Rating: Summary: Audiovox D1700...go back to D1680! Review: Read the luke warm reviews, but took a chance anyway. Returned the unit after only a week. Picture was beautiful, but skipped and pixelized too often. Tried numerous DVDs, but still kept skipping. I then bought the Toshiba 8" unit and returned it after one day (sound was bad...I should also have taken reviews to heart). I now happily own the Audiovox 1680! A little heavier, but it lives up to all expectations.
Rating: Summary: Don't order this Review: Slow, halting, eventually broke down completely
Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! Review: We purchased one of these last month, all it managed to do was destroy the DVDs that were played. What's even worse is the service we received from Audiovox. They first told us that they wouldn't take the product back because we were playing defective DVDs in it. Then They wanted to send a refurb in exchange for a brand new player. Then we forced the product return. We still haven't resolved the issue of replacing or paying for the brand spanking new DVDs that the Audiovox player ruined. Audiovox is entirely unwilling to make any effort to resolve this. Don't buy this player. I would go as far as to say if you are smart you won't buy ANY Audiovox product. You would be taking too much of a risk on reciving a poor quality product AND too much of a risk of reciving poor (and rude) customer service.

Rating: Summary: Problems, problems Review: We purchased this model about 15 months ago. Our original unit had to be immediately returned because the screen would freeze and then the movie would skip forward. Our 2nd unit has functioned well until recently. Now the same problem is occuring (screen freezing and skipping). Audiovox will not honor the warranty (it's 2 months after the 1-year has expired) and wants $165 flat fee to fix it. Not real thrilled with this company. I would look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Don't buy this ! Review: What a piece of junk ! Only plays about 1 out of 2 DVD's and even then skips and jumps and freezes erratically. Battery power is good at 3.5 hours, but try buying spare batteries anywhere other than calling Audiovox on the phone, waiting on hold for a while, and getting surly service! Don't be fooled by the low price. I bought this at another store, and have been consistently disappointed by it. I fly a lot on business, and really liked the idea of having a DVD player for long flights. However, since the Audiovox so seldom is actually able to play my DVDs, I have to carry a lot around with me and constantly watch the few that actually work on it. I'm about to buy another one, and it won't be Audiovox! This is a complete piece of junk and you should stay away from it at all costs.
