Rating: Summary: No nonsense player Review: Having purchased this player few months back, not once did I face problems. A DVD player worth the $$$$
Rating: Summary: Very Very dissappointing Review: I bought a Norcent DP 300 from Wallmart in Connecticut. Surprisingly the cables were missing from the box , but I got a good impression of the company thru its customer care executive Mr. Altaf who promptly delivered to my address in NY. Sadly I reside in India and had left by the time the cables reached. Anyways the cables did reach me in India through our company's internal courier. But now I am equally dissappointed with the quality of the product. I thought this player works better than the APEX one ...but I was wrong.Everytime a play a CD it works for approx. 10 seconds and then the player hangs like a computer...I just cant operate it....This is ridiculous. I found out that there isnt any lens in the player to read. Due to which it hangs. I did not expect such a major goofup to happen with this product. First the cables then the lens...Is this how Norcent's Quality check works ??? I am very dissappointed . I have to say , I am a very dissappointed customer and I dont think am gonna trust any of Norcents products or recommend them.
Rating: Summary: Um, well, um, I only have 1 DVD player. Review: I can't make comparisons, but I can tell you that it serves its purpose. It's got basically everything, and it's cheap. Norcent's affordable DP300 features dual NTSC/PAL video outputs, built-in MP3 decoding, and a dual-laser pickup for compatibility with not only DVDs and CDs, but CD-Rs and CD-RWs as well. It's also ideal for taking with you on vacation in Europe or Japan, as you can manually select the voltage on the back panel. Keep in mind that it will only play Region 1 DVDs. Composite and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television. In the audio realm, a single set of left-right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. A 96 kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converter ensures optimal decoding of DVDs and CDs. Playback options include onscreen menu, parental lock, resume/memory play, eight-grade fast or slow motion, and nine-image digest viewing. Supplied accessories include a composite-video/stereo analog-audio interconnect, an instruction manual, and a full-function remote control. So not being a techo-geek, I can't say what brand is better. It serves it's purpose, and if you're thinking about buying a DVD player, then I would recomend this one.
Rating: Summary: NTSC AND PAL... Review: ...it seems it doesn't matter where your DVD comes from - it works! This is probably the best low-price multiregion player that there is. With the zoom function, it would be nicer not to see the little "zoom" sign in the corner, but oh well...! I've heard the newer models don't do PAL anymore but I got a pretty new one and it still works :) just get one and try it!
Rating: Summary: AMAZING DVD player for its price!!!! Review: I HIGHLY recommend this DVD player. It has played everything so far. I put in an authored vcd, played straight away. I put in a cdr filled with mpegs, it popped up a file browser where you can browse the mpegs on the cdr(or rw) and than just choose what you want, played perfectly. Tried DVDR movie, played just like a regular DVD. I was also able to make it region free by turning on the DVD player, than hitting setup, than 8888, than next. You will than see a new selection in the menu called version(on my version of the dp300 anyway). Set the region to 0 and than exit the setup. Power the DVD player off than on and the region setting will than be saved. It is now region-free, no need to enter the remote code ever again. As to those complaining about not being able to turn it off with the remote. Either use standby, if you hit standby again it will come back on OR stop being so lazy. You can get up to turn the player on and put the movie in , you can get up to turn it off. I highly recommend this player.
Rating: Summary: Falls into the 'you get what you pay for' category Review: Overall, the quality of this DVD player is alright considering the low price, but the one drawback I've encountered so far is bad enough to make this player really unpleasant to use. Since the first day the audio output from the player has been marred by weird random hisses and pops. It's gotten progressively worse over the past few months to the point where it's impossible to watch any DVD without being distracted by the constant noises. Even name brand manufacturers now are coming out with low cost DVD players, so in retrospect this was a poor choice. I wouldn't recommend this player.

Rating: Summary: Great product for the price Review: Hi I bought this product and I love it for its price!!! No hassles and confusing features involved.Plays anything you put into it.DVD/CD/MP3. Great for a normal TV match. Could not find the variable voltage selector :-(
Rating: Summary: Looks can be deceiving Review: The Norcent DP300 DVD Player is indeed a good dvd player to have in your room or living room, or wherever you wish to keep it (as long as it's not the bathroom!). However, I have this DVD player and think it is not as great as it seems to be. For one, you ALWAYS have to push the button to turn it off and on which for me is annoying. Two, you can't tell how far you are in your movie, which I also like to know. Three, the player makes an occasional buzz-like sound when in use. I find that particularly annoying. -_- And four, the remote is just really ugly! I don't really mind having this DVD player for a little while, but it does get on my nerves every once in a while. I give this DVD player 4 stars for its looks and for some of its quality.
Rating: Summary: Great for use in a foreign country Review: Works great in both 110/220v and can be made region-free easily with its remote. The jpeg feature is excellent, i take 5mp pictures with my sony digi camera and burn it on a disc and throw it inside the norcent. There, I get fullscreen pictures on my TV...plays all my svcds perfectly, my personal videos are all in svcd format. All-in-All here's the player that beats the Apex's.
