Summary: Excellent item for excellent price
Review: I bought this over a year ago when Amazon first debuted it at $99. Wow! What a steal! I've not had any problems with it AT ALL, the DVDs play back perfectly, and the VCR is easy to use/set up and has great feedback also. The remote control works okay. I've dropped it a few times and sometimes it's hard to get the buttons to push, but that's hardly Sylvania's fault :) Overall I'm *very* pleased with this combo, it's just what I need.

Summary: I am SO disappointed
Review: I got this for my 3 year old for Christmas mainly because I was tired of hearing all of his Disney vidoes a million times a day. Things went great for 3 months. Then the stupid thing ate Dumbo. Image a little 3 year old crying because 1. Dumbo (his favorite because we sing the songs together) is now all gone and 2. he can't watch ANY of his tapes in his room now. I really wish that I read the other reviews before getting excited about this purchase and disappointing my son. DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT! I would've been better off acting out the videos myself.

Summary: Best Value for the money
Review: I have had this unit now for over a year and it works great. It reads all my discs and I have enjoyed using the remote which has all functions on it. I paid more than the $99.99 sale price you have, and will buy these as Christmas gifts for my children.

This is the best price I found anywhere for a name-brand DVD/VCR Deck!!

Summary: Great Deal
Review: I have to say this is one of the best deals I've come across in a long time. For a great price you get a vcr and dvd player in one. I really liked how easy it was to hook up and use and also enjoyed all the features. I get great picture quality with this unit and really have no complaints. Good gift idea for the electronics buff in your family.

Summary: No problems, works great.
Review: I purchased this because I didn't want to have to deal with trying to make room for two individual pieces of equipment. It's a basic machine but does everything I need it to do. You couldn't get a VCR by itself this cheap just a few years ago.

Summary: Poorly made DVD/VCR combo out there by Sylvania
Review: I purchased this crap Funai made Sylvania DVD/VCR combo for Christmas after I decided that I should retire my old still running strong and trouble-free 14 year old Funai made Sylvania 4-head VCR. Unfortunately, it turns out that my Sylvania DVD/VCR combo died after only two months of use. Buyers should be aware with cheapo electronics nowadays. I strongly suggest everybody not to buy this unit. The DVD side uses really cheap lens that can fail very easily. The VCR side uses extremely cheap fragile parts that can get broken off easily, and it is not appropriate to use these parts to manufacture VCRs. It is to my belief that Funai today, who currently makes Emerson, Symphonic, and Sylvania electronics, has taken a step to produce electronics that is not acceptable for people in society. Sylvania will be releasing a DVD Recorder/VCR combo very soon, and I suggest that you avoid that brand at all cost, even if it costs $350.

I guess it's back to my old 14 year old Funai made Sylvania VCR. This VCR has an indestructable mechanical chassis that rarely breaks and has already outlasted my old Panasonic, Sharp, Sanyo, and Mitsubishi VCRs. Who says the cheapest wasn't the best that happened a decade ago. It turns out that it has.

Summary: Reviews I read before were great but I differ
Review: I purchased this unit in January 2004 after reading about 10 reviews on this website. All the reviews were stellar. I am not happy with the VCR feature of this unit. It is very noisy. Even when not playing and the unit is powered up. It tapes terribly. The only good thing is the sound other than the noise. The DVD feature is fine. I guess if you are not that particular about the VCR this would be a good choice. However, I want a better VCR.

Summary: Don't waist your cash
Review: I purchased this VCR/DVD combo two months ago because it was an inexpensive way to have the benefits of a VCR and a DVD player. The DVD player quit working last week.

Don't waist your money!

Summary: HUGE PIECE OF JUNK
Review: I read quite a few of the reviews (of course after I had purchased and owned this unit for 4 months). Many people had problems with the VCR. That is the only part of the machine that actually works well on ours. The DVD player stops working right in the middle of a movie. You can hear the machine clicking away trying to track. We have to stop and restart it again but it doesn't always work. We usually end up having to finish our movie on our laptop computer. There are times that we can't even get the DVD player to load a DVD at all. Very frustrating when you have a 3 year old wanting to watch her favorite movie. The remote control is good for nothing. You point it at the unit but usually nothing happens. I will never even consider buying another Sylvania product again.

Don't waste your money on this hunk of junk.

Summary: Completely and utterly disappointed...
Review: I received this DVD/VCR combo for Christmas last year, and I'm totally dissatisfied with it. The user interface is deplorarble, and the remote can actually get out of sync with the main unit! And now, the VCR record quality is degrading rapidly. The Super Bowl is snowy and cuts out on a new tape!
