Summary: GREAT price, OK player.
Review: You can't beat the price on this player, but it's not the highest quality in the world. My other DVD player is a Sony that has always worked flawlessly. While the picture and sound on this Daewoo have been fine, it does have a few flaws. When I first start a disc playing, the subtitles are always on. There is no soft power off, the only way to turn off the player is to push the giant power button. The motor itself is very loud and continues to run after you've stopped the disc, which makes me uncomfortable NOT turning it off. And we've experienced periodic lockups where the picture just stops moving and the player won't respond to any buttons being pushed...we have to turn it off and back on to get it to recover. None of these are giant problems, though, and I think this player is a good choice if you're on a slim budget.

Summary: Good and Bad Points
Review: Great, cheap DVD player, multiregion capability with the remote hack. Only problem is that if your not careful, it goes crazy, and scratches up the discs. Something to do with multiregion I think, because it only does it with my region 2 discs. So if you are thinking of using this multiregion, try somthing else. But if you are looking to play R1 DVD, VCD, SVCD, MP3, look no furthur, this is EXCELLENT!

Summary: Great for the money, but some flaws
Review: I bought this DVD player for my boyfriend for Christmas. For the price, it's a real bargain, especially with the huge list of features this player offers. I also liked the silver color, which is a bit different than the usual black DVD players you usually see.

The zoom and slow motion features were great, especially when watching Rocky. The only thing that was wrong with our machine (I'm not sure if anyone else experienced this problem) is that almost every time we put on a movie, the subtitles will automatically come on. I'd then go to the menu, shut them off, and then return to the movie. The subtitles don't appear for half a minute but then return. It takes about 5 tries before the glitch finally stops.

But overall, the DVD player is worth the money, has a sleek design, and has been more than what we could ask for.

Summary: Best DVD player for its price
Review: This is one of the best purchases I've made recently. The player works perfect, no need for any set up or anything, just plug and play. It plays all my CDR/CDRWs, MP3s, VCDs I have got from overseas and off course the DVDs. And surprisingly it also played the CD I had burnt with my favorite music videos (mpegs)!

It has all the necessary features one would expect from a basic DVD player. For its price its a steal. The only bummer is the lack of power button on remote, but I can live with it.

I bought it as a gift to my parents in India as its a true international DVD player and plays DVDs from all regions, supports NTSC and PAL seamlessly. But now I'm so impressed that I'm thinking of buying one for myself too!

Summary: Player Freezes, and Customer Service is terrible
Review: This player was broken out of the box. It played fine for 20 minutes and then the picture froze. Turning it off and back on again did not revive it--only waiting an hour or so would it start to work again . . . for another 20 minutes.

Though I called customer service two days after I bought it (which involved over an hour of wait time before an automated menu gave me the number of a local representative--and forget about online help--the site seems designed to keep you from contacting them) I was not offered an exchange, and all the work to replace the damaged product had to be made by me. I was asked to bring it to a "repair place" that was so far out of my way, getting there and back would cost more than the unit. Daewoo's philosphy is not, apparently, "The customer is always right," but rather "Buyer beware."

Do not buy this product, or--I would recommend--anything from Daewoo.

Summary: excellent
Review: A great buy. Multi-voltage, works in the US and Europe, Multi-region, plays DVD's no matter where in the world you buy them.

Summary: Good basic player for about two weeks
Review: We thought this player was just great for about two weeks. Since then, it freezes about once every movie we play, and we cannot get it to work again except by shutting it off and on. Occasionally, even that has not worked, and it refuses to stop freezing. I was too lazy to do anything about it until now (almost 10 months later); I'll probably have to buy a new player because it just freezes too much now, and I don't think I'll be able to get the company to do anything.

Summary: Great for the price
Review: I can't complain too much. I got a little more than I paid for and that's the good news. The bad news is that it took forever for me to set it up and I'm very good at reading instructions. Also, that guy who put in his review that you could hack into this thing and make it multi-regional forgot to warn people about the smartchip in recent dvds that won't play if your dvd player has been messed with. Also, it takes forever sometimes to read certain dvds (like 5 minutes).

Summary: Good basic DVD player
Review: This DVD player was the first one I ever purchased. It is a good player if all you want to do is watch DVDs and play the sound through your TV. However, I have the DVG-3000N attached to my Dolby Pro Logic surround sound reciever and the sound is sub-par. I have to turn the reciever up relitively loud in order to get the desired volume level and even when I get it turned up loud enough, there is no surround sound! (just sound coming from the front 3 speakers, mainly the center)
One minor detail that I am not happy with, is that the remote doesn't have a power button.

I would recommend the DVG-3000N to anyone who wants a good basic DVD player to hook up to their TV.

Summary: A Very Nice Machine
Review: In years past my father referred to electronic toys as "kakeh-mykehs." This kakeh-mykeh is pretty darn cool. It's unfortunate that you can't power it on or off with the remote, but hey, I need the exercise. The price is right, it plays MP3s very nicely and it hasn't given me any significant problems. The one annoying thing is that it'll go into subtitle mode occasionally, without warning when adjusting some other doohicky on the remote. But it's a minor thing. I'm having fun with this and I hope I don't have to end up prying it open like I used to with my Montgomery Ward's cassette tape recorders back in the '70s. If that's the case maybe I can hang it around my neck and go as a robot for Purim some day.
