Review: PLEASE SEE Addressing consumer concerns about Zenith DVD above this section. It is a proven fact that the issues with DVD's is a problem on the DISC itself. Zentih will modify the unit FREE, to allow the unit to deal with these badly recorded DVD's!By the way, this is an excellent player at an excellent price.

Summary: It worked...
Review: The experience I had with the DVD2200 was a little different than the other reviews. The player played movies fine, good crisp image and sound, and no flicering like the other reviewer noticed. However, I decided not to keep it because throughout almost every movie, the player would "freeze" about 5 or 6 times for about a second or two. It was pretty annoying. I would recommend just forking out the extra 30 bucks and getting a better one.

Summary: Stay away from this one...
Review: The player overall doesn't measure up to any of the recent Toshiba or Panasonic players. The video quality is somewhat poor due to a massive amount of flickering throughout any movie. I don't even want to know what will happen when I put in Matrix later today. On a good note, I do like the nice green color of the text on the player, and the remote is above average for an entry level player. My advice: add the extra $70 or so and go for the Toshiba SD2109!

Summary: A great DVD player for the price
Review: The Zenith DVD2200 was my first DVD player. I bought it for the great price. Contrary to what others have said here, I have had no problems with it. The picture is crystal clear and the player has all the features I want. I just got the Matrix yesterday and was worried that it might not work. I put the disc in, though, and everything works fine including the special features. As far as I can tell the problems others have reported with this player are either random defects that should be covered by the warranty or are manufacturing problems that have been fixed in recent product runs.

Review: This DVD is nice! I read reviews before I bought this product, yet I took a chance. It was worth it! Bottom line... I rented DVD's from Blockbuster and one was sort of dirty. I had to use my cleaner wipes and it was brand new. Some folks don't know how to handle discs, that's the only time it paused! I like it!

Summary: Could be Better
Review: This DVD Player is a descent Player for the money, However it does have several drawbacks. 1> Any DVD that has any sort of multitrack contiguous playback will not play either at all or it will skip all over the place. (Some movies with this problem are The Matrix, The Abyss, Alien, and several others that have multiple editions coinciding together). There is no statement on the DVD movie itself to warn you of this problem. Be warned that most retail sales store will NOT take back any movies for this problem, if they are open. 2> DVD Player has no optical output (Minor problem, if you are looking for the top of the line)

Summary: A Great Value and Easy Hookup
Review: This is a great buy for anyone that wants a good basic DVD player. I hooked it up in minutes without any problem. Zenith has stated why there is a problem with "The Matrix" so I don't see why anyone should hesitate buying this player. I am very pleased!

Review: This is a GREAT unit.... but units made before MAY 2000 may have a bad "firmware chip-set" which MUST be replaced (Zenith will do this for free! if you INSIST on it) So if your unit has problems with the Matrix DVD, you've got the OLD chip-set. Note that the manufacture date is on the OUTSIDE of the box... so insist on one made in or after MAY 2000. The NEW units are super units.... they've played every DVD I've put in... and the price is right... CC has them for 179 also. They only drawback is the lack of Component Video and an Optical Digital output.... but these aren't big problems at all. Easy to use features... great picture, great audio, cheap price.
