The player features high-resolution component-video outputs, compatibility with audio CD-R/CD-RW discs, play exchange (swap four discs while one plays), and block noise reduction (BNR), which minimizes choppy image distortion during scenes where the whole image is changing quickly. SmoothScan and SmoothSlow modes provide the cleanest playback of DVD in slow motion and scan speeds, and DVD/CD Text functionality displays title and artist information on encoded discs. Top-of-the-line component-video outputs help minimize line scan and digital artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.
