Summary: 1st Unit Defective - 2nd Great!!
Review: My prior review of this player was not good, however, Amazon.com quickly sent a new one which was easy to hookup and use. The picture is amazing (using S-Video connector) and there haven't been any problems playing discs.Norcet technical support was very responsive when contacted about problems with the first unit we received that wouldn't 'load' DVD's. I now can recommend this player without hesitation and the price cannot be beaten.

Summary: Excellent DVD player
Review: I have the older version of the DP300 and it's excellent! From what I've heard, the new version you get today is just as good and has a few advantages over the old one. Both can be made region free (using a secret menu) which is great if you get DVDs from Amazon.UK! I've talked friends and family into getting this player and that total now stands at 13 players! All of us love the DP300 and there wasn't a lemon in the bunch. I agree with the positives reported here and don't understand the low ratings. The only real negative is the poor manual but you can search the Internet for a PDF of the Citizen JDVD3830A manual (a Canadian clone of the DP300). Excellent value especially with the [$$$] mail-in rebate!

Summary: DVDs not working, CDs work!
Review: Just received this unit ordered through Amazon.com (quick shipment!!) and am disappointed that it is not functioning. Every DVD inserted results in a 'loading' message followed by 'No Disc'. However, audio CDs work fine. The user manual is barely adequate. I've contacted Norcet Tech support and am awaiting a response. I'll update this review with the outcome.

Summary: 5 stars for the price range...
Review: I purchased this player in Feb of 2003. All I wanted was to play DvD's. That's it. Nothing else. And that is exactly what I got in this player, and much more. The fact that it plays CD-R/W's and CD's and MP3's (contrary to another review, THIS PLAYER DOES NOT PLAY .MPEGS or .AVI's!) is a delightful bonus, and one I expect to take full advantage of. Overall, I'm happy with this player for the price. But there are a few minor complaints worth mentioning. The remote is feature rich, however its layout stinks; the buttons are oddly placed. It is very slow to load a DvD or CD and be ready for play. And here's a legitimate bad point: it can not be powered up with the remote; you can only operate the standby feature from the remote; you must hit the on/off switch on the unit itself. And also, the power button is so stiff I have to hold the unit down to push the button, otherwise I'd push the unit clear off my TV. Other than that I'm quite happy. 5 stars!

Review: I went through many review pages and wanted one that would play everything...I mean EVERYTHING!! And it does! To my surprise it even plays MPG! If you want a player that will play most formats, get this one. You can't beat it for the price!

Review: This is a great DVD player. It has everything you need, at a price you can't beat. It's such a good buy. It's easy to set up and easy to use. A great first DVD player for anyone who is thinking of getting a DVD player. I wouldn't use it on my HDTV home theater, but if you just want something simple that looks great, this is the one. It has good sound and picture for the price. Haven't had any problems with it, what can I say I love it. It was cool. Big Truck

Summary: Terrific basic DVD player
Review: If you want a basic DVD player, this Norcent is terrific, and you can't beat the price. The picture and sound are great, the player is easy to set up and use, and the remote works from across the room (unlike some remotes that come with certain more expensive brands...) The user guide isn't as helpful as it could be, but that's my only quibble. Highly recommended.

Review: This machine is great. I needed a dvd player that also plays vcd and it does. My expensive dvd player doesn't support it and I was kinda upset. But this norcent player surprised me and it even played mpg movies I burned as a data file on the computer!! Definitely worth the price.
