Rating: Summary: Love it!!! Review: Just bought it and my wife and I love it. I didn't feel like spending a fortune and I checked out all the reviews I could find on the web and they all praised the SD2700 big time. The sound/picture is fantastic. Our first two movies were Exit Wounds, and Blade Runner...way better on DVD. It's our first DVD player, so we don't have a lot of expertise in the DVD world, but we can certainly say this...we'll never go back to VHS!!! We love our SD2700!!! Later, Pat
Rating: Summary: Excellant stuff for the buck. Review: Read about a hundred reviews before I finally decided to buy this Toshiba SD2700 off Amazon. And Iam not disappointed at all, and when I see people paying hundreds of dollars more for other dvds I laugh. Best features are the dialogue enhancer, the zoom features and the black leve adjustments. I bought the moster cables to hook it up through, but with the type of picture and sound quality I get from this player, I did not need it. No complains about the remote, works great. The player is very quiet and loads dvds pretty fast. Iam one happy customer. No regrets and plenty of recommendations.
Rating: Summary: Bang for the buck Review: Toshiba SD2700 is a great machine for the money. It plays a few different formats more than the others. It is very easy to operate. I opened the box and just connected the cables that was provided and it was ready. I recommend this machine ....
Rating: Summary: you'd better have extremely clean dvds Review: It has most of the functions you need for a entry-level dvd player. And it displays quit sharp video with saturate color. Fast and smooth response. But you need very clean dvds. Otherwise, it skips frames and you lose video on the screen. It is also sensitive to some intense copy-right-protection discs, such as Disney discs.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful picture Review: I'm very happy with my SD-2700, the picture quality is great, I also play a lot of CD-R's and CD-RW's, I think it's the best for the money.
Rating: Summary: there is a difference between dvd players Review: has better picture than my other dvd (rca) . zoom feature a must- it allows you to magnify wide screen picture a little at a time until you get a full screen image. naturally you lose a little picture quality each step, but you can decide the ratio of screen size versus picture quality. lots of other features for what i thought was a great price.
Rating: Summary: Can't beat price/value!! Review: This is the first DVD player I have owned. I wanted to buy a DVD player with the features I felt were important at a good price. So here is my review: First, I was interested in the features it had. This DVD player can play DVD's(duh), CD, CD-R, CD-RW, HDCD, and DVD-R. I don't know about the last one, but it says so on the Toshiba website. Those are the main features that are important TO ME. However, it also has a zoom feature with three different levels of magnification which is really nice, although on the third zoom, the detail becomes a LITTLE fuzzy, but you can still see the picture clear. It has a multiple angle camera function, which works on certain scenes in some DVD's. I have yet to use this function, but I find it kinda neat. Second, the setup is so easy. I was watching a DVD within 5 minutes of opening the box. Of course, I am not connecting it to a receiver, just directly to the TV. But it would be simple to incorporate a HT system with this DVD player. Third, the quality. The picture is great. Also, this player can play scratched disks VERY well, as most rental disks are a little worn. Also, the playback is extremely silent. I could hear a VERY faint whirring of the disk, and I was sitting about 6 feet away! I believe if I had a TV cabinet of some sort to put it in, I wouldn't hear a thing. Fourth: I have read numerous reviews on various websites on some of the drawbacks of this player, most of them complaining about the remote being too small or the buttons on the remote being too close together. In my opinion, the remote is just fine. Maybe these people had stumpy fingers or something, but I don't see how they can say the remote is a problem. Finally, I would like to say that for an entry-level DVD player, for the features you get, and for the price you pay, this is a GREAT purchase.
Rating: Summary: Toshiba SD2700 DVD Player Review: Looks good even on my crummy old Samsung TV (analog inputs only). Down the road I'm planning on getting a wide screen TV and I can't wait to try the Toshiba on that.
Rating: Summary: Great buy for the price and for first time DVD buyers Review: Are there better DVD players out there? Of course, there is always something better out there (the grass is always greener on the other side, right?), but for the price AND quality that you receive with the SD 2700, you can't go wrong.
I've owned one for about a week now, and this is the first DVD player that I have owned. I have had buddies already come over and have said they are going to sell theirs and buy this one because it is easy to use, and the quality is great. Toshiba has always been known for making high quality products, such as laptops, and this DVD player is no exception to their high line of quality home electronic devices. If you've never owned a DVD player, have been looking to buy one but reluctant because you own 200 VHS tapes like me, jump on the DVD bandwagon and start over. It is just like the first time you use high speed internet: once you use it, you'll never go back to dial up. Same with DVD. See a DVD movie, and you'll be very hesitant to go back to VHS. This is a great product for the first time DVD buyer. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: That special feeling with Toshiba products Review: I recently purchased a Toshiba 32" TV and I have to say that the pictures quality is excellent. I don't even think about purchasing Sony products only because, they tend to break down very soon. I ordered the SD2700 only after reading all the great things about the SD1600 and SD1700.... I'M STILL WAITING FOR IT SINCE I ORDERED IT RECENTLY....AND AM EAGERLY ANTICIPATING ITS ARRIVAL! By the way, some people have made comments that the SD2700 does not read CDRW's. They're wrong because the official Toshiba website states that it can read CDRW's! Check it out!
