Rating: Summary: Big Dud Review: I bought this DVD player just before a long Thanksgiving trip. It did OK on the way to our destination but by the time we were heading home it was malfunctioning and we couldn't use it. I figured it must have gotten knocked around by my kids but since it was only days old, I returned it to Target and exchanged it. We used it occassionally after that and it worked fine until I took it on another trip. The sound is pitiful, you can barely hear it in a car or on a plane with the volume on high. It is only practical with the earphones, however with 5 kids that was not practical for me. In late February, just after the 90 day warranty expired, I was unable to turn it on and I'm still battling to figure out the problem. The battery is fully charged. I tried the AC adapter and nothing works. I tried the Audiovox website but they don't even recognize the model number so getting information to trouble shoot the problem is impossible. Going to the Eddie Bauer website was completely a waste of time as well. I'll probably try to exchange this at Target again for the same model, only because I don't want to spend more money on this junk, but I want to salvage a little more value out of the $400 I have already spent. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!
Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware Review: I had a similar experience as one of the previous reviewers on this item. I bought it around Thanksgiving on sale as a Christmas present for my son. It was never opened or used until after Christmas. After 1 month of light use it started acting up. Then all I received was a NO DISC message not matter what I put in the player.I also contacted Audiovox and they told me that there warranty was only for 90 days and my receipt was dated 95 days. The technichain told me that the NO DISC message indicates that there was an internal problem with the player. Then he said that I would need to send $168.00 to have it repaired. I explained that even though my recept was dated then it was not opened until Christmas. I was then told by another Audiovox representative that was the only option. After this I contacted the Target store where Purchased the player and explained the situation. They were willing to work with me and said that I could exchange it for another player but the only ones they had in stock where the Audiovox Edddie Bower like I had previously purchased. I hoped that maybe the first one was just a lemon. Relunctantly, I decided to get another player but now it was not on sale and I had to pay an additional $50.00 for the new player but figured it was better than $168.00. When I got home and plugged it in I received the same NO DISC messsage that my previous player was indicating. I guess this brand new one in a unopened box also had an interal problem. Sounds fishy to me. I tried 10 DVD's and received the same message for all of them. So now I am out of $350.00 and still do not have a working DVD player.
Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware Review: I was given this item as a Christmas gift, and the problems started from the beginning. First, there was a region code violation, which means the player would not play any discs intended for sale in Canada, the US or Mexico. Rather than travel abroad to purchase my DVDs, I tried to return this item to Target. I had the receipt, but my friend bought this gift a couple months before Christmas. By the time I brought it in for an exchange, Target would no longer accept the return.<br /><br />Dealing with AudioVox was not much better. After paying $23.00 to send the DVD player to them, they said they would fix it for $93.00. I talked them down to $25.00, and I waited 2 long months before I received the player back from them. Everything worked fine for a couple months, then the screen went blank in the middle of a movie. the DVD player no longer charged or indicated any life whatsoever. After paying to send this to them again, now they want to charge an additional $138 to fix it this time around.<br /><br />The moral of this story...do yourself a favor and pick another portable DVD player. Confucious says...it is easiest to learn from the mistakes of others rather than from your own.
Rating: Summary: Not quite Santa quality Review: Imagine this: a van full of kids on a long trip completely fascinated by the movie on the brand new DVD player from Santa and then, bang the screen goes black and only the sound continues. Frantically the kids and passenger adult are trying to recover from the shock by pushing all the buttons on the (flimsy) remote as well as on the player itself in all possible combinations, but it is in vain. Eddie Bauer is no longer cooperative. Well, we know its not a device from Santas shop, obviously. The incident happened to us the first and second time we used the player in the car with the car adapter. Now, the third time the machine will get a ride in the van is going to be on the way to the Target return desk.
Rating: Summary: Not Good Review: We were very excited to purchase this Eddie Bauer DVD player for our boys to entertain during long road trips especially since it is affiliated with a reputable name. (We assumed it had to be a great product) However, during our trips...the screen became extremely hot to the touch and the picture would freeze. We had to turn off/on several occassions which made it a complete hassle. We have only had it for two weeks and will be returning it today for sure. Buyer beware-don't wait too long if you start to notice any signs of trouble.
