Summary: Great DVD Player. How Much?
Review: I purchased this DVD player to play not only region 1 DVD's but region 2 as well. This was my first DVD player so I didn't know what to expect. I read that you had to put in a code to do the region hack, but right out of the box I put in a region 2 DVD and it played perfectly. The picture and sound were more than I thought I would get. There's no LED display on the front of the unit but that shouldn't be a big deal. Now that I think of it, for the price, I should have gotten more than one. I am very happy with this one!

Summary: At this cost, you got to have it!
Review: Wow where do i start! The DP300 features dual NTSC/PAL video outputs, great for picking up cheaper DVD's from out of the U.S.
It plays MP3, DVDs, CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs. This is my first DVD player, and we are very happy with it.
... this little player rocks!
Did I say this player ROCKS!!!!! Yes it does!!!!

I say hurray for Norcent, and just in case they read these reviews, we hope they come out with a portable player with a 7" or 8" TFT LCD screen, Built-in stereo speakers and a High capacity, rechargeable Lithium battery! [at a decent price]BR>Can you build it? yes you can!

Summary: Disposable DVD Players!
Review: Works great so far. At these prices, these units are really disposable type players. Have good use of it for a year, and if it breaks down, dont repair it, just buy another one!

Summary: A Big Bang for the $ in a Small Box
Review: I had been looking for a 2nd DVD player that will do multi-format playback (DVD-VCD-SVCD-MP3). My Apex 5131 changer has served me well, but since it was the only player I'd had experience with, I figured to get another. While perusing the Nerdout.com forums on dvd players, I came across some good comments on the Norcent DP300, and the price seemed right, so I bought one. This single disc unit is small, but it's performance belies it's minimalist demeanor. It will play anything but soup can lids, as near as I can tell.
One of my gripes with the Apex unit was having to re-adjust my TV's video setting to make the picture viewable each time I watched a DVD in it. The Norcent was perfectly balanced right out of the box, PLUS it has built in brightness, contrast, & sharpness controls to boot! The only shortcomings I can see with it is not having a front display (no biggie, as the onscreen menu is well laid out and easy to use), and it not having an optical digital output (coax only). The build quality overall is quite adequate, although a little "delicate-seeming", perhaps. But heck, what do you expect at this pricepoint?
This unit was purchased to be used as a 2nd machine. Well ..guess what? The Apex was recently moved into the back bedroom. This little silver box is chock full of features at a price you can't beat.

Summary: Extremely satisfied with it! Playing any Brand name DVD,
Review: We purchased DVD payer in December 2002. I am extremely satisfied with it. It is attached to the 64" TV. The picture quality is perfect. DVD player has basic futures. Just what I need id. Three children like it as well, because it is simple to operate. I like it, because if they busted it - I will never worry about it.
This DVD is a perfect for these reasons: easy to operate, very low price, very good quality picture ... Playing any Brand name DVD, ANY one! Even made on PC, or made in Europe anything working.

Summary: Great Product for a Great Price
Review: I bought this after having to return my Apex AD-1200. The disc drive wouldn't even eject! So if you are trying to decide between Apex and Norcent I'd definitely go with Norcent.

The main reason I bought this player was for VCD/SVCDs which it plays very well. I might also add that it plays MP3s, MPEGs, DVD, CD, etc.

...

In the few days I've had it I haven't run into any problems, let's hope it stays that way :).

Summary: Played 1 DVD and DIED!
Review: Bought this a week ago, I hooked up the DVD player, tested it to make sure it worked (and that I plugged it in right) and it was fine! Went to watch a movie a few days later and it was dead! The picture was all b/w and smeary - tried multiple disks to no aveil....not even the start up screen showed correctly but sound worked fine. BEWARE BEWARE of the cheap DVD player!

Summary: Cheaply made
Review: This player is worth the cost but only if you have some time. When the player came the disk's caddie protective spring loaded face was not installed correctly. The darn thing was just flopping around and since it hooks in the box I had to open the machine and fix the damage. I figured it was not worth sending back for something that I could do in an hour or so but it was annoying. The problem I'm experiencing now is a random sound distortion that only lasts about .5 seconds and sounds like white noise coming form a TV with no signal. I have played about 6 DVDs so far and each one seems to create this distortion about 5 times though out a full-length movie. DOES ANYONE know what that is from? Otherwise the picture is great sound is perfect and I love the freeze-frame + step, zoom and fast forward features. I also thought the manual stinks! It does not give very good instructions on how to install with only one audio input slot on the tv and a stereo.

Summary: Excellent Player for the money
Review: This player plays many formats including DVD, DVD-R(RW), DVD+R(RW), VCD, and more... Both video and audio qulity are very good. For someone looking for for a great value, this is it.
