Summary: Don't Do It!
Review: This DVD player won't read over half the discs you feed it....very frustrating.

Summary: Great product at a reasonable price
Review: This is my first DVD player, and I'm pleasantly surprised at all of the features available at this price. Setup took about two seconds (after I went out for the S video cable which isn't included), and the sound through my stereo speakers is terrific. I chose this unit entirely on the basis of these consumer recommendations, and am very happy with the results.

Summary: Great Picture and sound !
Review: This is my first DVD player. I hooked it up to my 32 inch Toshiba TV and connected the sound to my stereo receiver with Bose Accoustimass V speakers. The sound is incredible ! This player delivers great surround sound with a two speaker system. Installation was a 10 minute project. On screen displays make it simple to operate. I highly recommend this DVD player.

Summary: Best purchase I've made lately!
Review: This player is easily the BEST purchase I have made any time in the recent past. The other DVD players I was looking at wouldn't play CD-Rs or CD-RWs, but the Philips-Magnavox model takes charge and lets you play both. Woohoo! While Shogun complains about it stopping at the same place in many discs, this is probably just the layer change on the disc. No biggie. As for features, it can do many things the higher-end players can (slow-mo, high-speed seek, etc.), PLUS comes with TWO RCA/CVBS out sets... So, it's a CD player on my stereo receiver and a DVD player on my TV. In short, it's a great deal, and you'd be smart (very smart) to buy it.

Summary: Very Solid Performance and Unique
Review: This was my my 3rd DVD purcahse after doing much research. This product is an exceptional value considering all the great features it offers. One unique feature, very rare among DVD players, is that it will play PAL format DVD from Europe. Only one other brand does the same for $500 +. Only drawbacks are noise levels when loading and the remote is small and cheap. Overall this is an excellent product with tremendous picture, controls and sound.

Summary: Ehh. I'll pass.
Review: While this player does have crystal clear picture and rock-solid freeze-frame (best I've seen yet), - what is with that NOISE? It sounds like it's EATING the discs! That CAN'T be good. The menus aren't too well planned and overall I'd say the remote and player are, well, *klunky*. It plays well enough, but for the money you could easily get a smoother running Toshiba or Sony. Also, I keep getting white spots! I am told this is because older movies were not made digitally and therefore not transferred in the same manner as newer movies. Then why am I paying through the nose for a movie with a clear picture and clear white spots? I'll pass thanks.
