Summary: great buy
Review: I bought this product for my husband who travels alot. He is totally satisfied with the ease of use and picture size and quality. Very durable, too. My only complaint is the battery only lasts one movie, but not a Godfather length movie.

Summary: Perfect for the price.....
Review: I bought this product primarily for my 9-year old's use in the car on those long trips. However, the unit is so good, that we use it a lot more often. There are many reviews here, so I won't go into much detail. I just want to say that I am extremely happy I purchased this device. It was delivered quickly, and the packaging was good. The battery charged in less than 5 hours, rather than the stated 6. Everything you need is included. It works great in the car, out by the pool, in the house, everywhere. I would have given 5 stars, but the external speakers are pretty tinny, even when using the built in equalizer. Use the headphones...it will sound better than at the movie theater. Additionally, although the picture quality is very, very good, it is not perfect. Pixels are visible at times, but not to the point of distraction. However, for the price, I don't think this unit can be beat. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for such a product.

Summary: Horrible Battery Life
Review: I got this specifically for a long plane trip. I was unpleasantly surprised when the battery died a quarter of the way through the second movie. I wasn't watching "Dances With Wolves" or "Titanic", just normal movies.

Without the option of running it on normal batteries instead of the included battery pack, I can't reccomend this DVD player for travel.

However, if you're taking it for car rides, it does come with the car adapter. I never took advantage of it, but I can only assume this would negate the battery problem (assuming you have an extra plug for it in the car).

Summary: Purchased from Wal-Mart, Great Product!
Review: I had ordered this product through Amazon.com, but after waiting for 3 weeks for it to ship, I canceled and went with Wal-Mart Online. Some stores may have the 8", but most only have the 7". I could purchase it for the same price through Wal-Mart, though they add tax so it made it a few dollars more. However, I received it in 3 days, so I believe it was worth it.

The DVD player itself is wonderful. It is well built and has a lot of outstanding features that my current dvd/vcr combo player at home doesn't. It will play any type of DVD that I have, including vcd's, music, picture cd, etc.

The screen is very clear and the sound from the speakers is good, though you will want headphones for a car. If more than one person were listening to the video you could get a 2 or 3 way headphone splitter so more people could listen by headphone. You could also use your cd player cassette that plugs into your car cassette deck to play the sound over you vehicle sound system. I also use a standalone mini speaker for listening at home or on the road.

If you are going to use the dvd player in you car, and that is why most people buy these types of dvd players, you could go for the Suspension Theater product advertised on the net. It sells for around $$ or more at some websites. However, I found a great little portable dvd player bag at Wal-Mart. It is in the electronics section with the dvd disc holder bags and other types of camera/electronic bags. $$ for this bag and it will strap to one seat or hang in between the bucket seats (like those of a mini van). Same features as the Suspension Theater, but a much better deal for me.

The battery is very slim and attaches to the bottom of the DVD player. Adds a little bulk, but nothing much.

Wow, what a great idea this has turned out to be. As we head for WDW in a few months, this will be a lifesaver.

Summary: Great DVD player
Review: I have been using this for about 10 days. So far no problems. It really helps on a long trip. The build quality seems to be there. Good screen, pretty sharp and visible even when on low brightness setting. Small and handy. Sound out of built in speakers is not bad. Criticisms so far: It is kind of slippery if you put it on your lap because the bottom is smooth and slock. The battery doesn't seem to last much longer than 1 movie, even when brightness is turned low. The optional settings take a bit to figure out. The manual is poorly written. Good value to price ratio. I was looking at Toshiba and other Japanese brands before, but the extra $100 they cost isn't worth it.

Summary: Great value!
Review: I have had my unit for 3 days and I am happy. My biggest complaints are no FF/REW on the unit. You have to use the remote. With so many other button on the unit this is really surprising. There does not seem to be any battery status indicator. You would think there would be a meter on what is left. The screen could be a little sharper but for the price it is well worth it. It would also be nice to have the bookmark work when the unit was powered off. The unit is a little bigger than what I thought it was going to be.

Good things

1) 8" screen is large. I usually use a 5" device and this is a huge difference.
2) Screen is very, very viewable from multiple angles. This unit can be watched by 3 kids without any problem.
3) I find the unit to be built very well. Nice case, buttons seem to work well, etc. Time will tell here. Plus I have 6 small children so we will see if the unit holds up.
4) I really like how the battery works. The unit can be used without the battery and nothing seems to be missing. So the unit if fully contained without the batter. Then if you use the battery it just snaps on the bottom.
5) After reading the reviews I thought the sound was going to be horrible. I have not had any problem at all hearing the unit. I also tend not to hear TVs that well anyway and this unit causes me no problem at all.
6) Being able to input a video analog signal and just use the DVD players video capability is a big plus for me. It can be used as a video display for Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, etc. I often times need a video device because I am debugging something in the house and this is a huge help.
7) The number 1# for this unit is the price. With the $$$GC it is $$$ for a 8" DVD player. You just can't beat this. It is less than 1/2 as much as the name brand units.

No surprises here. Pretty much what other reviewers have been saying.

Summary: Good, but not good enough
Review: I have read all the previous rewiews from others, and decided to get one. It is, indeed, a good DVD player for the price. But my DVD player quits playing after the first week with my 3 year-old daughter. It is a good enough DVD player that I decided to send back to Amazon for a replacement.

Summary: Great Player
Review: I just purchased this player off of Amazon.com about a week and a half ago. So far, it hasn't had any trouble. The picture is great, the sound is good, (great with headphones). I love that it comes with a car adapter, and many other things. Some cons are that the battery only last about 2 hrs, so it wouldn't be much help on a plane. Also, the top of the part of the dvd player were the cd is put can bend open while it is closed (try to understand what I'm saying). Overall, this is the best dvd player for its price range.

Summary: Where do you get warranty service?
Review: I looked at these units. There is no phone nor address for service that I could find, and the company has no listing on the web at all.
