Summary: Great all in ONE!
Review: Panasonic DVD players are known for great picture quality and reliability. Now you can add versatility to the list: Their affordable DVD-RV31 is an all-purpose entertainer that plays DVDs, CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs...even MP3 CDs! I actually bought this system to not only be my DVD play but also the CD player to my Surround Sound Reciever!

When it comes to watching DVD movies, the 'RV31 is ready to please. Panasonic's High Speed Smooth Motion Scan lets you zip through a DVD at up to 100X regular speed. A video black level control lets you adjust the player's video signal for a more filmlike picture. A component video output lets you take full advantage of DVD's awesome video performance with compatible TVs.

Whether your A/V system is simple or elaborate, the DVD-RV31 makes DVD sound more involving. Advanced Virtual Surround Sound simulates a surround effect using just the pair of speakers in your TV or stereo system. For surround sound systems, Dialogue Enhancer makes dialogue easier to hear by raising the center channel volume. Available in black or silver.

Summary: Cheap motors
Review: The Panasonic players work great when they work, good picture, most play DVD-R discs well too, the problem is the cheap spindle motors (the one that spins the disc). The HO2 error is the spindle motor not working, Panasonic has gone from a direct drive motor, which has nothing to wear out, in their early players to a cheap brush motor in the newer ones. DVDs spin too fast for a brush motor, the vibration from spinning the unbalanced discs gets dust from the magnets on the brushes and bearings causing premature failure, Panasonic should have known this. You can buy a new motor for about $30.00 if you are brave enough to try to replace it, not a very easy task, even if you do replace the motor it is still the same cheap brush motor subject to the same problems. Be sure to buy a DVD player with a direct drive motor, these aren't the only players with spindle motor problems.

Summary: H02 error and fix
Review: My dvd player was working fine until one day i tried playing a dvd and it simply wouldn't play. It said h02. There is a very simple solution to this. Remove the case and use a blow dryer or a can of compressed air to clean all of the internal components. it should start working again.

Summary: It's garbage without the flies.....
Review: H02 error, need I say more. It's the most expensive trash can liner that I have.
Hey Panasonic: Good job on a quality player (scoff)...

Summary: H02 Error FIX!!
Review: If you get H02 Error, open the case and blow entire thing along with the laser with a "can of air". Works like a charm again!!

Summary: Crap
Review: Whatever you do don't buy a Panasonic DVD player. I had mine for only about six months and it died giving me an H02 error everytime I put in a DVD. I only watch a movie twice a month at the most!!!! I contacted Panasonic and they said that for a fee they would fix it, but I have heard from others that it will break again in another few months. What nerve. I have to pay for their design flaws? I had an old Panasonic TV that was good and is still living to this day. Because of brand loyalty I bought the DVD player, but just as I am very loyal to brands that take care of their customers and provide quality products, I am very disloyal when this type of crap happens. Stay away from Panasonic!

Summary: Worthless - Ignore Good Reviews
Review: Like others I was taken in by the original good rating this product had. After 16 months the unit died - the service centers charges you 90% the price of a new player. My advice is to ignore folks who write a review one day after taking it out of the box - their day will come!

Next time, I'll buy Sony.

Summary: For all of those with a H02 "no disc" error!
Review: This message is for all those who have encountered the H02 or H07 errors. I have a similar Panasonic DVD palyer: Model S35 and had H02/H07 error. After much investigation I found that although the problem seems to be of motor it is actually "dirty lens" that causes the motor to stop. A good lens cleaning cures the problem. If air spray or lens cleaner CD doesnt work open up the dvd palyer and clean the lens with alcohol based aftershave or nail paint remover. (You may have to rotate a wheel under the DVD tray to get to the lens.) Hope this helps all the troubled souls.

Summary: OK, but serious problems
Review: Decent sound but it would freeze up when humidity was high. Doies after 18 months.

Summary: Possible workaround for HO* errors.
Review: Recently I was trying to play Finding Nemo and got HO2 error.
Restarting unit did not fix the problem, but using "Cancel" from
remote fixed the issue. May be it just worked by luck. Try it out.
