Rating: Summary: Best player I've ever owned! Review: I am somewhat of an audiophile and manage the electronics department of a major retail store. Of all the 'stand-alone' players I have owned, this one is by far the best. I have purchased/ tested dozens of DVD players over the years and I keep coming back to this one for my own personal home use, as well as to recommend to customers. Every now and then, we will have one to sell, but usually the best buys are used ones on Amazon. THESE ARE DIFFICULT TO FIND AT THIS POINT--PANASONIC'S BEST AND MOST RELIABLE MODEL!! The picture quality is outstanding! Mine has lasted for 3 years and is still going strong!
Rating: Summary: Excellent player except for a few kinks... Review: I bought this DVD player 3 months ago and I could never be happier with it. Since then I have bought 3 more of these players for friends and relatives. I bought the Black or Silver they are exactly identical in functionality. I prefer the Silver look myself. The MP3 player was a big plus! It plays my MP3 disks with ease. The only problem is that it only displays the numbers of my MP3 files when playing it. So you may have to memorize your MP3 via numbers. It will play the files in the order the MP3 files are written. Just make sure you make a list of the songs cause there is no way to memorize over a hundred songs in a disk. Unlike the Toshiba DVD with the MP3 playing capability, the Panasonic DVD/CD/VCD/MP3 COULD Fast Forward/Rewind while playing the MP3 files. Im glad I did not buy the Toshiba, pretty much all the Toshiba players I tried in the electronics store could not fast forward/rewind MP3 file/song. This is bothersome especially if you need to scan through your MP3 songs. Playback was excellent. I haven't got any bad pixelations where the picture was not completely processed which leaves bigger squares of the image all over the place. I did get a couple pauses/delay/discontinuity while playing the DVD on some disks. The discontinuity usually happens while it switches to the next track. It only happens rarely in the frequency of once in 10 movies I play. It may just be the disk itself causing it, especially if it has scratches. As far a CD playing is concerned, it has pretty much what a normal CD player has. Search, Fast Forward, Rewind, Random, Scan and more... Just read up on the specifications to find out the rest. VCD Playback is excellent as well. The image was nice and clear. Of course it will never match up with the DVD's picture quality. The component outputs and digital audio output is a plus for future expansions. Most new higher end televisions and receivers have component inputs now. And most receivers that support DTS/Dolby digital 5.1 will have digital audio inputs. Though this particular player does not support progressive scan, the picture quality is up to par. Panasonic makes a model that supports progressive scan but it is slightly more expensive. It will look very similar to this one except it will say progressive scan on the front disk tray. This player also implements special function for surround sound. It will simulate a surround sound through your television even though you don't have any of the complex receivers/audio equipment. Of course it will not match up with having your own surround receiver, but it is good enough if you don't have one. This player has proven itself to be very reliable to me. Its ease of use and functionality makes it my top pick especially for its price range. At Amazons current pricing on this player (Black or Silver), you cannot find a better name brand in its class!
Rating: Summary: good player at a great price Review: I bought this DVD player knowing next to nothing about DVD's but I read a lot of reviews here on amazon and this panansonic looked good. I use this player in my bedroom for mainly DVD viewing, so I can't really comment on the MP3 player or its features. I haven't had any problems with it, except one of my lower-quality DVD's makes lines go across the TV screen when it plays, but its hardly noticeable. Overall, I think it is a good quality player for the amount of money you pay. There are pros and cons with every model, it seems, so just research before you do any purchasing.
Rating: Summary: terrific Review: I did the research -- plenty of it -- and chose this model, which seemed to be the most highly-regarded non-progressive-scan model out there (for less than [money], at least). I've had it for several months, and have zero complaints. All the features are terrific; I love the high-speed scan modes; it works great with anamorphic-widescreen discs and my anamorphic-widescreen-enabled TV; etc. The "dialogue enhancer" feature works really well, too; to my ears, it makes a noticeable difference. Plus, the silver case is really slick-looking. There may be an equally good DVD player out there in the same price range, but knowing that wouldn't trouble me one bit. I couldn't be happier.
Rating: Summary: H02 DVD Error Review: I have a Technics HDV600. I too had the H02 error that is making everyone so unhappy. I managed to get my DVD player working again by removing the cover, plugging the machine back into the mains and trying again. I found that the disk was not being spun so i simply pressed down on the white circle above the Tray and this made it start spinning again. I hope this infomation can help others.. i can also sugest unplugging from the mains for 30 mins to reset the machine, also u could try opening and shutting the draw without a dvd inserted. This may encourage the DVD to spin.. As far as i can tell the H02 error means either the motor is broken or malfunctioned.
Rating: Summary: Great buy!! Review: I have owned this DVD since Dec 2001, and it really does everything. The picture and sound quality is awesome. This is a great DVD for any collection. Price is also a plus.
Rating: Summary: A great dvd player....without question! Review: I have spent a very long time searching for the right dvd player and I came across the Panasonic RV31. It is great! Together with the ability to play mp3s and its incredible ease of use, this product is definitely worth the money. The silver color looks fantastic and its superior video and audio qualities makes this dvd player a must buy for all who are looking for something inexpensive.
Rating: Summary: Biggest bang for your buck!!! Review: I just purchased this dvd player by panasonic recently and I am so pleased with it’s level of quality. For $... you are getting features, picture quality, and an extra jack for a subwoofer that players 3 times as much do not have. I have read some reveiws that say the mp3 player lacks in quality. Well, I have played the highest quality bitrate (200+) to the lowest I could find (64) and the panasonic handles them all perfectly. This dvd player was the perfect compliment to my expanding home theater. Definitely buy this one. Panasonics quality is excellent!
Rating: Summary: One of a Kind DVD Player Review: I must say, this DVD player does have many useful features. It was much better than the JVC DVD player I had purchased. It works well, and is very sound. One problem is it doesnt have zoom capability and the MP3 playback is too much of a headache to even call it a feature. I would take a look and see what Technics has to offer, the Panasonic would be my second choice (even though they're the same company).
Rating: Summary: Great deal! Review: I personally paid a very very low price out of my pocket for this DVD player. I have been shopping around the internet to get information on DVD players for more than 3 months. I have finally come to the decision that this Panasonic DVD-RV31 wins it all. It has all the features that a Sony has to offer, only with a lower price. It can play CDR, CDRW, and even MP3. What can you ask for more for players in that price range? The first movie I watched with this player is Hannibal. You got to try the VSS and dialogue enhancer. They really make a difference! Of course, check out the cinema mode too. I am really satisfied with it! My brother owns the Sony ES7000 (the classic) that worths more than a thousand dollars retail price. But compare to my DVD-RV31, I can't tell the difference as far as picture quality is concerned. The only thing I have to complain about this is: the remote control is too small. Some buttons are not placed at the location where they are supposed to be placed. Hopefully Panasonic will improve their remote control in the future.
