anyone here. It's an enjoyable ride.

Enjoy this movie and thanks for reading.

Summary: L.A. Comedy
Review: This is another one of those comedies that makes you wonder if the people living in Los Angeles are familiar with the world as the rest of us know it. The movie is funny but the premise is pretty "out there". Once you get past accepting the premise that the sole reason people, mostly women, marry is to get a good divorce settlement you can appreciate the idea that we should all be giddy that Miles, the foremost in divorce attorneys, has fallen in love and wants to marry Madeline whose original goal of soaking him for the usual good divorce settlement has gone awry because she has fallen in love with him too. Past that, there are a lot of chuckles and both Clooney and the female lead are very attractive actors.
