Summary: Great DVD player for about 2 months
Review: I bought one of these for my father after seeing how great my roommate's was but after 2-3 months both of them started flickering and would freeze up from time to time and now my fathers only plays about half the DVDs he owns and my roommates can't get through 20 minutes of a movie without flickering then locking up. I found out from talking to people on the internet that about half of these units have MAJOR hardware issues. Buyer Beware.

Summary: A simple player with basic excellent feature
Review: This is a simple player that does not have many features but what make me choose this one is that the video and audio is the same as those high priced dvd player, no difference whatsoever. For the features it matters to me little, once the movie is razor sharp and the audio crisp and clear i am happy.

Summary: Very Pleased with Unit
Review: I bought this unit after purchasing, and returning a more expensive Samsung 709. The 709 kept skipping on The Mummy, after the layer change, and a few others. After purchasing the RCA, I had NO PROBLEMS whatsoever playing the movies I want to.Great audio, Great video! The only con to this unit, is its lack of features such as zoom, vcd play ability, and lack of track display on front panel. But hey, for this price, who cares?

Summary: Lasted two months
Review: I was incredibly pleased with my RCA DVD when i bought it at the end of August. The first problem I noticed was while watching "A Simple Plan." The screen flickered during the really white snow scenes. No problem . . . just the disk I thought. Then after two months of ownership the DVD decided to eat DVD's rather than play them. The tray would close and grind and click away until it was good and ready to let go. Needless to say, I took it back and bought a different brand.

Summary: Great Entry-level DVD Player at an Affordable Price
Review: I was initially concerned about buying the RCA 5220P DVD player after several of the reviews I read here. However, I decided to give it a try and am thoroughly glad I did. Great picture, great sound! Plenty of features. I have not experienced a single problem with error messages on any of the DVD's I've purchased. This is one great little machine for the price!

Summary: Impressed but concerned about "Bug's Life" performance probs
Review: Just bought/hooked up my unit. Impressed with video and audio performance. I think I can see a slight offset between the sound and the video on "George of the Jungle" and "Face Off" not sure if all DVDs players are like this... or maybe this RCA has this characteristic? I need to rent "Bug's Life" and look for the problem others have mentioned. Overall good value for the money.

Summary: Stay away from RCA
Review: This player has major problems with certain disks. It can't even begin to play John Carpenter's Vampires. "The Matrix" (dual layer disk) gets about half way through, then only plays every other chapter. The player's computer software(firmware) loses it's mind all too often even on disks it has previously played causing the "incompatible disk message" which requires resetting the player by unplugging it. If you play back movies using the Dolby Digital sound setting you get periodic pops in the soundtrack and times when the sound goes away for a few seconds. I have to say overall it has been a very pathetic DVD player thus proving once again that "you get what you pay". If you have one of these players and think it's great, just wait over time with more movies played you will change your mind!

Summary: You get what you pay for.
Review: I used this DVD player for approximately four months before it began experiencing occasional glitches (the Bug's Life DVD was one of those affected). Its performance was unpredictable in that some DVDs it would play flawlessly and others it would simply not play. Most irritating of all was that it was developing a nasty habit of partly playing movies and then shutting down just as the conclusion was drawing close. Needless to say, it's in the shop for the second time (the first time it came back with a clean bill of health, yeah right). The warranty is only three months parts and labor, so any work is coming out of pocket. Also, I found the remote for this unit clumsy and innefficient. My advice, spend more, you'll get more.

Summary: Great Value!
Review: I have had good luck with RCA products in the past, so I decided to give their DVD player a try. I have had no trouble with it at all. It is very affordable considering the many good features it has.

Summary: So Far So Good
Review: I just bought this DVD player to replace a sub-par one bought just a few months back. So far this DVD player played Robocop RSDL edition and The Matrix with absolutly no skips, stutters or layer switch hiccups. Very nice. My old DVD player wouldn't even load The Matrix and Robocop would start skipping horribly after the layer switch on my old DVD player. So far I'm very impressed. The audio sounds better than my old DVD player, but doesn't support simulated 3D sound or Zoom. But the important thing is that it has played all the "high end" DVD's I have thrown at it withoout a hitch. I extremely happy. Just wish I knew about this DVD player a few month ago. Ohh Well.
