Rating: Summary: No headphone jack Review: Good player; I just wanted to add that despite the technical data, there is NO headphone jack with volume control on the unit (unless I'm missing something really obvious).
Rating: Summary: Sony DVD player is Super Review: After an extensive review of DVD players, I chose the dsp-330 back in early December. I've since watched over 40 DVD's and the picture and sound quality are exceptional, with no occurances of the dreaded lip-sync problem. I believe Sony has corrected the problem as others have noted, and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this player for quality and ease of use. I have it connected to a Sony DB830 receiver with dolby digital and DTS decoding, and the sound is phenomonal in either mode. You'd swear you're on the beach in "Saving Private Ryan." With this system, I won't go to the movies again!
Rating: Summary: sticks on every 5th dvd. Review: My S330 is sticking/stalling on the later chaptersof about every 5th rental dvd. The DVD's do not appear scratched. The store then is able to play over the point where it stalls on my machine (they have a different brand dvd player).
Rating: Summary: A++ DVD Player Review: I was hesitant to buy the lower end DVD players but I feel much better about that decision now. This is a superb DVD player with all the goodies. I believe that you should buy a low end DVD and put all the technology in your receiver. Thus, you do not need to buy a $500 DVD player with 5.1 technology. They key is the receiver. As long as you buy a good receiver with 5.1 and DTS, your prayers will be answered. I also suggest the Monster Cable for superb quality. I tried it both ways and Monster is the best. Worth the $30.00 investment. So far, the Matrix has been the best DVD to watch on this player. Not to mention the excellent sound I get from audio CDs.
Rating: Summary: Problem with audio CDs Review: I bought a Sony DVD player. It played DVDs OK, but it couldn't play audio CD's I created from my PC. I returned this machine and I bought a Pioneer DVD player instead. These CDs play fine on this machine. In fact, these CDs work on my car CD players, my computer CD players, and my 10-year old Yamaha CD player. I was surprised that a new Sony DVD machine can't handle this, since all of these other machines could. Maybe future versions will correct this oversight
Rating: Summary: Great machine, excellent bargain Review: I hooked up my Sony DVP-S330 to a JVC-RX778V digital receiver (with built-in decoder), and let me tell you the performance is outstanding. When hooked up with the S-video and digital optical audio cables, the sound and picture are stunning. I blast a movie through the stereo and wonder what I am going to do with all those VHS movies I have lying around. The DVP-S330 has great features and the remote is very easy to use. Access times on discs are very fast, including bringing up specific chapters. The construction of the DVP-S330 is very solid. You will notice that the first time you open and close the disc tray. It makes a vault-like sound when it closes. I love that. All in all, the DVP-S330 is a great buy if you have a receiver with a built-in decoder. Set-up is a cinch. Just hook up the video and audio cables and plug it in. That's it! The only drawback I can see with the DVP-S330 is that it lacks a shuttle ring on the unit and remote. Other than that, the performance of this unit is amazing. I recommend it highly.
Rating: Summary: Stunning Performance Review: Sony DVP S330 gives me stunning picture quality. I tried to save myself about $50.00 by returning the Monster SVHS cable. Big Mistake. If your cables aren't good you'll get VHS quality but not what this unit is capable of delivering.I had a bit of picture jumping but traced it to need to reajust the TV's Vertical hold control button. Buy It. Let your receiver to the decoding.
Rating: Summary: question! how about DTS-encoded AUDIO CDs? Review: Does anyone know if it can play DTS-encoded AUDIO COMPACT DISCS ? I don't want to spend $30 for a cd that I can't play :) Please email me if you know the answer. mapinsk@mailexcite.com Otherwise this is a great product, if it had component video out, then it would be perfect. Great for beginners, just remember that you need a Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS decoding receiver to experience the full benefits of owning a DVD player like this one.
Rating: Summary: A little nervous Review: On 2/4/2000 I received the Sony DVP330 for my birthday, I have only used it a couple of times so far and I love it I have not had any problems with it so far, but I have read a couple of other reviews on it and some people have had to return it at least once or twice due to a sync problem with the audio and actors voices on screen. I hope I don't expierence this problem, but I am still a little nervous.
Rating: Summary: SONY SONY SONY! Review: I wrestled between SONY and the Toshiba DVD players for a couple months! I finally went with Sony. I trust the name and my insincts were correct again! I must say all the reviews I read right here on Amazon about both players were of enormous help! Thanks everyone! Had it up and running in 5 nimutes. Flawless performance! No problems with any dvd so far and do not expect any. Quality (and nicely set-up) remote. I can't say much more without repeating what everyone else said but you will not be let down by the Sony S330. The price is right! The free Netflix rentals were great too! DVD RENTALS shipped to my door with no late fees...prepaid mailers...you never have to leave your couch! Any questions if your browsing, give a holler! (tjhale@webtv.net)
